That’s 4 RHD with 2 trades and 2 draft picks

Mrtka and Bedkowski in the draft and Kesselring and Timmins in trade.

Adams is just a giant moron.

But it's only a net of 3 as Clifton went out the door.

So, they'll need at least one coming back for Byram to truly get to the quota.

4th round, #116 -- acquired for RHD Lyubushkin -- perfect pick to add another RHD.

You know what the 1st most wanted quantity is in the NHL? Centers.

You know what 2nd is? Big RHD.

And he had no issues whatsoever with overzealously collecting RHD's when it was his boy Botterill doing the collecting.

Bedkowski is someone that doesn't matter until like 2030 if he ever does. At that point, if a 6'5" 225lb rhd with a preference for violence is an issue because we have 4rhd already... well who cares.

This draft and the trades have Lindy all over it. I can just imagine how sickened he was watching the video from last season.

Yup.

Botterill crazy enough was worse than Adams, yet got another job? Murray i think was okay (though his drafting wasn't good), he just rushed the process too quickly. choosing Botterill over Zito set this team back a decade plus

They have addressed an organizational deficiency that has haunted them for probably a decade. This addresses a huge need and a step in the right direction. You now have starters plus potential depth with a good mix of styles. Outside of the weak return on JJ, it seems to me some big boys have stepped in and are directing KA to build a proper foundation to our hockey program.  We had to get tougher to play against, which has been the number one problem for nearly two decades.

But….are they that much tougher (so far)?  Kesselring and Doan may help, but I’m not sure I’m seeing enough otherwise to convince me the change is enough.  I get that JJP didn’t bring any grit and that his absence makes it possible to add somebody still, but it hasn’t happened yet IMHO.

When you are the softest team in the entire league, we need more toughness….a LOT more

Never know who is going to pan out, better to not put all your eggs in one basket. Still have plenty of talented forwards in the pipeline

Removing most of the softies goes a long way towards that though. Adding one thug who plays 9mins a night doesn’t help things as much as removing thirty minutes of peel away

At least it seems they realize this and are actively starting to address it.  Rome wasn't built in a day. lol

At this rate Rome wouldn't be built yet

Except he passed on some big (and mean) RHD at the top of the round to trade for cast off RHD and he shipped out our own tiny RHD and dumped the soft one last year so are we actually any better???

And still got that exact thing in round 3

But round 3. Lesser version. I hope he works out and develops into an NHL player but he's going to take years to get there.

I don't like this trade. I think Kettles will be better than Timmins (for example).

I don't think kettles is a better version of Bedkowski

Oh very different for sure. I have no issues with Bedkowski. It's not an either or I'd have been fine with both given where we picked. I don't like Timmins.

Montreal made the big move in the second round. I'd bet Philly had their sights set on the Russian but Montreal jumped them and snagged him. Montreal has a Russian scout. That's probably a smart organizational move for them. I see him as the potential second round steal.
