My point is that merely firing Adams aids in perception regardless of the reality of Terry being a doofus

That's a separate conversation and I agree it was a bad contract, hence I said you couldn't get more in a trade.  We're a desperate franchise that has to take risks like that sometimes.  That one was a bad one and it's compounding with Norris hurt.

Also... Just throwing this at the wall to see if it sticks, but when Norris goes on LTIR, does his salary come from the team (Terry) or some insurance plan? If so, could his high potential for LTIR made him more attractive to Terry, esp given Cozens was almost as big of a sink $ wise?

This is conspiracy theory stuff I know so go easy on me, but when I see how easily Norris got hurt, I wonder if there could be more to his injury history than we know about. How much the team knew is where I get thinking. 🤔

There is no way Sabres management is smart or competent enough to think up and execute this level of conspiracy theory activity.

I'm guessing this is highly unlikely, as I'm sure they'd rather the player plays.  Is there a benefit to LTIR for out of pocket money to the club? I'm pretty sure there is and that they're glad they don't have to pay a player out of pocket.

Back in the day, pretty sure LaFontaine had to be out 40 games before insurance would start paying out.  And for someone injury prone, the policies aren't cheap.  (If you want to know how likely an event is, price out an insurance policy on it and figure the insurance company plans to net out across all its policies about 12% profit.  So, look at the policy value, the policy cost, and that profit factor and you get a rough likelihood of what a pro considers the likelihood of that event happening.)  Any policy on Norris would have at least 30 games missed as being the expectation.  So, he must be EXPENSIVE to insure.  Don't know if they'd have him insured against single season injury or not.

I’ve always wondered if the insurance policies carry over with a trade.

Smithers, trade Cozens for a player with an absolute horrible injury history, a real train wreck of a player, with a somewhat equal salary.
