We were talking about Fun recently. This is the best (and my favorite) Fun song. (starts at :50) My mom and sister were huge Fun fans before they got super big. We saw them open for Janelle Monae shortly before this album came out. I remember listening to this song and expecting the whole album to be this good. I was so disappointed.

I don't think he's trying to blend in, I think he's putting everything on himself and getting discouraged from that and tired from skating 18 minutes every game for the first 2 months. GMTM said that he would struggle mightily after his "arrival game." Since he dominated Tampa Bay I haven't seen that Jack. -

It's weird to think of anything Pysyk does as flashy. He's a very poised guy with good passing skills, but he doesn't bring much offense and he's steady in his own zone at best. Pysyk is a nice possession player to have, but he's yet to distinguish himself as even a #4 defenseman. Gorges plays the toughest minutes and has been solid as a rock. That's so much more valuable than what Pysyk brings. -
I think that you're all being moved by the invisible hand of capitalism to buy the "legit" jersey. (I'm being moved in my own special way! That makes me better!)

Can this please not become a thing? Moulson hasn't looked better to me. -
Interesting. Are you cosplaying as that player? It's purely about aesthetics for me.

Oh! And #8 on the Kings is always a pleasure to watch. Looks like a forward on the rush, tough as nails on the back. Nice to see Risto lay the boom on him. -
I tried to enjoy the game, but I hate the NFL and their product so much. I was watching with my (Eagles fan) girlfriend, and when it was 20-20 I had the honest to god thought "Eh, I won't really care if the Bills win so it'd probably be better if the Eagles took this one." I guess I'm really not a Bills fan anymore. Myself from a year ago would be furious. Myself from 2 years ago wouldn't believe it.

For all the Eichel is soft stuff: He's been brutal in the past month or so, but a little better 2 games ago and much better last night. There was one play where he took a beating in the slot and got a hot wrister off (he probably should've kept it an extra second to let Moulson get to the net, but who can plan for slow man Matt?). -
Me too. I want to get a 70s away Risto.

Oh man, I feel so bad for Grigorenko. He got away from Roy once, and now he's back there again. In the article, Grigo said something along the lines of "I gotta know that I can't lose battles or make mistakes." How the are you supposed to play hockey if you're terrified of making mistakes?

This was brutal. Our 4th line had about a 15 second shift and then a faceoff in the O-zone. Instead of getting O'Reilly or Zemgus out there against Kopitar, HD left our 4th line out and put Weber-Franson on. I was swearing at the TV when it was happening. What the ######, Disco? That play by Kopitar to open up Weber was pretty. Truth. I bought a sixer a while back, and there's still 4 of them sitting in my mud room. Yarp. I've been trying my hand at calling hockey games lately, and these kinds of phrases are an absolute necessity. Hockey is such a cluster ###### and Rick calls the sport with such flow and grace. All he needed to do was get traded to an eastern conference team (and drunkenly smash his car into a Tim's). -Legwand was in the doghouse hard in the third. Foligno and Des were getting rotated onto other lines. -Girgensons's('s?) game is devoid of offense. Whenever he skates the puck into the zone he angles himself into the boards and it becomes a battle with the D-man. He's been doing it all year and tonight I saw him kill a 3-2. -Eichel skating better than last game. Nice touch on the phantom assist. Starting to play with a bit more physical confidence. -Gionta was brutal in 3-on-3. -Kane with another quiet game. I have no idea how he didn't score on point blank Eichel feed. When it happened I screamed "MY SISTER WOULD'VE SCORED THAT!" (but I actually respect my sister's finishing ability) -Ryan O'Reilly is a ###### beast. -
First Bills game I watched in weeks. Football just pisses me off. Horribly reffed game on both sides, pretty pathetic offense from both sides, weeeeee.

Right, innocent old you would never find an underhanded way to construe Risto's hat trick. -
He doesn't even emote when he scores, he just turns around to celebrate with his teammates. His face looks business-like, perhaps even a little relieved.
-
Good. They didn't deserve that top 3 pick.

Thank you for mentioning that play behind the net. WTF was Jack doing? (other than playing D on Kane...) Those guys still don't seem to gel. I thought Eichel looked better (but not quite good) and Kane was very quiet. Rooting against Risto? Focusing on +/- when two of his goals were on the PP? Weak. Sauce. Risto played a good game in the D zone last night. Woah, me and GoDD both used "weak sauce" at the same exact time. How was it a theory? You flat out admitted that you wanted the other team to score so Risto looked worse. -

Haven't read the thread yet. -Weber was a disaster. Why does HD think that Weber - Franson can work as a pairing? Both of those guys need a partner who can actually skate. What's even worse, Bylsma put them out there together on the PK in the 1st period. Nice hit on Zemgus, Weber. -Franson is also terrible. Even his offense, which is supposed to be the one thing he's good at, is so hit and miss. When he's on the PP and has extra space it works most of the time, but he really doesn't have the vision or shot to produce consistently. Watching him try to play 5 on 5 is brutal. -Eichel looked more engaged than he has in a couple weeks, but still not good. So close on that no look pass where Kane fell over. Which brings me to: -Rob Ray. He is terrible. This is said a lot, so I want to articulate why he's as bad as he is. On that play (the Eichel Kane 2 on 1), Rob went into a tirade about how Jack has to have confidence and take the shot there. Rob was a 4th liner, and he sees the game like a 4th liner. The simple play is usually the right one for somebody as talentless as Rob Ray, but for Jack Eichel, passing it to Evander Kane in the slot is usually the right play, and certainly seemed like it there. If Kane doesn't fall over/get tripped up there that's a goal 9/10 times. Rob Ray's analysis generally tends to be that the players need to simplify their games, no matter what actually occurs on the ice. This is compounded by his voice for analysis, which isn't good. He'll usually non specifically state what happened "You gotta stay on your man", "They gotta be more aggressive" and then restate it again to end the sentence. And he actually said that Gorges did a "good job" getting an interference penalty. Yikes. -Rough night for Johnson. That last one in particular was brutal (and Rob Ray saying that's the last thing you want 4 times in a row was even worse). -Our team is still not very good in the defensive zone. -
Rapid demise imminent! Repent!

Policing doesn't mean attack somebody. It means informing them that you didn't like what they said and why. It's not from nothing that we have a friendly, informative atmosphere here.
-
Is that so?
-
I disagree. Our self policing is one of the things that makes this board as good as it is. Ignore button helps, too.
-
We're just in a funk! Dumb luck dictates that someone (Jack Jack, Ennis, Bogosian, Larsson, Girgensons) wakes up and we become a 2 line team again. I predict 1.5 weeks until many on the board are themselves predicting playoffs. ...again
