Dahlin nearly lost his right eye with that friendly stick. He’ll have a nice bruise on his orbital bone.

Watching the replay on that last goal, I wouldn't be so hard on Power.  If you watch Larkin coming down the near boards, McLeod is stride for stride with him. Just inside the blue line, Larkin does a little move on McLeod and gets some seperation. 2 missed stick checks later, McLeod lays off Larkin as Larkin goes into the corner. At that Point, Power goes into the corner after larkin because McLeod layed off.

The goal scorer comes up the middle of the ice, Doan is with him stride for stride but just as Power shades to the corner, Doan lets up just a little bit and lets the guy get a step on him.

All 3 guys, Power, Doan, and McLeod are looking around not quite sure where to go.  I do not blame Power for going into the corner at all AFTER McLeod held up and let Larkin into the corner. Its just once McLeod lays up there and Power continues on Larkin, McLeod and/or Doan need to make sure they have the trailers going to the front of the net.  Power seemed to be the one guy that played it better than either Doan or McLeod.

If McLeod follows his guy into the corner, Power is closer to the middle to break up the pass.  IF McLeod peals off like he did, that kinda forces Power to go to the corner, so someone else (McLeod himself or Doan) needs to be in the center to cover the guy crashing to the net.

If you watch Power, he LOOKS at the goal scorer coming up the center of the ice and at the moment he does, he sees Doan is side by side with him, before deciding to go to the corner. It was the moment power turned to go to the corner that Doan fell a step behind him.

The more times I watch the replay of the goal..the more I think Power didn't do anything wrong. He analysed the situation, read what McLeod was doing, reacted to McLeod letting Larkin go, and only left his spot AFTER checking to see if Doan had the slot covered. Only problem is Doan lost his guy.

Was that doan on the backcheck that also didn't tie his man up?

Yep, that is what I saw, he was with him and just let him get that half step on him. (see above)

FWIW, the TNT crew is drilling Dahlin for his lackadasical effort on Compher's goal.

As well they should, he does this ***** every season. A terrible penalty at the worst possible time, lapses on defense, giving pucks away, it's infuriating.

The Red Wings are playing like they are ready for a loss. But we can’t get out of our own way.

It's been frustrating thus far for sure.

I  would take Danforth over Krebs.  In a short time he became the best face-off guy on the team, and he was really good on PK.

It's pretty wild that we need our 1st-round key-piece-of-the-Eichel-trade guy on his second contract to become as good as a try-hard undrafted undersized college guy who played briefly in the AHL before going to Liiga and the KHL (COVID year), before making his NHL debut at age 28.

Their points per 82 games are very close (though Danforth has the definite edge in FO% and hits; Krebs a large lead in assists).

Owen Power, please request a trade.

Be careful what you wish for...Kevyn Adams would still be executing that trade.

Correct. A regulation loss here is very very bad. They need to dig deep and need Tage to pull his head out of rear.

Anyone paying attention to the intermission topic? How bad Tage and Ras have been? Your team leaders.

Got no love from the TNT crew.

He's a passenger on the second goal.  His exit's leaving the zone are pathetic, and his passing is not sharp.  He's a complete loafer, and to be honest, he doesn't do anything of use in his own zone.  6'6" Pillow Princess.

Disagree with Chelios, Dahlin passes his man to Metsa

You’re going to disagree with ***** Hall of Fame Dman? Biz (who I can see you questioning his opinion) and King Henry all agreed with Cheli.  That’s the problem.  Dahlin isn’t getting great coaching to diagnose those plays.  That sequence was a microcosm of why this team is stuck in neutral. Controlled the pace of play but small mistakes cost them.

Better than smacking yourself in the face with a resistance band in warmups and breaking your orbital bone like Colts QB Anthony Richardson did a few weeks ago.

As per my post above, of the 3 Sabres closest to the puck on that last detroit goal, Power, Doan, and McLeod....I think Power played it the best among the 3.

and yet many here will defend his defense. I think it's weak. He can skate fluidly, pass, and score but defensively, I don't find him all that great.

They said it exactly right...no attention to details, not being in the proper position, constant habit of trying to cheat offensively and turning up ice before they have control of the puck.

Anyone who has watched this team for the last 3-4 years has seen this exact play sequence hundreds of times.

And I think I'm going to take the Hall of Fame, Multiple Cup Winning D man's opinion over a random poster.
