Sure Kotalik is a one-trick pony...

Actually a two-trick pony - if you count the shoot-out talent.

I'll admit to being at the front of the line for Kotalik's future banishment from this roster, but...

The shoot-out/ PP point shot factor has me wondering.

I would say you have to consider bringing him back at the right price.

Let's compare to another shoot-out-wizard-with-shortcomings, Jussi Jokinen.

2 years, $ 3.4 M.

It sounds like a good Darcy-deal, right???

Kotalik ain't coming back. He's a decent 2-trick pony, but he's not what this team needs, and they aren't going to give up on MacArthur or Paille, or keep Kennedy or Gerbe in Portland, in favor of more of the same from Kotalik.

I do expect him to latch on somewhere though.

I'm not desperate for a signing...I'm just desperate.

Even those 'zinger' posts gave me a rise thinking about zingers...hmmmm...zingers

cream-filled zingers...

Dolly Madison zingers...

hmmm....Dolly Madison....

But seriously, just thinking about getting him cheap and for the intangibles.

To me, some SO wins with his aid mean a lot come the beginning of April.

The softness is a problem though.

What if he takes Hecht's spot on the roster?

Love it. :D

I guess the whole 'Rivet-is-good-friends-with-Saku' argument doesn't hold much water.

I guess the friendship is not that strong to bring Koivu here.

It obvously is not as strong as...let's say...the bond between Mike Grier and Chris Drury.

Oh wait...maybe it's that 'no-one-wants-to-play-for-Buffalo-or-in-Buffalo' deal.*

*I have also used up all my hyphens for the season.

I have been spending them frivolously and saving my lower-case a's for the hope that the Sabres sign Ossi Vaananen.

Anyways...I wonder if FA Grier makes his way to the NYR for the reunion with Captain Clutch.

Or maybe Grier goes to Chicago to hang out with Soupy? Or the Predators to hang with JP? Or maybe Jersey to hang with Zubrus?

All I know is this whole "oh he's friends with this guy" pretty much means nothing beyond juniors. Obviously if Koivu has offers from Anaheim and Buffalo, he's going to pick Anaheim. If I didn't have any local ties to Buffalo, I wouldn't come here. Let's be realistic here.

Sure man and you want Kotalik???? He did absolutely nothing for us. Sure he has a blast from the point which he rarely ever used and another thing he didn't use was his 227 pound body. Jeez when Gerbe came up he was more physical. Were trying to improve the team this year not keep the same inconsistant team.

Intangibles.

Valuable intangibles.

Only if he comes cheap.

And definitely not to impair the development or roster spot of a prospect.

He's soft.

He has a downside.

It is not enough to ignore the plus side of the man.

The shoot-out skills argument sells itself. He's money.

Or maybe Max goes to Florida, signs a two-way contract, goes down to the farm to hang-out with Ted Nolan.

"Six degrees of Ridiculous Seperation"

In another one: FA Danny Gare goes on quest to find the missing Brian Blessing, togehter they go to eastern Canada to fish with Jim Lorentz.

I'd hate to ruin your fun, but Afinogenov was drafted after Nolan was already gone.

I've decided that we need to sign Kurtis Foster. Why? Well ...

1) 6'5", 218 lbs

2) Right handed

3) Power play specialist

4) Cheap

and the kicker ...

5) He's from Carp, Ontario

(OK, really, I know nothing about the guy. Looks like he's been a #7 defenseman for the Wild and had some big injuries over the last two years. So, I'm not actually advocating signing him; just couldn't pass up pointing out his home town.)

No Carp boy for the Sabres.
