  1. To me Nolan's primary purpose this year and next is to help at developing the young players. If he sucks at it, he can go at the end of the year.
  2. Can't wait to hear the results of the poll.
  3. Good move, but a head scratcher as to why it wasn't this way for the opener. I'd also like to see Deslauriers eventually get a shot in the top 9 in place of Foligno. IMO, he has more offensive upside, yet still provides the physical element.
  4. First big Sabres TANK VS TANK game next Tue against Carolina!
  5. Help...If I pick up a player, does he go on my active roster that same day, or the next day?
  6. For the TWC subscribers who follow the Amerks... http://amerks.com/television.asp?season=2012-13&type=regular
  7. By 2016, much more progress will be done on Canalside(Aud site), the HarborCenter will be full operational(Marriott), and hopefully an announcement will be made by then by Pegula, that the new Bills stadium will be built adjacent to the FNC. :)
  8. If this is an announcement about the draft in 2016, I'd guess that the ASG is in Buffalo by 2020 at the latest.
  9. It wouldn't be surprise me if that weasel Bettman is now trying to be buddy buddy with Pegs now that he is also an NFL owner i.e. throw some events his way(draft/all star game/winter classic)
  10. Then maybe there should be a tank tracking thread. I guarantee you that anti-tankers are going to get more upset as the season goes on, and someone will post something that will lead to mods stepping in, and people leaving or getting banned. Just let us pro tankers go about our business, and all will be fine! :P :P :P
  11. I agree. This should be a thread for "pro tank" talk only. A place that all those who can't bear to think about a tank will never have to visit.
  12. Good for the area, couldn't care less about the event.
  13. Does nothing for me. I'd rather have the draft
  14. There was very little of last nights game that was physical. It was not fun to watch. The 3 comparisons listed above are all reaches. Brad May was more entertaining in 1 game than Foligno has been in 3 seasons, and Girgensons has a long way to go to be mentioned in the same breath as Peca. Gionta = Audette? I guess, even though you always wonder about when a player will hit the brick wall when he reaches the wrong side of 30. Nolan's team from the 90's was entertaining beyond belief. There is nothing about this years team that even remotely reminds me of that team.
  15. I wish I could laugh. Lose 6-5, hit, fight, and show heart, and I will walk away not feeling like I have been bent over. Play like last night, and I will be avoiding the FNC like the plague. I thought this over the summer, and I continue to believe that there will be more blowouts than close games this year. I was not a Miller fan, but that guy kept a lot of games close last year. Get ready for a LOT of losses by 3 or more goals.
  16. As I channel surfed a lot last night with the Center Ice preview, I realized that there is a lot of good hockey being played in the NHL...outside of Buffalo.
  17. If you are talking about my thread title, I was referring to this years draft being the 1/2 way point with the draft next year being the end goal(McDavid/Eichel). I wasn't saying that the Sabres will instantly be great come 15-16.
  18. Most discouraging is getting outshot 2 to 1 on opening night at home against an injury depleted team. All I ask for is positive signs from the young players, but as I look at the current roster, I wonder who that is right now beyond Risto, Zadorov, Rinehart & Girgensons(and two of them will probably be back in juniors by the end of the month). The rest of team is as likely to be gone as they are to remain by the end of the 15-16 season. As a STH, I see my money being flushed down the toilet right before my eyes. Please tell me we do not end up like Edmonton.
  19. TANKITY TANK TANK TANK.
  20. 15 hits, 20 shots, 1 goal. What a surprise the arena was dead.
  21. Outshot 40-22, CBJ hit 3 goalposts in the 1st period, it was fairly one-sided, and looked a LOT like last year....and this was against a team with several key injuries and whose star player just joined the team yesterday.
  22. Is it just me or does Reinhart flail his arms more than most players while skating without the puck?
  23. I had no idea when I started out as an IT professional(civil servant) 30+ years ago, that I would stay in one place the entire time. Like I said, I consider myself fortunate, and never like to hear about people who HAVE to work into their mid-60's and 70's. I am not referring to people who have the means to retire, but choose to continue to work late into their life. Post retirement health insurance for so many sucks, it really makes retiring difficult. :(
