Before you fall too much in love with them(Ruhwedel, Pysyk, etc....), just remember that everyone was proclaiming McNabb to be a savior last season after a small number of games, and then he proceeded to spend thIs entire year in the AHL.

The Sabres would have to lose out, but there is still a chance they could bottom out at 5th overall(prior to lottery). No way they are passing Carolina, Florida, Colorado, or Calgary.

I don't think putting Grigs on one of the top 2 lines is going to make any difference(this year). I know people have high hopes for him, but he was terrible during his time here. I'd get him to Rochester for the rest of this season, and if he still looks like the same player come September, I'd send him back to the Q....again. I would not be surprised if DR kept him here in Buffalo for the rest of the season, so that the potential for Grigs looking bad at the AHL level is avoided, and therefore, he doesn't have to answer any criticism.

Your quote at the end was in regards to being run over by a bus, and I thought you were referring to the "beating" he takes.

Give me a break. This isn't the old NHL where defensemen could assault you if you came near the net. You can barely touch a guy in front of the net now without getting a two minute penalty. Yes, I'm sure he gets whacked here and there, but it isn't close to being as you described. Like I said, If you are a fan of Vanek, you will play the "he is playing hurt" card....every season over and over and over again.

I still don't get how Vanek can skate like a madman(see early this season when he was AMAZING), and then revert to someone who looks like he has 50 pound weights around each ankle. He has had spurts like this before, but they are far and few in between. His supporters will say it is because he is always playing hurt....I don't know what to believe anymore, but I'm close to being ready to turn the page on him.

I'm all in favor of sending Vanek and Miller packing in the off-season, but tonight is a preview of how bad things could get next season. You are dreaming if you think Grigs, Armia, Girgenson, etc.. are going to be difference makers come October. How are the 2014 draft prospects looking?
