  1. The last time an NHL team made a move comparable to this it was the Charles Wang Islanders hiring their backup goalie Garth Snow as their new GM. I can tell you for a fact that is not good company to be in.
  2. The executive experience was entirely on the business end.
  3. So if he scored 10 extra points (which given that the team had fallen completely off a cliff is anything but a given) he would've increased his total from last year by 6 points. That doesn't fail to change the fact that failing to utilize one of his biggest strengths was completely stupid. And here is a narrative that is NOT made up: Despite Jack having one of the greatest seasons in team history (that would've been a serious Hart candidate had he played for an actual NHL quality team) the team failed to qualify for a 24 team playoff, and had the season not halted there was an excellent chance of a bottom 5 finish (which would've been even more impressive given the unusually high number of simply flat out awful teams this past season).
  4. Also remember that Kreuger made the baffling decision to have Dahlin not go forward on rushes/attacks, essentially neutralizing one of his biggest strengths which is why his production fell this past season.
  5. Here's the problem: we have a GM who literally has the same amount of experience as a pro hockey executive as every poster on this board. The odds of him being able to shark Tampa (or really anyone in the league) are insanely remote (which is why only very stupid teams hire unqualified yes men for the GM position). In fact I absolutely expect Adams to get destroyed when he makes his first big move and dig the hole even deeper.
  6. Torts: "I need to come up with a foolproof plan to beat the Leafs in game 5... I GOT IT!!!"
  7. The only job in pro hockey Botterill should ever be allowed to have again is as a hot dog vendor in the stands.
  8. The problem is actually far far worse: We don't have nearly enough good players on our roster or in our organization to even get on the road. And one thing about Carolina people don't understand: from 2015 on they were actually a good team that got murdered by off the charts horrible goaltending. Not fixing that is what caused Ronnie to lose his job despite having done a real good job at putting together the rest of the roster and prospect base.
  9. I miss Roy Rogers the most. Only exist in thruway rest stops these days. Would go there after mass in as a kid and go to the all you can eat fried chicken bar, it was awesome.
  10. The Pegulas literally did a PowerPoint presentation to their employees telling them that a pillar of PSE was allowing them to maintain their lifestyle. I mean that should've opened everyone's eyes wider than drinking an oil drum filled with expresso.
  11. Smart organizations target guys who are undervalued because of outdated thinking/market inefficiencies. It's actually something that Bill Bellichek was great at and why the Pats were dominant for two decades in an era where that should've been impossible in the NFL.
  12. History lesson: in the early 90's a young Yankees prospect drew the ire of George Steinbrerner and he ordered his GM (Gene Michael) to trade him ASAP. Stick told him he would not do so because it would be a terrible mistake, and eventually he talked The Boss out of it. Good thing for the Yankees he did because you know who that kid was? Bernie Williams. Botts needed to do what Stick did but he bottled it and as a result will live in infamy.
  13. But as I pointed out elsewhere: What good is clearing out spots for developing prospects when you don't have any serious prospects to develope?
  14. That was among the finest kickings of Botterill's GM corpse I have seen yet, well done!
  15. Like this team will even make the playoffs this decade.
  16. I became a Sabres fan on April 14th 1997. What happened on April 13th? I said goodbye to the team that I loved more than any other team who I have ever rooted for and was just about the most painful day of my entire life. Decided to support the Sabres because they were based in NYS and were the only one of the 3 remaining Adams Division teams I didn't hate. Also loved Nolan from his days as a Whalers assistant. So of course he was de facto fired after the season. Favorite Sabre: But before Tage it was Captain Crunch: At that period of time I was really close to just checking out of the sport altogether. Honestly I will probably never get over losing my Whalers and there isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about them and just how much I miss them. But those late 90's Sabres were the reason I didn't just give up on the sport. They were a blue collar team that punched way above their weight and nobody else epitomized more than Mike Peca. Most exiting moment: Really that whole 99 run to the finals. Most frustrating: Game 7 vs Carolina. Seeing that slimy disgusting lying bastard Karmanos get his filthy hands on the cup at our expense made me sick beyond words. At least karma got that SOB in the end and his own kids hate him. How to improve the current situation: I quote the legendary Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on how he would've fixed WCW: "I would've got everyone who was running the place in a room and rolled in a hand grenade".
  17. At this point giving the Pegulas the benefit of the doubt on anything is very unwise. Imagine being bigger failures and more incompetent as an NHL owner than Melnyk.
  18. We should be praying to God that Sanderson rises into the top 7 to push back someone who is a forward which is what we desperately need.
  19. Someone posted elsewhere that he said we would be offering our 3rd rounder this year as part of it. If he indeed said that it would be the most hilarious thing ever for obvious reasons.
