I'm actually surprised how bad they are. I know Tkachuk is out, but they have some other good players. Man, could be a long season in the Nation's Capital also.

Lyon bailed us out, I like how he quick he can put his pads up against the goal posts.

the last time Sabres scored 4 goals in the 2nd period was like 50 years ago...right ?

The most recent time the Buffalo Sabres scored 4 goals in the second period was on November 7, 2024, in a 6-1 win over the New York Rangers. ~ChatGPT 🤫

Good for him. They need to get him a victory. He was the only guy who showed up to play in the earlier games. I hope this game gets the boys playing again. Some confidence was sorely needed. Time will tell.

so neither player changed.  norris still gets injured and cozens still isn't great

I always liked cozens. Not as a player as he had/has no hockey IQ, but I liked him cuz he cared and always played hard.

Not to pour cold water on this, but Ottawa's goalie has been comically bad.

The first 2 goals allowed he looked clueless. The 2nd goal he is way out of the net and his play recognition and reaction time was worse than the guys at the senior center down the street.  The 3rd goal he's kicking out huge rebounds and can't hold onto his stick. Zuckers first PP goal was a nice shot, but the goalie was set, saw the release of the puck, not screened and he didn't even get a piece of it.

If they had a competant goalie in net, this might still be an Ottawa lead (just sayin)

Let us enjoy this before the swift, paralyzing crash back to reality Friday.

I know Norris is out and that deal doens't look good at the moment for the Sabres.

On the other hand, Cozens is who he is.  he's a -2 this game, a -6 through 3.5 games this year. He was a minus player for the Sens in the playoffs and a minus player in his 20 game stint for them in the regular season last year.

The Sabres have problems, but if moving him opened up ice time for someone else, I think thats a positive move regardless of the return.

I'm still not sure how Ottawa hasn't moved him to wing yet.

Remember last season, when Ruff got upset by TNT and Cozens not playing responsibly as centers and he made the comments about how he'd move them to wing if they weren't willing to play the position?

On 11/1, Cozens played on the wing vs. NYI. Cozens scored his first goal of the season on the PP. And immediately thereafter, he was back at center next game. He never started on the wing again the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Thompson eventually went to the wing and never went back to center until this season.

Let's be real: the Sabres have been comically bad. It's a wash.

It will be interesting to see if they can finish with poise and dominance.  Play a smart period, give up no goals,  add to the lead.

I predicted a 4-2 win, let’s go for 7-2!

Why didn't Buffalo.  Every strength Cozens has, every tendency he has screams a player you WANT on wing and the exact thing you don't want at center.  But I guess the league and the coaches know more than we do (they do on most things obviously, but with Cozens, I don't get it).
