  1. Really? If that is the case, he wouldn't be in the press box, would he? Maybe its just the jump to the NHL and that will eventually fix itself in the coming years, but Grigs has been a complete no-show in terms of the offensive zone. I expected more flashes of his skills. Like I said...that is why he is in the press box.
  2. Agree. Ask Edmonton how far all that talent in their top 6 is getting them.
  3. I would rather move any of the "elite" blueline prospects(Brennan, Pysyk, McNabb, JGL, McCabe, Scheistel, blah blah blah) before I moved Sekera, but in the right deal(O'Reilly) where you have to give to get, if the Avs wanted Sekera+, so be it.
  4. I agree with this 100%(especially the bolded part). This is the same reason why Buddy Nix was a horrible choice for GM of the Bills. While he may be a good talent evaluator, I don't think he has a clue of how to build a team.
  5. Maybe the plan is etched in stone, but won't take effect until the offseason. ;)
  6. I don't see the danger. It's interim. It was clear from the minute the news broke yesterday, that it would be one of Lindy's assistants or Rolston for the rest of the season. Did you expect different?
  7. I heard Jeremy White this morning talking about Rolston's accomplishments at Lake Superior State, winning championships blah blah blah. What he didn't say was that he was not the HEAD COACH during that time. The only times in his career he has been a head coach was when he was in charge of the US kiddies, and Rochester for 1-1/2 seasons. I'm not saying he can't succeed, but not only is he very green at the pro hockey level, but also as a head coach of anyone except teenagers. Unless he is also adept at changing water into wine, and can turn this mess around in the next 30 games, I think he is nothing more than a placeholder until the end of the season.
  8. You can only DVR one program at a time, and The Bachelor is on tonight? :P
  9. While it would have been nice to see Ruff win a Cup here in Buffalo, I'll be selfish, and say that I just want to see a Stanley Cup parade in my lifetime, and I don't care who the players or coaches are when it finally happens. The same could be said(wanting to see them hoist a Cup in Buffalo) for Perreault, Hasek, LaFontaine, Foligno, Punch, Schoenfeld, Ramsay, Ramsey, etc.. We can only hope that Pegs finally has this organization heading in the right direction.
  10. I am very interested to see what moves the Sabres make between now and the deadline. If there is little to no activity leading up to the deadline other than something like Leopold for a pick, I would guess that DR, along with the entire coaching staff may be sent packing in the offseason. This is assuming that the Sabres continue along at a pace that would have them on the outside looking in, and even if they make a run for 8th, DR's hands may still be tied. If it means the remainder of the dynamic duo is gone come April, I am completely okay with this strategy.
  11. I was in California visiting friends during the '80 Olympics. I saw the US vs. USSR game out there :) , but was on my flight home during the gold medal game. :(
  12. As a 10 year old, I was convinced that Trottier would somehow end up a Sabre, and become a great NHL player. Little did I know. PS I'm feeling old. Trottier will turn 72 in April.
  13. It was from NHL Tonight. They had brief clips of several Sabres including Vanek. I assume it was after they arrived in Toronto.
  14. Vanek commenting on Lindy..."I had my ups and downs with him".
  15. Considering I haven't been posting much, I'd love to know about how I am grilling all of your posts "lately"? C'mon Jack, you're better than this.
  16. "The hockey world knows how I and the entire Buffalo Sabres organization feel about Lindy Ruff not only as a coach but also as a person. His long tenure with the Sabres has ended. His qualities have made this decision very difficult. I personally want Lindy to know that he can consider me a friend always."
  17. While I am happy that they are finally changing coaches, it was a very classy act on Ruff's part to drive to the airport to say his goodbyes to the players before they left for Toronto.
  18. While McCormick is not anything more than a 4th liner, he is miles ahead of where Scott is or ever will be as a hockey player. Did Cody kick you dog or steal your girlfriend?
  19. So you'd rather have a 4th line with Scott instead of McCormick?
