5. Terry was never a hockey guy, people just assumed that (and he and his Pitt crew stoked the idea). He was always a football guy, there just happened to be a hockey team for sale first. Buying the Sabres established his credentials as a pro sports owner and greased the skids. Harbor Center also was meant to buy good will.
