  1. 1. How many games do you go to per year?

    • I live in Buffalo, but can't afford/be bothered to go.

Thanks Chz I'll look a bit harder this year. I remember searching around last year and couldn't find any much cheaper than the Hyatt. Thing is I want to be downtown (walking distance to arena) and there aren't too many deals there. Except January, prices always seem much lower that whole month.

Go through hotwire.com

They're one of those sights that don't tell you the hotel until you pay for it. But the Hyatt is the only 4 star hotel downtown. Ha!

Do you find them during your raids, or do you ransom the babies you take for them? If the latter, do you usually have to eat one first to set the tone, or do they take you seriously right from the start?

He ransoms the babies, and then when the hostage exchange meeting occurs, in a brutal act of betrayal, he beheads the Raleigh mayor and his lieutenants, kills all the babies, and then forcefully takes all of the women away to the makeshift rapery in the parking lot, which I'm guessing is a van protected by free giveaway pint glasses.

Yes, but those tactics only worked once. Sometimes one of my STH friends offers me a seat, and I offer to pay but they only let me buy them a few beers in return. Probably because they fear my pillaging skills. But most of the time my neighbor strong arms some work vendors to get us seats. No matter what you hear about hockey in the Triangle.....seats are never, ever hard to come by no matter how big the game.

I've heard rumors of them actually playing hockey games in Raleigh when the Sabres aren't in town, but I've never truly put any stock in the rumor. Are there even lines for beer?

If I ever go to a Sabres-Canes game in Raleigh and the parking lot isn't a total post-apocalyptic Lord of the Flies, wherein a Sabres fan is chieftain and some Canes fan has been physically crushed by a large object, I'mma be pretty disappointed.

Prepare to be severely disappointed then, man. The baby eating and raping and pillaging is just a joke exaggeration of all the whining Canes fans did about us Sabres fans. I've been kicked out of their stadium on at least 5 or 6 occasions but the worst that has happened was a few fights/altercations that got broken up in the stands before they even got started and a couple of fights in the parking lots. Maybe there have been worse altercation I wasn't involved in but I'm pretty much genuinely despised by their fans and security so I'd assumed I was under their microscope for a reason.

He won't be disappointed if the Canes decide to hand out souvenirs that can be turned into weapons again.

In response to nfreeman (for some reason I can't quote your post),

That wasn't a typo, I've been kicked out of the RBC Center or whatever it's called now at least 5 or 6 times. I'll be the first to admit that I share at least some responsibility in it, but for the most part I can honestly say it either wasn't fully justified or at the very least I shouldn't have been the only one escorted out.

I'm definitely the anti-Chet. I cheer, stand, yell, pound copious amounts of beer and root for my team with a big mouth and a voice that carries. I almost always keep my language clean though because I am mindful that there are kids around. That usually leads to ###### talking from the local fan base about me, my family, the Sabres, the Bills, the city of Buffalo, or whatever they think will get under my skin. Which usually leads to an equal level of insults from me about the South, inbreeding, Nascar, Dale Earnhardt, and whatever I think will get under their skin.

All of this is completely fine with me and some of the guys I've verbally sparred with I've even joked with in the beer lines or outside smoking during intermissions. Some of them take it personally though and use being the home fan to their advantage by throwing beer or popcorn on me and trying to slink off into the crowd or pretend it didn't happen. A few times I've had things thrown at me and went after the guy who threw it, one time in a half empty arena where I climbed back over 6 or 7 mostly empty rows of seats and security got to me just before I got to him. Other times security squashes it before it gets to that point and a couple of times they've given me the boot just because it appeared that things were heading that way.

I will say that it hasn't been as bad lately though. I don't think I've been kicked out since 2010 or 2011 and I hardly ever miss a Sabres game there.

I don't think they'll ever be that stupid again. On the other hand we could always be more resourceful. You can shred a beer can with you teeth and make a handy shank with some seriously jagged edges in a pinch if you have to, ha ha!

I know this. I'm perpetuating the legend/joke. If we're going to be treated like a viking barbarian horde, we should (continue to) laugh at them and play it up.

Definitely this.

I only go to a preseason game every year...one where I can pick up tickets for a fraction of the cost.

I want to show up once a year just to get a 'feel' for the Arena and what it is like to see a game in person. I can do that at a preseason game. As far as watching a game that matters, High-def and a big-screen work for me for the regular season.

0 games but do hope to come watch one this or next year , make a two week vacation out of it or something :D

Prost!

I haven't been to a game in the past year or two, but I usually make at least one of the Philly games, and I've been to games in Raleigh[0], DC[1], and MSG[2] in the past. Sad as it is to say, I don't think I've been to a game in Buffalo since it was the MMA in the late 90s.

[0] Game 1 of the ECF (the original rape and pillage game, I think I still have one of the glasses. "It's in our Blood" hahahahaha)

[1] There have been a few, but one was the game after Mike Grier was traded to Buffalo from DC

[2] Rangers scored 4 goals on Miller in the first half of the first period. :(

I've never been to Buffalo but a game in Buffalo is on my bucket list. My wife keeps teasing me to go next year. She moved over from Malaysia at 17 and went to college and lived in New York for a couple of years so she'd like to go back to the area. My live hockey fix comes from games in Vancouver but to be honest its been a couple of years.
