I'd also sit franson and roll with Weber and McCabe on the third pairing. I'm hopeful that Pysyk and Bogosian can bring out the best in one another. Well, maybe not hopeful, but curious at the possibility.

Dude is a bit of a lout, and has pretty much stayed out of the public eye in recent years. What more do you want from the guy?
-
I wish it was just Gionta competing against his own scores. Maybe bring back Matt Ellis, too.
-
I wish you were actually like Fox Mulder, instead of just pretending to be.

About you making unsubstantiated claims that there's the shadowy hand of the mods behind a "hivemind." And that you're somehow fighting the power. I don't think so. And what say you to my earlier question about winning cups helping Pegula make money?
-
I'd have Kane O'Reilly Reinhart Girgensons Eichel McGinn Foligno Larsson Gionta But I don't hate Bylsma's lines... for once.
-
It'll take you about 45 seconds, and the entire story is basically that he said "We love Leaf fans." But reading the article will lend important context, i.e. that it really is just an innocuous puff piece. Dude. Get over yourself.

Is Prust better than Schaller at this point? I haven't seen any of him this year. Nothing worth remembering, anyways.

What makes you think it's not about the cups? Winning cups would be the best possible thing for the Sabres' bottom line. As to this place being a chatroom for a dozen people or so... Oh please. There's somewhere around 40 regulars, and there's almost always ~70 guests along for the ride as well. PTR, if you're not stimulated by the discussion here, nobody's holding you down and forcing you to read it. Sounds like you DO know.

I don't believe that Pegula has any goals other than winning a cup. The team is still bad and his long term planning (tank FTL and eventually hopefully FTW) hasn't yet paid off. Even if Pegula only cared about the bottom line, winning a cup is still the best way to make truckloads of money from his investment. It does speak to a certain tone-deafness to have a Sabres rep saying "We love Leaf fans." In fact, our marketing in general has been pretty tone deaf from #blueprint to the twitter feed.
-
Admit it. The guy at the bar was talking about Lindy.
-
Yup. Demolished by Ovi.
-
That's the exact kind of not-very-funny I've come to expect from the Sabres twitter.
-
Damn. 11 don't around.

This is purely semantics, but for me physical =/= heavy.
-
PA, I love you, but this is a non-story. None of what you got in this thread was "that old spooky PA." Except for Liger... don't know what that was. Also the conservative Freeman quote was pretty cute.

ROR absolutely plays a heavy game. He's always moving his feet to get closer to opponents so he can check the puck away. He's always putting his body exactly in their path and forcing them to go through him. Just because he has elite defensive skills and stick checks the puck away to minimize the contact he actually has to make doesn't make his game any less heavy. Maybe that's not what you meant by heavy, but that's how I see it. I'm with Randall on Jack. He's not there yet.
-
# of hits doesn't tell the whole story. ROR plays a much heavier game than Jack despite not putting people through the boards. Jack's been getting better, but I still see him reaching instead of moving his feet to engage.

The skill of fighting. John Scott is taking the job of a Paros/Colton Orr type, not a Brian Flynn. If the league wanted to change the rules, they can do that. But like D4rk said, fighting is a part of the NHL and so is John Scott.

Interesting. Thanks for those numbers, pi. I wonder what that extra 5 feet would do.

In the last olympics, having the wider ice surface just made it easier for defenders to clear pucks out of the zone. Larger ice surfaces would decrease scoring even more, if anything.

OFF TOPIC Fall/Winter 2015-2016 TV and Movies
qwksndmonster replied to Thwomp!'s topic in The Aud Club
The first two seasons of Lost are very good TV, but the show does not follow through on its mission statement. It starts with very strong sci-fi mystery elements, which are mostly dropped in favor of being "about the characters" like BBC's Sherlock. It was pretty clear that they had no plan. I would give it a pass. -
With less scoring in general, how could it not be true?
-
I you're overstating this a bit. Jack is definitely still not being quite as physical as he could be, but he's still playing smart hockey. He hasn't completely dumbed his game down to the NHL level quite yet. He also hasn't really been playing with anybody that's even close to his level of hockey smarts except Reinhart for a few short bursts.
