I think the fact that UPL has abysmal GSAA numbers except for the year we stopped playing offense at all, tells us he can't be the starter on this team. Adams though likes the cut of his jib so YOLO! 

UPL the last 3 years: -14.1, +10.1, and -19.9

Literally the only good year was when Buffalo shut the offense off and got Granato fired.

Surprised to see how many games he’s played over the last two years.

Kinda in that perennial Adams sweet spot of good enough that he might be someone we can ride if Kevyn’s favourites suck again, but bad enough that you can discard if they come to play.

Probably not as good as Reimer, but he could be. Sometimes teams get lucky with these guys. Given the goalie market and how early it is, I suspect the contract may raise our eyebrows.

Essentially running it back in net again.

More like the only good year he had was to get paid, Man those numbers are just gross.

Yes, for Adams it is too much for ask for.  He would be a blocker for Levi.

Lyon and UPL  - two backups that get hot on occasion.  That sounds about right.

Gibson would have been the guy (not sure if he turned us down or not), there are also rumblings of others being available. Lyon is a good backup but is he taking us to the playoffs?

He let in almost 20 more goals than a league average goaltender last year and Adams and Ruff are up there like "the defense!" MOFO your starting goalie is a sieve.

Idk, how many people can fit in his car and do they all have passports to get up to Toronto? That would be the closest playoff game I think. Wonder if Kevyn would give him gas money...

####ing hate even more that Carolina got lucky as #### in '06 injury wise and goaltending wise.  Not only did that keep the Sabres out of the pantheon of champions; it convinced a certain GM that a kid and a has been/ never was can find magic and lead a team to great things.  So it continues to keep the Sabres out of even being relevant for another year.

####, what was one of the FIRST things Kekalainen did when he took over in C-Bus - it was bring in Bobrovsky.  (And yes, Bobrovsky was Russian for sieve while he was in Filly; but ALL goalies there face the curse of Pelle Lindbergh.  It's one of the things that city is known for.)

I mean Lyon isn't horrible, he likely play 40 or so games here unless we think he can play more which think asking a lot. Like anything contract and terms matter, if he's signed for 3-4 seasons in the $4-$6 million range I'm okay with it. Anything longer or higher than our management is even dumber than we think.

I'm good with lyon signing. There wasn't anything out there to splash on - and the guy can give you 30 games. 

But not at 4-6m.....

All that said, goaltending will be an issue again. Levi needs a year or two still...but ka would be wise to jump all over a veteran starting caliber goalie the next time a GM is looking to dump and rebuild.

Lyon was the only reason Florida won there first cup as he picked up the slack for Bob when he had his slump 

this is a legit back up that gives us protection if there is a UPL stumble and allows Levi to run it back in the AHL

Lyon got the Panthers to the playoffs over the Sabres in 22-23. They lost in the Final to Vegas.

Then, Lyon went off to Detroit and the Panthers have gone back-to-back.

Must be nice. So many playoff seasons to choose from.

Levi should earn the job not just be handed it, last year was a great start but he should be in the AHL for at least another season unless he’s playing at such a high level we would be insane not to start him.
