  1. I'll go by your analysis of Hunwick as for the bolded, he wasn't on the ice for the short handed goal given up by Rasmus-II and he had his man for Rasmus' 2nd screwup. Can't blame him for that game. Although why Phil does what he does is beyond my comprehension.
  2. In with the thread title change
  3. Re-watching that Wheeler goal, 3 things went wrong, Refs obviously missed the pick play on Okposo Dahlin did not stay with Wheeler Dahlin got nutmegged for the 2nd time and the results were 2 goals scored. Course of action on #3, Swedes obviously have little testicles, need bigger cups or possible short stop training in the summertime.
  4. With all the angst on this site recently, if you had told me we would be tied with Pittsburgh with a victory today and possibly tied for 8th in the conference at the beginning of the year, would anyone in their right minds have turned that down. Even with the OT loss to the Hurricanes the other day, the chance to watch a meaningful game in February was nothing short of awesome for me. It also cracks me up when it's stated that we're not playing the young guys, if I'm not mistaken we have basically 5 rookies playing in the lineup yesterday, Tage, Ullmark, Casey, Rasmus and Pilut and we're only 2 points behind Pittsburgh. It's looking to me like expectations have overtaken reality a bit here. This is all happening with the other teams no longer taking us lightly, point in fact we get Hellebuyck in goal today, most likely against Hutton, who is due for a comeback game. He has to see the writing on the wall and wants to be relevant on this team again. The Jets have been awful these past 2 games after losing to San Jose in OT. Both games they were down 5-1 before scoring a meaningless goal in the final minute. LETS GO BUFFALO
  5. This is the biggest game of the year for the Sabres. 3 points out of a playoff spot and playing a Hurricane team that is tied with them although the Sabres do have a game in hand. Playing at home this is a MUST WIN GAME especially with Carolina winning the previous game of this 3 game series with them. The Hurricanes have had our number for a couple of years now, it's time to turn the tables on them. LETS GO BUFFALO TONIGHT’S GAME HURRICANES at SABRES This is the second of three meetings between the Sabres and Hurricanes this season. Next meeting: Saturday, March 16 at Carolina Last meeting: Carolina defeated Buffalo 4-3 at Carolina on Jan. 11 The Sabres are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games vs. the Hurricanes; 5-4-1 at home. This is the 203rd game all-time between Buffalo and Carolina; Buffalo has a 102-74-26 series record. The Sabres are 58-33-9 at home against the Hurricanes all-time. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW Tonight’s matchup is the third game of a seven-game homestand that ties the stretch from Jan. 20 to Feb. 2, 1997 as the longest in franchise history. Zach Bogosian is expected to appear in his 600th NHL game tonight. C.J. Smith has scored in each of his last two NHL games, marking the first and second goals of his career. The Sabres are seeking their first win against the Hurricanes since March 22, 2016. Jack Eichel has totaled nine points (6+3) in 10 career games against the Hurricanes, including six (3+3) in his last three. SAM I AM Sam Reinhart has been playing above a point-per-game pace since the beginning of November, having totaled 41 points (12+29) in 40 games during that span. Reinhart has already set career-high totals in assists (34) and multi-point games (14) this season. His 47 points leave him just three shy of his career high 50 from the 2017-18 season. The Sabres are 20-8-4 this season when Reinhart records at least one point and 29-4-6 (.821) in his career when he records at least two. Reinhart has yet to play two consecutive home games without recording a point in 2018-19. HOME COOKING Buffalo enters tonight’s game with a 15-7-3 (.660) record at home. The team’s .660 points percentage at home ranked ninth in the NHL entering play Wednesday. Carter Hutton is 10-5-2 at home this season with a .922 save percentage and a 2.50 goals-against average, which is impressive but I'm hoping Ullmark gets the start tonight.
  6. Don't look now but the Blues are 1 point out of a playoff spot with 3 games in hand. That draft choice is looking more and more like ours.
  7. Stafford, Foligno and Pomminstein are the last 3 I can remember off the top of my head
  8. Maybe I'm seeing things with rose colored glasses but unlike the past few years, I don't think teams are overlooking this years team. We still have some holes to fill that's been discussed ad nauseum but even when losing we've been competitive and deserving of the oppositions total effort. As an example say what you will about the Stars game last night but they were also fighting for a playoff spot at home and no one can say they breezed thru that victory. Get Casey, Pilut and Dahlin some weigth training in the offseason and add a piece or 2 and this team will be playoff ready. Our record lately may not be much better than last years team but they also aren't sneaking up on anybody this year. Our main problem has been the inconsistency of our young pups, they'll learn.
  9. Congrats Doohickie, nice job sir.
  10. They're just there to see the guy with the chicken on his head, nothing else to see here
  11. Couldn't have been last year, we got beat 5-1 in Dallas and 7-1 in Buffalo, we were atrocious in both games. We were planning on doing a family trip until we found out it was a Wednesday game. I'm retiring in September so that won't be an issue any longer I knew he came from good stock...
  12. Some terrible news about playing in Dallas the past 4 years. Outscored 16-7 there No one on the current roster has scored for us, Kane 2, Moulson 2, Gionta 2 and ROR 1 2 of the 4 were basically blowouts, zero points Met Paul at one of the games, our only highlight of the game It's time to change the outcome boys.... LETS GO BUFFALO
  13. If I'm thinking of the same goal as you are, Bogosian actually had the man along the boards where the pass came from, McCabe is actually the defender that had a case of ADD on the play. Also when he did get in on the play instead of taking the man, McCabe kept swiping at the puck with his stick and missed giving Foligno carte blanche in front of the net.
  14. Fact is all the the American sports HOF voters/agenda's/alumni have flaws. Can you imagine the football HOF not including such dignitaries as Pete Rose, Barry Bonds and Clemens?? The basketball HOF is probably the worst of the lot though. If you go strictly by numbers in baseball, several guys don't belong and several guys will never get in despite the numbers.
  15. Bonds and Clemens were the greatest hitter and pitcher of their era's, prior to any steroid abuse. Aaron, Ruth, Mays, Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Ted Williams, DiMaggio, Cobb, Griffey don't get into the HOF unanimously but a relief pitcher does and it's well deserved?? Please stop now.
  16. It could have been things weren't working out for him and that was the final straw in Burnout, from doing something for so long you just lose the love of it.
  17. TONIGHT’S GAME SABRES at CANUCKS This is the second of two meetings between the Sabres and Canucks this season. Last meeting: Buffalo defeated Vancouver 4-3 (SO) in Buffalo on Nov. 10, 2018 The Sabres are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games vs. the Canucks; 2-7-1 on the road. This is the 122nd game all-time between Buffalo and Vancouver; Buffalo has a 50-52-19 series record. The Sabres are 18-31-11 on the road against the Canucks all-time. THIS DATE IN SABRES HISTORY The Sabres are 12-4-4 all-time on January 18. Four different Sabres goaltenders (Don Edwards, Tom Barrasso, Dominik Hasek, Martin Biron) have earned a shutout on Jan. 18. It is one of only three dates on which the Sabres have recorded four shutouts; the others are Feb. 16 and Nov. 19. January 18, 1984: Tom Barrasso makes 30 saves in his first NHL shutout as the Sabres top the Los Angeles Kings 4-0. January 18, 2008: Derek Roy records his third career hat trick and Drew Stafford records his first in a 10-1 win against the Atlanta Thrashers, marking the 12th game in franchise history to feature two Sabres hat tricks. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW Tonight’s game is the final game in a three-game road trip through Western Canada for the Sabres. Buffalo is 10-3-1 against the Pacific Division this season. With a win tonight, the Sabres will have swept the Canucks in a season series for the first time since the teams resumed facing off twice a season in 2013-14. Buffalo’s last two-win series against Vancouver came in 1997-98. Johan Larsson is expected to appear in his 300th NHL game tonight. Evan Rodrigues has scored in each of Buffalo’s last two games and is seeking his first career three-game goal streak. Sam Reinhart has already set career-high totals in assists (33) and multi-point games (13) this season. The Sabres are 18-7-4 this season when he records at least one point and 28-4-6 (.816) in his career when he records at least two. DAH-LEAN ON ME Entering play Thursday, Rasmus Dahlin led rookie defensemen and tied for second among all NHL rookies with 26 points (5+21) this season. Rasmus Dahlin enters tonight’s game on a career-best, five-game point streak (1+5). He joins Bobby Orr (2x), Phil Housley and Aaron Ekblad as the only defensemen ever to record five-game point streaks before their 19th birthdays. A point tonight would make him the first 18-year-old defenseman to tally a point in six straight games. During his five-game streak, Dahlin has a plus-4 rating, and has averaged 22:10 of ice time and 3.2 shots per game, also boasting a 52.94 percent shot attempt percentage (CF%) during 5-on-5 play. With 26 points (5+21) through 47 games, Dahlin is scoring at a higher rate than he did in the Swedish Hockey League last season, when he totaled 20 points (7+13) in 41 games. Dahlin’s current point total puts him on pace for 45 points this season. It would trail only Phil Housley (57 points in 1982-83) for the most ever recorded by a defenseman before his 19th birthday. NIFTY FIFTY With his first point on Wednesday at Calgary, Jack Eichel became just the fifth player in franchise history to record at least 50 points in each of his first four NHL seasons, joining Phil Housley, Rick Martin, Gilbert Perreault and Christian Ruuttu. At his current pace, Jack Eichel would finish the season tied for the fifth-most even-strength points ever recorded by a Sabre, trailing only LaFontaine (83) and Mogilny (78) in 1992-93, and Gilbert Perreault in 1975-76 (70). Eichel would trail only LaFontaine’s franchise-record 52 even-strength assists that season and would become the first Sabre to record at least 90 points since Daniel Briere in 2006-07 (95). If the Sabres’ top scorers continue their current pace, the team would have three 75-point players for the first time since 1992-93 (Pat LaFontaine, Alexander Mogilny, Dale Hawerchuk).
  18. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs first 30 minutes is gold. Watched Unbreakable, B+, is Split worth watching and if so is Mr. Glass any good??
  19. Removed......
  20. Why does this thread close at midnight ET when it doesn't open until 12 Hanoi or Jakarta time?? Plus is there really an automated thread killer switch and how many minutes need to go by before the Topic is killed entirely??
  21. An actual good reason for this right here
  22. You've watched one too many Christopher Walken movies.
