ESPN's hockey coverage has really gone downhill lately but here's a Sabres tidbit in their article: http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/25387527/nhl-takeaways-concerns-bold-predictions-all-31-teams-quarter-season-mark Buffalo Sabres Preseason standings point projection: 80.5 Current standings point pace:116 No. 1 takeaway thus far: That the hockey world had to wait far too long for Jeff Skinner to play with an elite center. With all due respect to Victor Rask, Riley Nash, Elias Lindholm and Eric Staal (before he figured out how to be Eric Staal again in Minnesota), playing with Jack Eichel has been revelatory for Skinner, who has 18 goals through 24 games. Yes, Jack has a history of boosting his linemates' shooting percentages. But Skinner went from an 8.7 percent clip to a 22.5 percent clip so far this season. That's incredible. Biggest concern: There are some underlying metrics that are encouraging, like the fact that this isn't just a ride on the PDO train (the Sabres have a PDO of 100.8, with league average at 100). But they're on the negative side of possession (49.3 Corsi for percentage) and are just a plus-3 in 5-on-5 goal differential. But honestly, the biggest concern is that either Eichel or Skinner goes down with an injury; not only because they have a history of doing so, but because that top line is a such an engine for this team. Bold prediction: Jeff Skinner's contract situation lingers through the season into the postseason, and the phrase "testing the market" starts to send shivers down Buffalo fans' spines.

He's also gone from 1st pairing Dman to a 3rd pairing Dman. Which says a lot for the improvement of our D corps

Send him down to Rochester, he can't develop up here

I'm almost in shock at this game. The last 3 wins versus TB Lightning, Winnipeg and now a HOT Wild team. Maybe my sarcastic meter is off right now but who cares who's on whatever line. These guys are on fire and have more heart than any Sabre team of recent vintage. Dahlin you magnificent bast@rd you.

Hutton was the #1 reason we won this game but having said that, anyone who says we didn't deserve this game well I don't recall anyone giving us the 2 points after the Rangers game when Lundqvist was the only reason we lost that game. Lundyboy stole it, Hutton stole it back is the way I see it. Larsson and Girgs may be incapable of putting the puck in the net for us but you just have to admire their grit. They give it all they have on the ice. I'm also not giving up any part of our future for a short term 2C. Let Casey grow into the role, you never know it may all click in the 2nd half of the year and he turns into one this year. I would love to know what Dahlin thinks of his short time in the NHL. You know this 18 year old kid is bursting at the seams. Milbury points out his bad plays but I noticed he never said anything about Hedman being a -2 in that game. What a butthead. -

TONIGHT’S GAME LIGHTNING at SABRES This is the first of four meetings between the Sabres and Lightning this season. Last meeting: Tampa Bay defeated Buffalo 7-5 in Tampa on April 6 Next meeting: Thursday, Nov. 29 in Tampa The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Lightning; 2-5-3 at home This is the 99th game all-time between Buffalo and Tampa Bay; Buffalo has a 54-36-8 series record. The Sabres are 25-18-5 at home against the Lightning all-time. THIS DAY IN SABRES HISTORY The Sabres are 11-8-2 all-time on November 13 November 13, 1983: Mike Foligno and Gilbert Perreault each score a hat trick in an 11-2 Sabres win vs. Calgary. November 13, 2006: Teppo Numminen appears in his 1,252nd NHL game at Carolina, surpassing Jari Kurri for the most by a European-trained player at the time. WHAT’S THE SKINNY? With 12 goals through Buffalo’s first 17 games, Jeff Skinner entered play Monday trailing only David Pastrnak (16 goals) for most in the NHL this season. With his 10th goal in the team’s 16th game of the season on Thursday at Montreal, Skinner reached the 10-goal mark quicker than any Sabres player since Thomas Vanek (10 games) in 2012-13. Only five players in franchise history have scored more goals through 17 team games than Skinner’s current total: Dave Andreychuk (17 in 1992-93), Rick Martin (14 in 1972-73 and 1973-74), Danny Gare (13 in 1980-81), Gilbert Perreault (13 in 1977-78) and Thomas Vanek (13 in 2008-09). Only Rick Vaive (14 in 1988-89) has scored more goals through his first 17 games played with the Sabres. SABRES AMONG LEAGUE-LEADERS (Sabres’ league rankings before 11/12 games) Eichel: 15 EVP (T-6th), 15 A (T-7th), 66 S (T-8th) Ristolainen: 1 OTG (T-4th), 25:15 TOI/GP (8th), 2 GWG (T-10th) Skinner: 12 G (T-2nd), 10 EVG (T-2nd), plus-11 (T-5th) Ullmark: 1 SO (T-6th) Remember GDT rules plus 1: No acne jokes No telling Mr. Flagg to STF..... you know the rest Logo hate was grandfathered into the rules so that's ok Please look for previous made GDT's before posting yours Must Win Please do not quote an entire obnoxiously long post (such as this) Please start a new thread if you want to cry some more about ROR trade If you're going to post in the GDT be a MAN and don't be a Swedish MODO Meatball or fruity Huckleberry and quit the game before it's over LETS GO BUFFALO -
I don't think Buffalo is in the mix for Nylander, 1 because Toronto would never make that deal with us unless we overpay and 2, what do you have to give Skinner if you give Nylander 8M.

You do realize Randall hasn't posted on this yet because of the fear the DoochickenMan is lying in the weeds awaiting his arrival. You unsypathetic S.O.B. ??? -
The only thing I can think of as to why he's not in the HOF is possibly the porn stache. Nothing else makes sense.

That's interesting you said this, I read the book by Peter Dexter and I couldn't get past the 2nd or 3rd episode. I'll have to try it again now that the book isn't so fresh anymore. Another series on Amazon Prime is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. A quirky comedy involving Jewish families. Watched Season 1, pretty dang good. -
Last year we were 6-17-4 for 16 points This year we are 7-5-2 for 16 points Am I the only one who thinks we are better this year???

First period we had 2 penalties called on us early, they scored on 2nd one, we owned the middle of the period, got clobbered the last 2.5 minutes Second period, an unlucky goal bounced off Hutton's back and Scandella was awful. He's the new Josh Gorges where he is incapable of completing a pass but overall we didn't play that bad but the scoreboard said otherwise Third period we owned it from beginning to end. 2 early goals and Skinner was robbed on an unbelievable effort by both he and Anderson. We just couldn't score that 3rd goal before the empty netter. Bogosian was our best defender, Dahlin still having moments of genius and rookie-itis, Risto being a physical specimen with a 2 cent brain, Casey shows signs of great skill but then tries to do too much. Reinhart is very good around 3 feet of the goal, not so good with the rest of the rink. Larsson was terrible, most of Dmen could only complete a pass to the skates or to the boards. Girgensons gives herculean effort but he is incapable of putting the puck in the net. I thought Jack had a good game but was gassed at the end, he's not the problem -

Well isn't that special, that still won't stop me from researching my copyright infringement rights in this matter though. -
Too loose or To lose would both be correct in this context. Just helping you out Mr. N S If Sheary scores on a gimme in OT we have a different outcome. Risto wasn't terrible but he always seems to be in the middle of a game blunder for us.

Watched the Jack Ryan series on Amazon, I'd give it a B+. It's concerning the Tom Clancy character and his beginnings with James Greer.
