  1. Correction noted. And how ironic is it the the USS The Sullivans was made a home in the one region of the nation that prefaces all of their points of interest with “the”? She was destined to finish out her time in Buffalo.
  2. There really is no cost effective solution for a ship who has exceeded her service life by a significant amount, and doesn’t have a deep pocketed source of funds to make her right. She’s not a Navy vessel any longer so the Dept of the Navy isn’t going to pay to have her fixed, and Buffalo Naval Park budget surely can’t stand the cost of transport, dry dock, repair, and transport back. Shes a great story, and an awesome piece of history. But she’s way past her service lifespan. And she just doesn’t generate the interest to justify some entity transporting and fixing her properly.
  3. 1. Wow would that be expensive. 2. Probably would have significant environmental impact. Its an 80 yr old ship that needs substantial repair. The name has been passed on to another active duty ship. It doesn’t make sense to put that much investment into a limited use museum that requires significant upkeep and maintenance. She’s served well and honorably. Her time has come.
  4. I don’t think they have the real estate to fit it
  5. I doubt it, but I love that Tage’s performance this season makes the conversation possible.
  6. I have said before, we don’t have any goalies until we actually have goalies. You gotta sign a legit NHL starter. We can’t afford to gamble on one or both of Portillo and Levi to sign and develop to their ceilings.
  7. Comfortable? No. Cautiously optimistic? Yea. Still depends on the unknowns of continued player development, sustainability of Thompsons amazing season, a goalie, and Quinn and maybe Peterka sliding in successfully.
  8. First Roc game I watched this season. My take was, individuals playing as individuals, and little discipline especially on the powerplay. Peterka reminded me of Afinogenov, and not in the good way.
  9. Was a good time. Wish I felt better about the guys in Roc after this one though. Ugh.
  10. I think Cozens with Okposo will be very good for Cozens.
  11. Btw, it is USS Sullivans. Plural.
  12. I’ll add, the difference between Toronto and StL is, Toronto does not get sticks and bodies in the way to anywhere near the same extent StL did last night. When I think of where we lack in terms of team defense, it’s not scheme or effort or backcheck, it’s our lack of “interference “ like StL showed last night. They never gave our forwards breathing room.
  13. Alot of those missed nets were due to sticks and legs in the way. StL did a fantastic job of clogging shooting lanes and rushing the shooter, something our team hasn’t quite developed yet.
  14. My point regarding Tuch wasn’t really about size or speed. It was about getting another playoff hardened vet or two with plenty of cred and tread left. Another guy who can demonstrate to the kids what it takes to get past teams like StL.
  15. What I saw was a StL team that hampered our opportunities by getting sticks and bodies in the way, played efficient, opportunistic hockey and buried the chances they had. Our team is built well to compete with them, but they used guile and experience to counter our speed. I keep seeing references to how big StL is. We’re built to match that now. Tage, Tuch, Power, Mule, Dahlin, Okie, Girgs. We aren’t getting pushed off the puck like we used to. StL didn’t physically beat us. They beat us with grizzled vet experience and determination. We need another Tuch or two to really show these kids the next step. We’re close.
  16. Sea craft has been given a female gender as tradition. I seem to recall reading somewhere that she was sold in lieu of being scrapped.
  17. I’m not sure I like Krebs and Cozens together. They don’t seem to be meshing. StL is putting on a clinic along the wall. Sabres better success has been away from the wall. Gotta bury those chances.
  18. Man, StL sure can be smothering at times… Sabres showing them no respect so far.
  19. Lol I’m not gonna challenge. Too many nights and too many glasses of whiskey have passed since then. We were early adopters!
  20. I thought it was me, you, or Duda that coined the phrase.
  21. Dis she get sold recently? My feeble memory is telling me she’s not part of the Naval Park inventory, but maybe I am misremembering something. I remember camping out in the USS Sullivans in Boy Scouts. She’s a pretty cool ship for a 12yr old. I’m guessing she’s overdue for the scrapyard these days.
