The team was total dogshit the entire season, the fact that the team was getting wins late they absolutely didn't deserve due to massive puck luck and the backup goalie going on a heater doesn't change anything. Watch that last game where they almost choked away a 4-1 lead to an absolutely horrid Flyers team.

Yeah, that might be an acceptable trade off if he didn't load the Islanders with an old and awful roster full of guys on long term albatross deals with nmc's. The only thing that propped up the Isles was Trotz and if ANYONE on this board should know this it's me as I was an Isles STH for a decade until I got priced out after the first season at UBS.

That was literally Trotz being so great he could overcome Lou's horrid decisions and make chicken salad out of chicken *****. The Isles roster sucks ass, none of them can be moved with ntc's and they have a barren prospect base. Bridgeport won FOUR ***** GAMES AT HOME THIS ENTIRE SEASON. Lou absolutely sucks.

So let me get this straight: Benson, who earned a spot in the NHL as hard as it's possible to earn it (they absolutely wanted him to go back to the WHL but he gave them no choice but to put and keep him on the roster) needs to be sent to Rochester to send a message he needs to "earn his spot"? And the fact that his metrics on both ends of the ice are off the charts and that if other players played the game the way he does we would be playing playoff games right now should be ignored because puck luck has led to point production not matching the metrics? Do I have this right?

Fascinating AHL history was made today as the Bridgeport Islanders ended their 36 game home schedule with FOUR total wins, setting a new record for worst home record in an AHL season. If you doubled the team's current point total of 37 to 74 it would only be better in the East than Utica and Hartford (tied with Springfield).

That was how the Whalers kept making it when Quebec went completely to *****. Fun fact: Sabres-Whalers was the only old 5 team Adams Division match-up that never happened.

I never loved a team more and not a day goes by where I don't think about them and how much I miss my Whalers. Burn in Hell Peter Karmanos and Governor Convicted Fellon.

The ownership ended up a total fiasco but I distinctly recall that the arena really just didn't want hockey at that point but "kicked out" might be too strong a term. Regardless, it took an absolutely bonkers situation for that relocation to happen.

Doing great with Rochester. Get call up to Sabres. Come back to Rochester as a far worse player than they were.

That appears to be quite an indictment on the Sabres coaching staff.

Only two relocations in the last quarter century and only happened because both teams were literally kicked out of their respective arenas.

If the Sabres didn't suck you would be able to make it up by selling your weekend games vs the Red Wings or Islanders and make a good amount of money back. And ask the Blackberry guy how easy it is to waltz in, buy a team and move it. That doesn't happen in the NHL.

Why would they move a team instead of take a north of a billion dollar expansion fee? It's the single worst kept secret on earth that Atlanta and Houston are getting expansion teams, they aren't relocating a 55 year old team and wiping their ***** with a billion dollars. And I find this whole thing even more hilarious when you realize there's a team in Canada struggling at the gate despite being a constant contender/playoff team. If the Sabres were playing at that level the STH wait list would stretch from Buffalo to Boise.
