(No one is actually coming to offer Byram a massive offer sheet)

I think Rosen is a tweener. It's a year early for Helenius. They're betting on Quinn.

I agree here... not sold on Rosen, hoping Quinn figures it out... and very hopeful for Helenius...  but he needs to bake a bit more in the AHL... I could see him getting a cup of coffee with the big team at somepoint this season just for his own reference.

4 years ... $6.75 AAV - play him with Rasmus for this season and see what happens.

That isn't a bad signing for us if happened. Yet I have to think he looking for K'Andre type money.

Very likely but I have zero interest in giving it to him.

I went with a bridge deal but the Sabres really screwed this 1 up if we could have landed Kyrou from St. Louis and Rasmus Anderson from Calgary. That would have been an upgrade to the offense and at worst the same player on defense.

I wonder if there’s a forward out there who has NO, no movement clause that we can trade a conditional 1st and a 2nd in 2027 to.

4 x $6.75 is fair.  He cannot expect more than that or he would have been offer sheeted.  He played a lot of minutes last season and was our 2nd best player back there.

The Owen Power contract is a painful reminder that the GM was not qualified and is learning on the fly.

Byram plays one or two years and then gets packaged in the next rebuild.

I suspect Kyrou  would hate every day in Buffalo.  If he has any control of it he would not agree to Buffalo, although he is friends with Tage.

If I were Adams I'd find the best Western offer and barring absurd difference to Eastern teams send Byram out for picks and then use those picks to get a Rakell. Sadly I don't Adams has the imagination to even fathom 2 trades. I won't trade him to Toronto or another divisional opponent

Picks?    You are dying to trade one of the better players on the team, even for less than his value.

what happened to win NOW!

I said trade for picks and use the picks to get a player. Effectively a 3-way trade

You said it.  Adams cannot pull off picks for players.  It would not work.

He plays in St Louis. Ever been there? It's Buffalo's big brother.

Not sold on Rosen? I think 1000% of the world agreed outside of his mom.

Adams can't but that's how he should do it. Getting 1 for 1 players is borderline impossible

We’ve got Bo for two more years regardless, right?  The Goal is to make the playoffs before then so no need to panic trade.  My return would be a power forward with nastiness and a defenseman with attitude.  If not, he stays a Sabre.

Yeah now that July 1st and no trade clauses kicked in we most definitely have no shot but before that he had no choice if i read that correctly.

Who is the player? I'm trying to think.. Timo Meir comes to mind but I doubt the Devils are trading him. I'm going from roster to roster trying to find realistic options and it's rough.

I have liked Byram since his junior days. I would like to find a way to keep him and have Dahlin play RD with him. He still has some growth in his game and could be a better PP2 guy than Power.

I now wonder how much goodwill has been burned with all of this trade talk. If he signs a bridge deal maybe he brings his A game for his next contract.

If you bridge him for 2 years then he is a UFA. Sign him for one year and let the new FO figure it out after they miss the playoffs again and everyone is let go because their contracts are up. Thats the way to run an organization 😳

They came into the off-season with a plan of swap out the back up goalie, swap out a couple of the bottom 1/2 D, and swap out most of the 4th line, and IF there's a deal that improves the team then consider trading Byram.  Oh, yeah, and can the S&C coach, he ruined our season.

What part of that indicates there may be a new FO if this fails again?  That's the plan of someone that beiieves they're on the right course.

Now, it's possible that Adams job IS on the line.  But he sure doesn't think it is.  (Pegula is the one who's opinion matters; but Adams has done nothing to indicate he might be looking for a new person to sign his paycheck come next July.)

Thats a big percentage... lol... yeah, I like to have hope even when its fleeting... but bottom line I expect a guy that may get called up from time to time but ultimately plays in Roch until we don't want to offer him another contract... and he plays in the AHL for some other team or goes to Europe.. thats my guess... but who knows.

Pretty much a big whiff as a 1st round draft pick. I know not all of them hit but every Sabres twitter jackwad was pouting like an insolent child after the pick and they were right making this even less enjoyable.  I didn’t know anything about him but quickly came to the conclusion that he wasn’t anything they needed and was a reach by the every measure.

Draft guys that don’t look like the league will be too much for them and run them over immdialty.  See Jiri Kulich or Konsta Helenius.  They’ve already shown they can hang with the pros and possibly excel.  Drafting waify kids who have no chance of competing has to be something we can rely on my the scouts and GM.

It's a fine contract for him.......BUT.....that would give the sabres one the most expensive d corps in the league....AND...they are not even particularly a good group.

It's such a frustrating position to be in.
