We had a shot at skipping the middle step this season, but that is becoming more difficult by the game. But that’s no excuse to be a seller and root for 9th last FFS.

I can’t foresee KA bringing in another player today. The impact on our playoff chances would be so marginal at this point, that the value added wouldn’t trip KAs trigger. I think there is a small chance he makes a move for a player for one or two years down the road, but my guess is that most likely happens in the offseason. This is it, kids. Context. The discussion was in regards to making a couple of trades now to fill the holes and improve the likelihood of making the playoffs. The post you quoted was my response to someone suggesting that there was an either/or here, get in the playoffs this season OR have a decade of success. My point was, both are reasonably possible. But if we lose the next 2 games I think our goose is cooked whether we make a move or not. At this point the value in a deadline deal is dropping fast.

***** like this is why I say the future is not guaranteed. Hopefully we don’t have some timely incident derail another playoff run whenever the ***** KA is ready to try to win.

I might tolerate ESPN+ and TNT blackouts, but I’m doin month to month on a subscription. MSG is useless to me outisde of the Sabres. And frankly, if this team were to go backwards, I want an eject button on the subscription.

The defense last night was essentially in the same position the entire team had been for the previous 10ish seasons. With Dahlin out every D man needed to play at least 1 level up from where they are normally slotted. We got away with it for a game, but there is no way it was sustainable in any way.

I agree, Pimlach. This is looking like a missed opportunity to develop this team with a playoff series, and I’ve said as much multiple times. Hopefully they do rise to the occasion and overcome the injuires and inconsistencies in net and make the playoffs. But I won’t put any money on it happening. It feels like it went from 50/50 to get in to a 20/80 to get in over the course of 1 week.
