  1. Do we wait another year for a playoff push if Tage is out next season? Or Dahlin? Its time.
  2. You gotta get there first. The sooner this group experiences the playoffs, the sooner they will be ready to experience multiple rounds of playoffs. We keep waiting for a critical mass of talent to take that step. We have a critical mass now. It’s time.
  3. I dunno. A player like that seems like would elevate the team to a point where playoffs are a real conversation and not just a hopeful one. I think a net of the difference between what we give up and what we get back is likely worth the jump start he would likely provide. It’s not like the cupboard isn’t well stocked. One more point. The future is never guaranteed. Take the shot when you have it to take.
  4. Are you actually in PR? If so, jelly.
  5. You’re likely getting assets back. The difference between the two is what you give up. What’s a playoff run worth to you? What’s being competitive in a playoff series worth to you? It’s worth a net cost of 1st rd pick or so to me.
  6. Can you summarize for those without a subscription?
  7. Believe me. I have the same suspicions. But in the current market, if you’re selling and your realtor tells you we’re not accepting inspections, you go with it because you trust they know best how to get your house sold.

    Home record

    It’s Jack Eichel’s fault.
  9. Well, Kim isn’t really involved anymore…. I know. Doubtful that Peters knew that was coming.
  10. What is the mechanism to enforce it and how much is it going to cost two kids who just put everything they had into the purchase? Mostly we’re dealing with shoddy work, but some of it (insulation and plaster stuffed down drain plumbing) is simply being *****. Not sure it qualifies as taking advantage of someone, but it’s in that direction for sure.
  11. Over the last 2 years the market has been hot enough that sellers are just saying no to inspections. It’s a very buyer beware market. And its ripe for people to be taken advantage of.
  12. House flippers. My son and his fiance closed on a house that they bought from a flipper. I’ve spent the last two weekends with my son getting everything “fixed” so it is liveable. Insulation stuffed down the plumbing. Plaster and paint down the plumbing. Water lines not connected to anything. Furnace ductwork just open with no grates or flues. Shoddy carpentry. The project list is substantial but at least it is move in condition now. The housing market in October when he looked at it was hot enough that they only got one look and a home inspection was an automatic no. It’s not to the point where he should have accepted the “no”. But its been a huge surprise to them that they weren’t prepared for. Hopefully he learns from this one. In the meantime, Dad is burning the candle at both ends helping the kids. It does feel like they were taken advantage of to some extent.
  13. Disagree with what? The odds of a 2nd rd pick having an NHL career? That Lemieux is an actual NHL player? That selecting 3 NHL players in a draft is a successful outcome?
  14. I don’t need you to feel bad for me. That selection has been a 25% chance to make it historically. He made it as a legit NHL player. Every draft for every team is full of opportunities to point and laugh at who was picked and who was missed. We got 3 players with NHL careers out of that draft. Thats a success by any measure.
  15. Forget it. He’s rolling.
  16. Is this our only ROTM so far this season? Daydream: UPL plays 3 out of every 4 of the remaining games, wins enough that the Sabres make the playoffs, UPL surprises preseason prognosticators and wins Calder trophy.
  17. A team without defensemen is a gimmick. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if no D man on out all star roster squad is a feature, not a bug. Nothing to see here.
  18. You guys are smoking crack. 3 NHL players in one draft is fantastic drafting. A solid top 6 winger that easily does well as a top 3, a 30ish goal sniper, and a 4th line pest is a hell of a draft result. As for Lemieux not being a successful draft pick, he’s already beaten the odds of a 2nd rounder having an NHL career, JAG or not.
  19. Meh. Hull has been shunned for a long time.
  20. Its not a new thing as suggested upthread though. Not even close. It’s just a popular new buzzword in some circles to denigrate common human behavior perpetrated by all sides.
  21. What is it you guys are doing that they are “all behind “?
  22. Interesting. And may explain why young players fade as the season progresses. If they have to give 100% to stay competitive, what happens when they wear down and the rest of the league is just starting to ramp up? It also explains why the game really starts to change in the last 1/3 of the season.
