I remember when we traded Savoie every laughed and now know one in the media brings it up anymore.

To be fair, he was a 20-21 kid this season on a Stanley Cup-contending favorite roster (from the West, at least) from day one of the season. They were the oldest/most veteran team in the league (again - a GM Holland specialty), and even if it disappointed them in the playoffs, they had veteran depth. They had experienced former top-6 guys in Arvidsson and Skinner, they had undisciplined depth scoring in Kane, and they capable veteran 3/4 guys in Connor Brown and Kapanen. Not good enough to beat Florida, but solid. Savoie wasn't going to displace those guys without being a stud -- which, he's a good prospect -- not another McDavid.

Now, it'll get brought up again once he's in the NHL. One season on Draisaitl's wing and all the folks can point and laugh at Adams all over again. (It's still a good trade for the Sabres.)

A lot of people loved the deal at the time, too, there’s also that

We had been begging for a prospect for player trade

It’s funny - the deals the fans like are good, who knew

Wrong on Cozens.

Ehlers reportedly was okay with a trade to Buffalo but would not negotiate an extension at the time. Probably to walk him to the much more lucrative, higher cap Summer of '25.

And even if a guy rejects a trade, his opinion can very easily change if that one team is suddenly offering a lot more than anyone else. I’m not trying to suggest anything about Ehlers when I say it, it’s just meant to be more generic of a statement.

Nope

(a) Ehlers turned down a trade to Buffalo recently - why would he openly sign here?

(b) UFA doesn't begin until next week

My recollection is that the story was Ehlers was willing to accept a trade to Buffalo but declined to extend.  He wants to go to UFA and see what he can get.

Don’t understand the bitching when you look at that terrible terrible contract Peterka signed

we just offloaded Mittelstadt, cozens; and now Peterka either a year in or just before the stupid contracts set in

Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere but Craig Rivet was on After the Whistle saying "JJ Peterka was more concerned about serving drinks being a bar at 4 o'clock in the morning". Said off the ice he was making poor decisions.

Probably doesn't bode well on this team with most of the core either being familymen (Tage, Tuch, Power) or just hyper focused on hockey (Dahlin).

I like that we always have to trash the players personally on the way out lmao

Youngest team in hockey! But…act like you are old and act like you don’t care about winning

I did read about some off the ice stuff. I don't know what's true but if it is I think he moved to the wrong city.

Friedman on the Fan 590 is adamant ADAMANT that Kesselring was a guy Adams was specifically targeting, and one league person told him earlier this summer “if one guy moves it’s Kesselring to Buffalo”

Your honor, the Prosecution presents as evidence another grievous example of Kevyn Adams being totally worthless as the general manager of a NHL franchise.

If this statement from Friedman is true, he is inept beyond compare. No wonder the Sabres are in the position that they are. Armstrong should be arrested for child abuse. It's tragic and comical to everyone who isn't a fan of the Sabres.

The auto dealers in town must love it when he goes shopping for a new car for the little lady.

It’s just stories to make ourselves feel better. It’ll soon be put out that he as a drunk too, if history is any indication

Bad apple, had to go

adams is building a culure, here

This move sure opens the door for those rumoured Rust or Rakell for Huselius or #9 short-term gain for long-term pain deals.

Should I be worried? Excited?

At this point dudacek, whatever it takes to get this team competitive and playoff bound. To myself in any event, a good roster that can finish is like satisfying an appetite, it’s rather ridiculously obscene the amount of offense talent this team has. It’s been well past time to stop choking that chicken and let the gravy flow.

I saw that on Reddit.

Meh. I recall similar talk about O'Reilly and Eichel (and maybe others) in connection with their departures/disaffection.

If Peterka played defense worth a damn and didn't have an agent who was clamoring for his client to leave Buffalo, no one would give a hoot about his affection for late nights at local licensed establishments.

I think the players should party even harder. Games will be a breeze if your body is used to showing up for practice on 4 hours of sleep, hungover, mouth tasting like an ashtray.

We called that sandbagging in my day.

He said the probably doesn’t bode well bit?

Or was that you

I look at it from the perspective that many of the players that I assumed would have been P.O'd by this trade... and want to leave this cheapskate franchise next, might actually not be as upset as I first thought.
