A Fin and a Swede playing together, did you really think this was going to mix well??? Be careful the Bunker Boys will come out to get you and they won't be as easy to spot on Halloween Night.
-
500 points as a Sabre for Pominville, 1st half of period was all Flames, 2nd half was all Sabres.
-
It's not a back to back, why can't Hutton play both if that's your worry??
-
His wife had a baby which is why he missed the last game, Thompson had an assist as his replacement so he's probably getting a 2nd game
-
This is basically our Halloween Game. Soooooo we went with a colorful Calgary one and a Freddy K Sabre logo Yes I realize it's weird but just pretend My Madness is your Madness too.

And this is coming from the man who corrupted another thread and had it relabeled cold or reheated pizza

It means we are very good at home versus the Flames And we are less than good in Calgary but considering the teams we've fielded recently we have done well against the Flames. While I have to admit to having the worst luck with a Fantasy Team ever with this one, I have finally removed myself from the winless category with a victory that was cemented when Gronkowski didn't score enough points yesterday to overtake me. WooooooHoooooooo. No I haven't been tanking, 1/2 my initial squad is on IR. I almost feel bad for whoever lost to me because they most likely had the worst week of the season this weekend.

VS At: KeyBank Center Television: MSG Radio: WGR 550am The Buffalo Sabres will attempt to keep their 4 game point streak going against the Calgary Flames. The Flames are led by Johnny Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm, Monahan and Dman Giordano. This will be the 3rd game in 4 days for the Flames having played Washington, Toronto last night and the Sabres tonight. Mike Smith was their winning GK against Toronto so it wouldn’t be surprising to see David Rittich in goal for them tonight. He having a 2-1 record with a 2.37 GAA and a .933 Save percentage so that isn’t necessarily a good thing for the Home team. Mike Smith has been a shell of his last years self so far this season, while Rittich has been their Ullmark playing very well in a backup role and having played 2 games in relief of Smith. The 5 leading scorers for the Sabres are in order, Skinner, Eichel, Pominville, Okposo and J.McCabe. Yes that Jake McCabe!!! Who woulda thunk it. ESPN Preview: http://www.espn.com/nhl/preview/_/gameId/401044486 Game Preview from Buffalo Digital Press Box: TONIGHT’S GAME FLAMES at SABRES § This is the first of two meetings between the Sabres and Flames this season. § Last meeting: Calgary defeated Buffalo 5-1 in Buffalo on March 7 § Next meeting: Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019 in Calgary § The Sabres are 4-4-2 in their last 10 games vs. the Flames; 8-1-1 at home. § This is the 108th game all-time between Buffalo and Calgary/Atlanta; Buffalo has a 52-37-18 series record. § The Sabres are 33-14-6 at home against the Flames all-time. THIS DAY IN SABRES HISTORY § The Sabres are 10-8-5 all-time on October 30. § October 30, 1971: Rookie forward Rick Martin picks up his first career hat trick, including two goals in a span of 1:23, as the Canucks and Sabres play to a 4-4 tie in Vancouver. § October 30, 1977: Ric Seiling scores his first Sabres goal in a 4-0 win at Montreal. § October 30, 2015: Linus Ullmark earns his first NHL win against the Philadelphia Flyers, becoming the youngest goalie (22 years, 92 days) to earn a win for the Sabres since Mika Noronen (21 years, 111 days) did so on Oct. 5, 2000 vs. Chicago. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW § The Sabres have scored at least four goals in each of their last four games. If they score four tonight, it would be the first time the team has done so in five straight games in the same season since Feb. 20 to March 2, 2007. § With a 3-0-1 record in their last four games, the Sabres are seeking their first five-game point streak since they had points in nine straight (7-0-2) from March 10 to 27, 2012. § The Flames are seeking consecutive wins in Buffalo for the first time since Jan. 27 and Dec. 8, 1991. Since those games, the Sabres are 13-2-2 at home against the Flames. The home team has won 18 of the last 22 games between these teams dating back to the 1999-00 season. § A point tonight would give the Sabres their best points percentage in a month with at least five games since March 2016. With a win, it would be the team’s best such month since April 2013. § Rasmus Ristolainen has totaled seven points (4+3) in six games against Calgary since the beginning of the 2015-16 season. § Kyle Okposo has recorded eight points (2+6) in his last eight games against the Flames. § Jack Eichel has scored in each of his last two meetings with the Flames. The streak ranks as his longest since his career-best seven-game streak from March 16 to 27, 2017. § Skinner entered play Monday tied for third in the league with 10 points (5+5) in the 12 days since the beginning of his current streak. § All of Skinner’s goals have come at even strength this season, and his six even-strength tallies tied him for sixth in the NHL entering play Monday. § In 12 career games against the Flames, Skinner has recorded 11 points (4+7), including nine points (3+6) in his last seven. WHO’S HOT? § Kyle Okposo has points in each of his last three games (3+1) and is seeking his first four-game point streak since Nov. 10 to 17, 2017. He also enters the game on his first three-game goal streak since January 2014 and is looking to extend it to four games for the first time since his career-best five-game streak from March 24 to 31, 2012. § Jason Pominville enters tonight’s game on a four-game point streak, during which he has totaled eight points (4+4) and averaged 17:17 of ice time per game. A point tonight would give him points in five straight contests for the first time since Feb. 4 to 12, 2017. § Jake McCabe has recorded seven points (1+6) in his last six games. § Jack Eichel has recorded 11 points (3+8) in his last 10 games. Housley played with Flames assistant general manager Craig Conroywhile in Calgary. § Sabres assistant coach Steve Smith spent one season (1997-98) as an assistant coach for the Flames before joining their roster for the next three seasons (1998-2001), serving as the team’s captain during the 1999-00 season. In 102 games, Smith scored one goal and added 20 assists. Skinner Pominville Bogosian Skinner and Pominville for obvious reasons their scoring, Bogosian because ever since his 8 block shot, 5 hits and a roughing and fighting penalty at the end of their last loss the Sabres haven't lost a regulation game since. He gave them the FYou attitude to never give up which they've carried on.
-
On the plus side he is a +1 in +/-, he leads the team in blocked shots per game and he's 2nd on the team in Hits.
-
Oooooh yes, I just love the white creme filled ones!! Yes I know he's one of the most beloved of all Sabres, great fighter yes, great inspirational guy yes, great hockey player........ Please
-
Yes the most over rated player in Buffalo Sabres history
-
The league is better with Auston Matthews in it and I really do like that he's an USA kid but my darker side is having a hard time not celebrating this strictly for Leafs hate

Notes after game: If you said before the season we'd be 6-4-1 after 11 games..... I would have jumped all over it Risto isn't a domineering Dman, having said that he's not 1/2 as bad as some want to picture him Bogo's been a stabilizing force on the backend Scandella has been relegated to our 5th or 6th best Dman depending on where you put Nelson, also depending on where we are at the trade deadline, he's the most likely to go Dahlin isn't there yet but be patient, it's coming I notice a lack of keep Skinner off Jack's line comments lately, I love his style, his attitude, his shot, his hustle, if he keeps this up, sign the man Our 4th line has gone from OMG get them off the ice ASAP to I don't think any line on the opposing team likes playing against them, they make things miserable Casey's getting better and he's not a wuss out there. Speaking of non wuss, Jack is starting to throw his weight around out there also. Nice PP needs work but there's too much talent out there to struggle forever The PK is going to be a team strength by the end of the year. They're looking better and better Even on their bad days the GK are much better than last year.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW With a 6-4-0 record through 10 games, the Sabres are off to their best start to a season since they matched that record through the first 10 games of the 2011-12 season. A win tonight would give the Sabres their first four-game winning streak since Dec. 9 to 15, 2014. Buffalo last won four straight games in regulation when the team won five in a row from March 19 to 27, 2012. With a win tonight, the Sabres would guarantee the team’s best points percentage in a month with at least five games since March 2016. Buffalo’s 10 games are the longest the team has gone without an overtime game to start the season since 2011-12 (12 games). The Sabres have had each of their last 23 games settled in regulation, dating back to March 15 vs. Toronto. It’s the team’s longest stretch of games that were not tied after 60 minutes since they played 30 in a row from Nov. 10, 1979 to Jan. 16, 1980. The team’s record for consecutive games that were not tied after regulation is 33 games from Nov. 17, 1972 to Feb. 1, 1973. VS Television: MSG Radio: WGR 550 am At: KeyBank Center ESPN Game Preview: http://www.espn.com/nhl/preview/_/gameId/401044454 The surprising Montreal Habs are 5-1-2 to start the season and play the Sabres who are coming off a 2 game road winning streak and a successful west coast road trip winning 3 of 5. Antti Niemi is the choice in goal for the Habs which should be an advantage for the Sabres with Carey Price not playing. Having said that Niemi is a Stanley Cup winning goalie and is 2-0 so far this year although with less than a 90 save percentage. Tatar, Domi, Petry, Byron and Drouin lead the Habs in scoring and they should be a good test for Buffalo. Buffalo Sabres information: From Buffalo Sabres Pressbox This is the first of four meetings between the Sabres and Canadiens this season. Last meeting: Montreal defeated Buffalo 3-0 in Buffalo on March 23 Next meeting: Thursday, Nov. 8 in Montreal The Sabres are 2-5-3 in their last 10 games vs. the Canadiens; 3-4-3 at home This is the 280th game all-time between Buffalo and Montreal; Buffalo has a 126-112-41 series record. The Sabres are 72-40-27 at home against the Canadiens all-time. THIS DAY IN SABRES HISTORY The Sabres are 8-11-3 all-time on October 25. October 25, 1991: The Sabres acquire Pat LaFontaine, Randy Wood and Randy Hillier from the Islanders in exchange for Pierre Turgeon, Uwe Krupp, Dave McLlwain and Benoit Hogue. October 25, 1991: The Sabres get 31 saves from Clint Malarchuk as they top the Sharks 3-1 in the first-ever game between the teams, earning the 800th win in franchise history. October 25, 2013: Rasmus Ristolainen scores a goal, recording his first NHL point in a 3-1 victory at Florida. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW A win or overtime loss tonight would give the Sabres their best start through 10 games since they began the 2011-12 season with a 6-4-0 record. Patrik Berglund has six points (4+2) in his last five games against the Canadiens. Zach Bogosian has recorded a point in each of his last two games (1+1) and is seeking his first three-game point streak since March 29 to April 2, 2016 (1+3). Carter Hutton has appeared in four games against Montreal, posting a 1-0-2 record with a .949 save percentage and a 1.37 goals-against average. Linus Ullmark stopped 21 of 22 shots (.954) in his only previous meeting with the Canadiens. 60 MINUTES The Sabres are one of four teams that haven’t played an overtime game yet this season (Dallas, Nashville, New Jersey). Buffalo’s nine games are the longest the team has gone without an overtime game to start the season since 2011-12 (12 games). The Sabres have had each of their last 22 games settled in regulation, dating back to March 15 vs. Toronto. It’s the team’s longest stretch without an overtime game since Buffalo went 22 games without one from Dec. 31, 1989 to Feb. 18, 1990. If tonight’s game is decided in regulation, it will be the team’s longest stretch of games that were not tied after 60 minutes since they played 30 in a row from Nov. 10, 1979 to Jan. 16, 1980. The team’s record for consecutive games that were not tied after regulation is 33 games from Nov. 17, 1972 to Feb. 1, 1973. A FRESH FACE On Oct. 4 vs. Boston, Rasmus Dahlin (18 years, 175 days) became the second-youngest player ever to appear in a game with the Sabres, behind only fellow No. 1 pick Pierre Turgeon (18 years, 41 days on Oct. 8, 1987 vs. Minnesota). Dahlin skated 22:37 in his debut, marking the highest ice time recorded by a Sabres player making his NHL debut and the 21st-highest ice time by any NHL player in his first game since the league began tracking ice time in the 1997-98 season. With his assist on Oct. 11 vs. Colorado, Dahlin became the second-youngest player (18 years, 175 days) in franchise history to record a point, behind only Turgeon (18 years, 44 days on Oct. 11, 1987 vs. Washington). Dahlin scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 13 at Arizona, becoming the second-youngest player (18 years, 183 days) in franchise history to score, behind only Turgeon (Oct. 21, 1987 vs. Hartford). He was the youngest defenseman in 23 years to score an NHL goal. His goal came exactly 34 years after Doug Bodger (18 years, 117 days) became the youngest defenseman in the expansion era (since 1967-68) to score his first NHL goal (Oct. 13, 1984). With the goal, he also became the third-youngest defenseman in NHL history to record a game-winner, trailing only Craig Wolanin of the New Jersey Devils (12/9/85 at Minnesota) and Red Garrett of the New York Rangers (12/25/42 at Detroit). SABRES AMONG LEAGUE-LEADERS (Sabres’ league rankings before 10/24 games) Bogosian:3.8 BkS/GP (T-2nd) Eichel: 38 S (T-6th) Hutton: 209 SV (T-4th) Ristolainen: 27 hits (T-9th), 25:20 TOI/GP (10th) Sheary: 3 PPG (T-6th) Skinner: 5 ESG (T-8th), plus-8 (T-9th) Ullmark: .982 SV% (2nd), 0.50 GAA (2nd), 1 SO (T-2nd) Remember GDT rules No acne jokes No telling Mr. Flagg to STF..... you know the rest Logo hate was grandfathered into the rules so that's ok Please look for previous made GDT's before posting yours Must Win LETS GO BUFFALO

Very upbeat GDT. It's nice to see. Does Phil finally have his lines right?? I was curious about Pominville on Jack's wing and some here did not like the Skinner addition but that line is just plain clicking right now. I also think Sobotka adds some chemistry to the Sheary-Reinhart line. Casey's confidence is rising game after game, he's also more physical than I thought he'd be. For all the grief Larsson-Girgs and Berglund receive they improve the PK by leaps and bounds and they make whatever line they're playing against miserable. Is Bogosian the most popular player on the team?? The team just seems to rally around this guy. Check the bench when he's in a fight, the young guys all have this wide eyed wonderment with him, it's like they know he's got their back. He's actually been playing pretty well with Scandella also. Plus did Phil fall into a great pairing of Dahlin and Nelson. It seems that Dahlin feels like he's the man on that pairing and he's been more aggressive in his play and is starting to take over. His skill level is off the charts for a Dman. Skinner has some attitude to go with his play, is he our Marchand in the making?? Plus our goal keeping is leaps and bounds better than last year. It's nice to be so positive about this team for a change. Also this is for Pi, Skinner is +8 in +/- this year, Bogosian is 2nd on the team with +3, I can't even remember when we've had 2 guys on the positive side of these things. One last thing to A.Amerk, you may be 1-0 but I'm now 4 and 1 baby.
