I've watched three games. My eyeball analysis is that they have 1 1/2 forward lines and 1 decent defense pairing. If Crosby/Malkin/Stay Puff don't bring it, they have no chance of winning. Their PP has been really bad, pass happy and always looking for the perfect play. Malkin has become more vocal at his displeasure of the teams successes and it seemed to have motivated the team for a win against Minnesota. But how long and how far will Malkin calling the teams play out last with wins and loses is anyone's guess. They are by default my second team, with Directv I get Root Sports Pittsburgh with the Penns and MSG plus with the Sabres as my home teams and I get all the games. Ask me again in another month I will give you a lot more. Right now is the beginning of my hockey watching season. My quick overall assumption, take the 2014-15 Sabres and add Crosby/Malkin/ Muffin Man (hotdog boy? Inky had a great name for him). Coaching must be also on the same level. They have basically traded away every decent prospect and first round pick for a decade for a win now player. The Penn's are what happens when your GM is always under the assumption a proven NHL commodity is worth a prospect /draft pick no matter the win/loss ratio.

Things that have worked to make the game more fun have been to simplify the game. The 2 line pass. The NHL just did a away with it. How much more enjoyable did just doing that make hockey? Offside. Just do a way with it. Less stoppage and no reviews. Open the game up.

I don't blame him for all of it. He only has gut feeling and ex-player perspective between the benches. The Stars game is probably the first game I've seen where he has stats, real live up to the moment stats and they are on a piece of paper. How much color and review of plays can he have?

It would be cool if a coach called the challenge then the ref gave an ultimatum. Let the goal stand or go down 2 men because the offside was caused by an interference and should be a penalty.

End of the 1st. Not as bad as it could have been, but not as good as I was hoping for. The Stars are fast.

Then why was he out there during the 3 on 3? And what was he thinking? Coco (spell uncorrector likes Cola) is a good pairing with Franson. They are almost complete opposites and play off of each others strengths. If they where a few years younger they could possible the worst pairing in the league, but age and experience are working well for them.

Have to ask. Is your avatar Ultra Man? I think that is his name, it's been 40 years since I watched the show. I just started paying attention to and learning fancy stats for hockey. Only to confirm or disprove my perceived notions while watching the game. I've also begun understanding a players $ value comparing fancy stats vs. payroll for players.
