  1. This drum beat should continue everyday until he is gone... Just got a little tired of posting during off season. We should rotate every day one of posting that line.... How pathetic and he seems to have promoted Grigo's attitude too... Nuts.
  2. Just an update on the 2014 class TSN.ca posted this yesterday: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=431088 The actual list; http://www.tsn.ca/draftcentre/feature/?id=49649
  3. What are you a lawyer or a beaurocrat trying to give your self some wiggle room... may not is a phrase that we used to use to sound like we were doing something legislatively, knowing full well any good lawyer could drive a truck through it in court. Really, so you obfuscated, while still sounding like you were making a point. So what do you really think, without modifiers or qualifiers. :P
  4. Oof and traded him for more draft picks or let him go free agent and sign for another team without any return... wash... rinse and repeat... oof.
  5. God I hope so. I did see moments of brilliance with his passing, but only few, he looked lost and appeared to lack aggressiveness. I will give him the benefit of the doubt for a short time and hope he doesn't turn into another Luke Adam. The Sabres need a number 1 center.
  6. Geez the Defensive line (2nd stringers) look slow. What happened to all the new speed and playing for a position. Lack of effort is a signal. Cut...cut... cut.
  7. The new Tin Man... go to twobillsdrive.com for full game discussions.
  8. Maybe this one could be combined with the Darcy Sucks thread... http://forums.sabres...ayer-screw-ups/
  9. Stafford needs to go. For all the glimpses of talent he has shown and moments when he can be physical, his work effort sucks and his moodiness/ manic depressive attitude makes him a shadow of the effort Dupuis gives the Burgh. Please don't compare the two. Talent wise, maybe comparable, effort wise not even close. This pansy needs to go elsewhere. I would trade Stafford for Dupuis straight up any day. I would consider it a steal. P.S. My two favorite whipping boys if you haven't figured out are Stafford hopefully not to be replaced by Grigerenko and Darcy because he hasn't found a number 1 center in 5+ years or been very good at evaluating offensive players. I give him an A- for Defensive players and goaltenders but Offense he gets a solid D. Not an F only because he seems to do be doing really well recently with 2nd to 3rd line players... and there is some potential in the pipeline. But like I said that gets him a D, just not an F.
  10. You wish, agreed it is a mess, but until Stafford is gone there is no sense in cleaning it up. Because every time you do Stafford comes along and dumps more crap on the floor that we all can wallow in and create another 24 pages of posts worth. Too much fun. My only question is, who will be the next whipping boy? Grigs?
  11. Didn't read the article, but if that is the point you are trying to get across, I would agree. It used to be both sides would threaten about what they did not want but go behind closed doors and work out something nobody was perfectly happy with, but that they could live with it. Now, it is as you say, if they don't get everything, their own side threatens to run someone against them if they compromise. The true believers are in charge right now and that is not good for our country. It is okay to have beliefs, but not okay to be unable to compromise with another group that believes differently so that we can all get along. The ugly side of the rise of fundalmentalism is its lack of humanity.
  12. Well said, I happened to catch the speech and thought it was well thought out and did not specifically take issue with Zimmerman, but talked about being held in suspicion walking around where he lived and that the initial reaction that Martin may have felt being followed and confronted by Zimmerman. The rest is hearsay and we only have Zimmerman's side of the story. On the non-racial side of the story, I don't like the idea of vigilantes with guns being able to patrol a neighborhood. White or black, I think it is a recipe for disasters like this. People need to learn to respect each others boundaries and remember thou shall not kill part of the first commandments. There has been too much killing in the world lately for whatever reason and it truly sadens me.
  13. And that is initiating a conflict, by definition. He is not a police officer and he was not protecting his own property. Anyone who follows me or my son down the road is initiating a conflict. I grow immediately suspicious. I have two choices, get the heck away from that person or confront that person to find out what they are doing. But they are initiating a conflict by following me and getting out of his car. Since he is not a police officer, what he did, at the very least he should be cuppable for, especially if the result is that someone dies. See Liger arguement above: Stand your ground is an inane law that guarantees a bad outcome for one side or the other because the other person in the conflict could have claimed the same right for Zimmerman following him and initiating a conflict by getting out of his car. Me, I would have stood up to Zimmerman too and it would have ended badly for me if I did not have a gun as well or him if I did and we are not talking race here. P.S. Trained law enforcement has enough trouble handling potential problems with the ability to use deadly force, let alone some untrained person. Let me ask you this. Would you want George Zimmerman and his judgement driving around your neighborhood with a loaded gun looking for someone suspicious. Apparently, he has quite a history. I would have called the cops of him in a heart beat and demanded that he be declared a danger to the community, especially if I knew he had a gun on him.
  14. From the little I have followed of this case and watching and listening to comments about the juror afterwards, I still don't think Zimmerman is guilty of 1st degree or 2nd degree murder. I do think he was guilty of reckless endangerment for getting out of the car and initiating a conflict with a gun in his possession that ended in a death. I am not sure the jury could have found him guilty of such, based on the charges, the local law or the judges instructions about not taking race into consideration into the deliberations nor could they have found him guilty based on what I understood the evidence that was allowed to be heard. But I wonder what third degree or if reckless endangerment charges could have been brought? My problem is that Zimmerman basically was acting as a vigilante and therefore operating outside the law. What the solution to this situation is, is a difficult one. IMO, all kids should be afraid of a guy that follows them down the road. I teach my child to go get a known adult if someone they don't know tries to talk to them on the street... we have had a few reported child abductions in the area. Though related to this incident, this is not focused on the racial arguement regarding this incident. Those that say a kid walking alone should not be on his/her best behavior and alert to one's surroundings looking out for a George Zimmerman or other misguided/dangerous person in today's day and age is foolish. But Zimmerman does bear some responsibility for the death of Martin. He is not a law officer and he initiated contact with Martin. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly what happened to draw much more in the way of conclusions from this tragic incident nor am I in a place to judge Zimmerman or the facts. Other than close family members of both, imo, we should spend more time trying to figure out how to prevent such a tragedy in the first place from happening. A de-escalation of violence in our society is necessary... finding ways to effectively treat the mentally ill and provide security for those who live in fear is something that needs to be addressed. Plenty of blame for fear based hysteria is spread around, but solutions need to be forthecoming or we are going to see more of these tragedies, racially tinged and not.
  15. Additional information on 2014 prospects from the USHL: http://www.ushl.com/news.php?news_id=1875 And Here is the NHL futures list reported on the USHL website: NHL Futures List
  16. Trying to stay positive. P.S. Sneaky Pete's son Dominic is eligible and so is Daniel Audette, Donald Audette's son.
  17. I thought after reading this article about Sam Reinhart and links to lists of other prospects it is not to early to start speculating. Given the likely condition of the Buffalo Sabres next year to start following these guys and getting a sense of what might fit next year's draft. Lets hope the Sabres qualify for a high draft pick or picks depending on Miller and Vanek's situations. http://www.nhl.com/i...id=nhl:topheads http://www.nhl.com/i...s.htm?id=677279 http://www.nhl.com/i...s.htm?id=677281
  18. And be smart with your talent evaluation. I think this might be the biggest blind spot of Darcy's. So really the biggest problem with keeping players is the GM
  19. And there is the who??? Bagnall and an accompaning why? http://www.buffalonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130705/SPORTS/130709533
  20. Yup, those first round picks are looking higher and higher next year....Wooo Hoooo! Ohhh Ahhh Sabres on the suck @$# path.
  21. I like the idea of the mad Grabber to replace the mad Gerbil. He is a center, same speed and hustle and Lydman for mentoring. As Chz said, nothing out there really makes me want to shout or jump off a cliff. I hope Darcy picks up a guy who can help but not break the bank. Clowe is the only other guy out there that I like. Despite his injuries late in the season, I thought he helped the strangers when he was on the ice playing hard and showed good skills. Problem is he is going to cost apparently, not sure he is worth what he might demand and he is not a top line guy. Common Darcy, just get the Miller trade done and get some young assets in return.... P.S. Just saw Monsters University with my kids and Grabowski is up to his old tricks. Cute movie.
  22. Carter's problem was he was an ahole, brilliant, but no one could or would work with him largely because he wouldn't let them. He was too smart for his own good... darn nuclear physicist.
  23. I am coming a little late to this discussion, but is an interesting one. The problem with responsive government is not necessarily about term limits and parties, though they all play a role. More to the point it is about the courts interpretation that money is an expression of free speech and therefore cannot be regulated in political campaigns. I don't buy the argument, i think money allows the consolidation of power and coops the ability of outside groups to make meaningful change without super extraordinary efforts. Until that issue is addressed and it probably would have to be done constitutionally, there is little chance this process will change much. Technology has affect the rate at which info is presented and controlled and reacted to and a message is manipulated. Term limits might work, but there will be side effects. Entrenched staff would have a lot of potential power. I think the greatest item to make government more responsive is the line item veto which the Supreme Court struck down. I might not agree with the results all the time, but it would force the Reps to justify publicly their spending priorities enough to show what whether something actually needed to be funded. P.S. I used to work on Capitol Hill and know the game... I know, I know it is not a game. But in reality it one, a high stakes one, but it is a game of strategic politics that can be infuriating to outsiders who don't know the unwritten rules.
