I would say that it is normal for a team's average per game. To me these games where tight defensive affairs that where 1-0 till late in the third and a team had to press in order to try and get a tying goal to send it to overtime. The press led to a few 2 on 1's the other way, an empty net goal and you get a 3.6 goals per game for a team. Not fun hockey. Also the average goals per game I think should be around 5 for both teams to be fun hockey.

Ullmark is a fisherman. Thinks he needs a boat to do some great fishing around these parts (see article translated by MODO in Ullmark thread). You constantly prove otherwise.

So 3.6 goals a game is now a high scoring affair?

Some one posted a great article about the 05-06 season and our perception that calling all the clutch/grab/mugging penalties resulted in more goal scoring. The moral of the story IMO was that 5x5 scoring remained constant, but due to the increase in penalties per game scoring was up. So to your point. If you want to win, you have to score on the power play. There is just to much parity and good defensive hockey played league wide to win constantly 5x5.
