bob_sauve28 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago No word yet on severity of injury but this is not good news. He is a solid vet who scores. God speed to an early return Quote
Pimlach Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Zucker is one of the few that doesn’t get rattled. He still has the ability to score and will be needed if this team is going to progress. 1 Quote
matter2003 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Are these players made of glass on this team? Literally have one dude seriously injuring himself on a faceoff where nobody touches him and now Zucker hurts himself on probably the most innocuous check you'll ever see. Can the Sabre players get an NHL approval to wear bubblewrap? Edited 4 hours ago by matter2003 Quote

Take a gander at the NFL’s injured reserve list. Its why depth might be the single biggest attribute amongst the league’s elite. 1 3 Quote

That list is always long in the NFL, people only think it's more because certain types of injuries have increased but others have decreased. Overall that hasn't been much change. Quote
zow2 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Looked like his left arm...wrist, elbow, shoulder? who knows. Hopefully nothing too bad but I'm expecting to hear the dreaded "week to week" prognosis. If he's back in the lineup anytime before mid-November I'd consider that a win. 1 Quote

I think he bent his left wrist, it may have curled under too much, from the contact and followed by the pushing off. Edited 4 hours ago by Pimlach 1 Quote
shrader Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I thought shoulder last night, but after watching that again, he's not favoring that at all as he leaves. It has to be something forearm/wrist. 1 Quote

Which sucks because if he fractured something, then we're looking at 6-8 weeks. Quote

Players are bigger (in some cases, certainly in Football), stronger, faster, with technological advancements in equipment that accentuates these factors. The human body - even those as developed as a professional athlete - isn't made to constantly collide or turn on a dime at high rates of speed. My doomsday thought is that Football as we know it will eventually become extinct or far more watered down than it already is. 1 Quote

There was a story going around a while back about how Olivia Reeves, Team USA weightlifter, trains like half as much as other weightlifters while out-performing them. 3 Quote

I am also worried about Zucker because he is hard to replace. He’s one of the adults in the room and the Sabres need that. This coaching staff will just slap Krebs onto the third line and bemoan injuries. But to your question, Rosen can supply Zucker replacement level play on the PP and that’s about it. 1 Quote

It's rochester so just a tweet that he left the game early and went to the locker room. I can probably dig it up, but its far from official so probably not worth sharing. 11 minutes ago, Porous Five Hole said: I am also worried about Zucker because he is hard to replace. Well thats good, who'd have thought he'd need to be called up by the 8th game. If Zucker misses time thats like... 1/3 of the salary cap payroll tied up in injuries right now. Quote

I agree with this, and also with the WAY they are training. It used to be that players played whatever sport was in season. Football, basketball, baseball, etc... all of them require slightly different skills and movements so you are building up different areas in ways that you aren't in other sports, plus you are giving some areas more of a rest. Now, players focus on the same sport from a young age all year round many times, which tends to hurt them from a development standpoint often times and also from an injury standpoint since you are adding much more wear and tear to the same areas over and over again non-stop over the course of your youth and then as a professional. Then training has become year round as well, so even in the off-season, you are still doing significant work. While that helps make them stronger, faster and more explosive, it also puts miles on the tires and eventually, those tires wear out. The human body only has but so many repetitions in it of any movement, so the more you do as you are younger non-stop all year round and then during the off-season, the more likely you are to have serious issues like ACL, Achilles, etc where it just has worn out over time and needs to be replaced. The one good thing is that these seem to be so good these days, that often times players are coming back ready to go without much drop-off anymore. 1 Quote
