PerreaultForever Posted yesterday at 04:30 AM Report Posted yesterday at 04:30 AM I liked the Landeskog fairy tale story better than the Rantanen revenge tour but what can you do. He certainly came alive and stuck it to them. The late penalty was bs though. That was most definitely not a late game tied game 7 playoff call. Hated that. Guess the refs feared a long overtime and wanted to go home. 1 1 Quote
SwampD Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago I had no problem with the penalty. I have always hated the idea of "put the whistles away and let them play." A penalty is a penalty no matter when it happens and it’s not like it was a borderline judgement call. He did tackle the guy. 1 1 Quote
Night Train Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago Heck of a series I vaguely remember those 20 + years ago. Quote

They did not score on the 4 min. advantage in the 1st and messed up the one they got in the third. Blackwood slid too far for the wrap around goal. Otter made key saves. Avs got no one to blame but themselves. The huge amount of roster turnover they had this year had to play a role. You can appreciate the all in attempt to win the cup but it backfired. A lot of the in season pickups, Nelson, Coyle, Lindgren and even Necas did not come through in the playoffs. They could have kept Rantanen and let him walk after the playoffs for nothing. Maybe they would have walked away with the cup. Who knows what would have happened if Dallas did not go get Rantanen. Maybe it would have worked out for the Avs. I read the Avs boards every so often and that fan base is going crazy on management right now even though most of them liked the Rantanen trade. They never thought it would come back to haunt them. I thought we were a harsh bunch but every fan base is demanding Quote

The heroic late goal to tie up the game (and then winning it) A packed house cheering on the home Sabres And I would love if they could get a goal chant as iconic as the one the Stars have. It's hard to understand how loud that's playing from the TV feed. The music is jet engine loud and the crowd drowns it out. It's utterly demoralizing to the other team (and their fans.... I've only been to Stars games in Dallas when they play the Sabres). Edited 13 hours ago by Doohickie Quote

I'm a put the whistles away type of guy unless it's a clear breakaway or assault. I'd rather they had played it out 5 on 5. Colorado imo is an overrated team. Good, but not great. McKinnon is a beast and ultra elite and Makar is absolutely elite, but the rest of that team is nothing special relative to other top teams. Dallas is, and has been for quite a while, a very highly disciplined and structured team that plays a team concept. hence they survived the absence of a couple top players and the star player they added in Rantanen came through for them in the clutch. I don't know if Dallas can score enough to win the cup but they will be a tough out. 1 Quote

GoPuckYourself Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Pretty impressive that Dallas beat Colorado minus Robertson & Heiskanan. I enjoyed that series the most. 1 Quote
Porous Five Hole Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago First time the Jets have ever hosted a Game Seven. I found that interesting because I was in the building for Derek Plante’s game seven OT winner…it shaped my fan hood. Let’s get it on! 1 1 Quote

It wasn’t egregious and it wasn’t a clear cut hold. They were pretty tangled up. You just can’t make that call in a game seven with five minutes left. It’s that simple. Not one like that. Quote

K012010 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Wow. Helly has at least still been pretty good at home despite his playoff struggles. I honestly feel bad for this guy. This is absolutely rough. I agree with the sentiment of the Jets coach, and also the players that it really wasn’t all on him. The Jets are really not playing that right in front of them in some of these games. But this is bad. He’s letting it goals that are right in front of them that he and any top goaltender should make 99% of the time. I can’t believe comrie might have to step in as the savior in the game seven here. How does the goalie of Connor’s level fold this badly in the playoffs? His contract is such a conundrum because of how good he is in the regular season and then how bad he is in the playoffs. Has there ever been any goalie with this big of a disparity between the two? K012010 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Just now, Thorny said: Yeah, I was just saying this the whole team kind of stops playing here and there in front of Connor. Sometimes the Jets look so dominant it’s crazy, but they also sometimes look like we would beat them six to one. 3 Quote
