Funny. We have recently retired friends that constantly complain about the weather now, too. I can’t figure it out. You have every day that you are free to do what you want, and individual bad weather days annoy the ***** out of you. You complained less when working 5 days a week and bad weather days on your free days were more impactful. Some places have more consistently temperate weather. Some have lower taxes. Others have more to do. I think I live in an area with the best compromise of all those factors. I’m not inclined to complain when one of those factors gives a negative result, if the others do make up for it.

Bruce Smith often found ways to avoid preseason stuff, but he was much more passive aggressive about it.

I felt similar. I was always open to the possibility it was my hatred for the decision to tank that drove it, but he just always seemed to be a jerk. Sam….. no dislike for Sam. Mostly ambivalence. He seemed OK enough. But he was never good enough to justify losing on purpose.

You couldn’t do a relegation to the AHL. It is a developmental league. How would you have Coachella and Seattle in the NHL at the same time? And what about the rinks/ facilities of AHL teams that would relegate upwards? Capacity and quality of facilities issues. Do these AHL teams and owners have the cash flow for upgraded travel demands? Relegation is a crack pipe dream.

Sure. He can. My position since the end of our season is, he will choose to run with what is already under contract.

I think a bunch of us are going to be disappointed. I don’t see KA spending assets on a goalie for a year or two. Not a “good one” anyway. And it will annoy me.

With the huge payment to join the club, there is no way the league can go back to a system that makes it harder for new markets to be successful early. Noone would pay that fee if they can’t start off with a team that is at least competitive immediately. Besides, who did Vegas and Seattle screw by using these rules to their advantage? The teams that didn’t get in the playoffs because Vegas and Seattle were in didn’t deserve to be there anyway.

Vegas is going out and proving alot of hockey fans wrong. Alot of us criticized Vegas heavily for departing from their original roster makeup and upgrading to high priced, high skilled vets at the expense of depth and prospect pool. Well, they are on the brink of a cup parade after the management team worked a conversion from high effort castoffs to high skill vets that bought into what the high effort castoffs built. Id gladly take Vegas’ now plus Vegas’ future. The future is always unknown. I couldn’t give a ***** about Jack, or whether the ***** team created the Jack we had, or if he’s just naturally built to be an *****. But I am genuinely jealous. That team was hell bent on winning and they made it happen. As an expansion team they had every excuse to slow play things and didn’t. They started out refusing to accept losing and are on the brink of something special in half the time Buffalo has been suffering. God, I hate typing that out.

Actually, a great example of a goalie that thrived in chaos was probably ex Sabre Grant Fuhr.

Curtis Joseph. I seem to recall he thrived in high chance environments.
