I brought up Vladar earlier as his GAA and save percentage numbers been solid minus 2023-2024. To me he's as good as can find as a 1B you can find. I keep UPL to pair with him and eventually Levi.

This is where Jarmo would come in. Adams is so obsessed with Levi being the answer that he can’t see any other option. Hopefully Jarmo can shake it up a bit in that front office.

Ive always liked Vladar but he’s never taken that step I thought he would.

Forsberg,  with a high bid on AAV (cause taxes and tree types) but low term.  Give him a legit chance to capture a 1a role and spin it into a long term deal in summer of 2026/27.  Don’t use trade capital on a Demko or others this year.  Use Bo + prospects + Draft picks to solidify two RD/stay at home types.  Then see results of a 1a/1b tandem can do. We need at least one season with a respectable top 4 group.

Question is how much does the offer have to be over others to convince a UFA to sign with Buffalo? If he was $2.75M in OTT would $4M do it?

We don't need 2 rhd stay at homes, we need one for Power. Dahlin needs a lhd stay at home type.

Just because he can play on his off-hand, doesn’t mean he should.  Dahlin provides flexibility that other defenders do not but for planning, it needs to be RD.  In addition, others on the farm (little Nikita and RJ) are LD and will soon need a vet RD to support.  Let’s cross that bridge now in stead of waiting like they did with Owen.

We all agree they need an experienced #1 NHL goalie right? That you can't run upl/ Levi and expect any hope of playoffs?

I honestly don’t even think about goalie upgrades. We are going on 6 years now it’s just not an area Adams addresses. I guess with Jarmo in the fold I should at least start considering the possibility

If we see a substantial move, it’s likely due to his influence

Trade for Demko a possibility?

I like this idea. I am absolutely not married to the idea of Levi becoming a franchise goalie. Demko has a lot of skill and IF he can stay healthy, can be a steal for Buffalo. And he is only signed for 1 more year

Sometimes you have to gamble a bit and you’re buying low. Capitals got lucky with that position last year.

Jarmo, being a Finn, could also tell UPL to shape up or he will be shipped out in his native tongue.

Dahlin actually looks better on his off-side

Demko might be very available given how good Silovs has been in the Abbotsford Canucks playoff run. He's no longer waiver exempt and so Canucks might decide to move Demko and keep him.

It would take some cap finagling but I'd be happy to give him a shot. Let him and UPL compete

Dahlin prefers his off side.

Nikita Novikov actually has more pro experience than Owen Power. Finding a veteran 3rd line rhd isn't a big concern impo but maybe Fabbro or Perbix can be slotted there.

They already extended Lankinen, so I assume theyre moving demko either this offseason or at the deadline.

Me personally?  Step 1 is getting rid of UPL somehow.

Cap finagling isn't the problem some people keep thinking it is. You can move bodies out if you are a creative GM. It's done constantly around the league.

I don't see the urgency in getting rid of UPL. If we got Demko he starts, Levi can battle UPL for the back up job and if he earns it definitively then you can look at it but otherwise you start Levi in Rochester and let it play out the way these things play out on other teams. Rookies EARNING jobs, not being given them.
