My guess his game day back issue reported after morning practice that forced back up UPL into action that night in mid November was enough for Ruff to consider Lyon unreliable. Or, could be he is still recovering from his back issue.

UPL has a stellar record against the Black Hawks. Think this is why he is starting tonight. Has nothing to do with Lyon necessarily.

Adams needs to get Winnipeg on the phone and offer them UPL. Connor Hellebuyck will miss the next 4 to 6 weeks after undergoing a minor Arthroscopic knee procedure.

Gotta love that salary on the 3rd pairing as well.  But, I think it proves what we know. They have no confidence in him and the less he is on the ice the better.

Good news is that I have a long list of things I will do instead of watch the game tonight. Thankfully beer league hockey superseded the Bills game last night. I love when life saves you from the misery that is Buffalo sports.

My son and his friends on the other hand decided they want to go to the game tonight.

Three goalies on the roster are unwieldy. Any way you partial out the workload you end up negatively affecting one of them. It's a tough juggling act for any HC. Maybe showcasing UPL might be a factor? In general, our roster construction is misaligned.

Zucker’s impact back into the lineup is a huge boost to the top six.  Pushing the kids to the third line and giving Quinn NHL forwards to play with is a huge help.  A big game for Quinn is needed or he’s headed to the press box.  Still need Benson back, but at least the top six is filled with NHL regulars.

Huge night for UPL. If the narrative that he need pressure to be great is true, tonight is the kind of night for him to shine. It’s a big night for him because if he’s bad, it’s OVER for him as a starter in Buffalo. I cannot explain it, but for some reason I’m expecting him to be good tonight.

Tage and Tuch can have a big night. I wouldn’t bet against it after the stinker on Wednesday. It’s their MO to be good after a letdown.

Honestly, with how well Doan has played, it should function as a capable top line. Just need to Tuch to give a damn.
