Well sure, Pysyk has kind of mastered that. He won't take the next step as a player until he asserts himself and creates with the puck. I've been struggling to keep up here as of late, but I'll be there tonight. Sabres are 0-3-1 when I attend, so I'll prematurely accept blame.

I've been underwhelmed by Kane so far, but his usage hasn't been optimized. My take based on his games as a Sabre so far are that he doesn't have the hockey brainthinkins to be a top line winger. I think he'll be a 1st/2nd line tweener when/if he hits his stride.

People have been posting this, and "Moulson finally pots one tonight." for months. He might be having sex with his wife and smoking all the pot, but he is not going to score.

It's been between 8-20 degrees at night and only gets above 32 from noon to 4 where I am (Elmira). The smaller ponds on top of the hills have been frozen since monday.

I agree. There's no real standard being set by the vets. Why would the young guys follow their example when there aren't any results?

He's been looking good on Eichel's wing so far (minus last night). He played with Ennis and (non-corpse) Moulson last year and did a good job there. I think he's a great compliment to skill players and isn't great at creating his own offense.

Neat. Glad to know we can break the mold every now and again.

Shia is an interesting character. Disney child star to blockbuster lead. At some point he must've watched Breaking Bad or something and learned about cinematography because he started publicly apoligizing for Michael Bay's disasters. Now I only ever see him doing clever/funny stuff like this. I like it.

I think Jack will be better than average defensively. He may even be good. But he needs to play like ROR for that to happen. In the 1st period last night he picked off a pass and got a good chance against Lu. He got hooked, and instead of hounding after the puck behind the net (which was quite close to him), he turned away and whined to the ref.

Eh. ROR hasn't had the chance to deliver what Drury delivered. Success in the playoffs is important, but making the playoffs is a team achievement. It's like saying Ovi isn't the best winger in the game because he doesn't have a cup. (I know, I know, Patrick Kane. I still think Ovi is better.)

This place is a bit off the rails tonight. Maybe I'm not as mad because I hit the pond for the first time this year. Utter perfection. His positioning in the D-zone was brutal. And people used to call Myers woodenlegs... -Jonathan Huberdeau is sick. The set up for Jagr was a great play: burned Samson, drew the coverage, and hit oldie right in the sweet spot. The deke on the 4th goal was McDavid-esque. -Kane with another mixed bag of a game. He played very hard, got a few bad angle shots on net, and made one or two terrible blind backhand passes. Spinning and passing it to the other team instead of hitting a wide open #47 on the point really hurt to watch. -Speaking of Bogosian, his offensive game is not very good. I think he's actually got some ability, but Bylsma's system is so bad at involving our D-men in 5-on-5 play. -Seeing McCabe's rookie struggles reminds me how hard defense is. I feel for the kid, and still think he'll be a good one. Tough game. -Eichel had a nice 1st period then didn't do much after that. Samson was just OK. -Moulson needs to be on Eichel's wing or in the press box.

I watched this game a couple years ago while near-blackout. It'll be nice to watch it somewhat coherent. Korab was a monster.

He thought he was going to shoot. That's why he didn't play the body.

I updated my Asus laptop to windows 10 and it actually works significantly better than 7 did. Liking it.

Finally finding them with more regularity? Whattaya want from me. Eichel's playing very well right now.

If you add in the phantom points: 9 assists in his first 33 games. 6 assists in his last 5. Let's add in all the "Evander Kane blasted a wide open goal into the not goal" assists, too. 15 assists in his first 33 games.

Half of Eichel's assists this season have come in the last 5 games. I'm happy he's finally finding his teammates, but I'm really concerned that Bylsma is going to lean on him too hard again. Eichel spent the first part of the second period in the locker room and still finished the game with over 20 minutes.

Reinhart and Eichel are both rookies and prone to inconsistency so far. Ennis has been terribad this season, Kane's been average at best, Girgensons is looking to finally be snapping out of his long slump (hopefully), Larsson has been MIA on the score sheet, and Moulson/Gionta are pretty ineffective. The excuse has been learning the system/gelling, but when so many players under-perform you gotta look at the coach.
