I would rather judge KAs offseason success after its had an opportunity to play out. Id rather he picked up a starting goalie, a rugged stay at home D to pair with Power, and an NHL menace for the roster, but he may be more right than I if he stands pat. You are so impulsive in your want for KA to “do something “. I’m willing to see if what he does or doesn’t do work. And if it doesn’t work I’m willing to wave goodbye to him.

In your analog you’ve decided that the hiring meant that they were successful in their job, but it doesn’t work that way. The HR person isn’t deemed successful until the new Sales Manger shows a net increase in company revenues, ie. make the playoffs. KA may very well bet that the 3 headed goalie monster is the right play, and as much as I disagree with it, the correct answer won’t be know. Until everything plays out. We could trade for Helle or Saro and find out they are a lousy fit, much worse than if we depended on the 3 headed monster. You’d have already declared the offseason a win without ever considering actual performance because you put your grades in before the test began.

That’s alot of turnover in Boston. Im wondering if a good GM could move alot of that roster out in exchange for decent 3rd line players to keep it expansion team level competitive? (As in Seattle, season 1)

Well, judging an offseason in September is a but like judging a draft in July. It’s more than a bit premature, eh? Lets see where the chips fall first.

The only measuring stick for offseason success is a post season schedule. I can wait to judge.

After seeing a bunch of those ex Sabres performances in this seasons playoffs, something was waaaayyyy wrong with that team. It should have been good enough as built. (Wait… who were the goalies? Maybe there is your real wildcard)

I’m voting the longshot. Not because I am confident he will, rather because if he doesn’t show the most improvement the season will be disappointing. He simply MUST show terrific improvement. UPL. I am dead convinced KA is rolling with the 3 headed goalie monster, therefore it is absolutely critical that UPLs development is leaps and bounds over last season.

Article in the Buffalo News suggests that Alex may be getting snubbed because he has a history of not showing up for events where he is honored. I guess he’s still a bit of a recluse. Shame cuz he’s definitely worthy if Turgeon is worthy. Sneaky Pete definitely makes it the Hall of the Very Good.

KA will sign a D man in FA that the consensus will determine an upgrade over Joki (Buffalonil wiil object, of course), and that will be it. No new F’s. No new GT’s. He’s done.

Welcome back Z. You were about the only lovable guy during the drought. Really want to see you as part of the team that ends the drought. His skillset would need to be replaced if we didn’t sign him as we don’t have anyone in the system that can step in and be effective in his role, so this saves us from countless GA posts asking when KA is going to get us a defensively responsible forward with some mustard in his game. For that I am grateful.

Agreed. There is way too much energy being expended in regard to someone we know so little about performance and role-wise.

I just don’t see the Venn diagram of teams Linus wants to play for, goalies Adams wants in Buffalo, and teams Boston is willing to trade a goalie with as having any overlap.

Are there fancy stats that say there are goalies that don’t struggle with cross ice passes? It seems to me that this is typical strategery to get a goalie moving.
