  1. I rooting against everyone left in the East, maybe though I can't believe I am saying this possible Ottowa, though I still hate Neil and Alfredson. I expect Boston and Pitt to vie for the East championship. I hate the Rangers announcers, so I can't root for them. In the West I expect LA and Chi town to vie for the championship, but the Detroit goaltender is hot and Datysuk is GOD imo, though getting old. Not sure about the Sharks... lot of talent but perennial underachievers. Chicago is impressive. Really just want to see a lot of blood and lots of goals.
  2. After watching the Rags, barely squeek by the Caps except for the last game I don't see how they put up with the pound the Bruins will put on them. P.S. The series will be boring because of the defensive style of both teams, guessing the over under on goals scored per game will be 2 and I might take the under.
  3. I agree professional football and Division I college (professiona fb lite) has gotten to be very boring. I can barely go to games anymore with all the breaks between advertisements. Part of the reason I do like basketball and hockey is the difficulty of advertisements affecting the flow of the games. Soccer also has that advantage too and I do understand the ins and outs of the game, in fact I like playing, just can't watch it. Baseball while very strategic is still boring to play unless you are the pitcher, batter or catcher. It can be very interesting to watch during the playoffs when good teams are playing each other, but when teams play the game badly like the current Mets it is just painful to watch. Interesting thought, the least exciting hockey series imo was the CAPs Rangers series, neither team could score and the lack of skill depth on offense was similar to watching a mid-season Sabres game.... booring and often what seemed like a lack of cohesion on both teams. P.S. Smear the @$!@$#@ is called Rugby internationally or at the very least Australian rules football!
  4. What baseball, not my favorite sport, my son has picked to play my two least favorite sports baseball and though I like playing, can't stand the pro... basketball. I like hockey, football and race cars as my top three. I play hockey, basketball and do a lot of biking. I do agree soccer is a great agility practice sport for hockey as far as the skills go, but the game itself is one step above baseball. As one HS lacrosse coach "Roy Colsey" former Bandit Star once told me, "baseball is just one guy throwing a ball to another guy with one guy swinging at it with a stick and the 15 plus others standing around watching"... Now if Soccer had fights on the field and a penalty box then you might have something. Obviously if soccer somehow could have sticks and allow real checking and severe penalties for diving then it might speed up the game and allow more goals, maybe, but like baseball the most fun is in the stands and the food.
  5. So I watched the US v France this morning, are all these guy already in the NHL or signed by NHL clubs, and if not who should we watch out for?
  6. LOL, I had to look that one up in the land of Snow and Ice, nice reference and substitute Darcy for Ned and I think you might have something... Although, I think Doug and Bob McKenzie's "take off you hoser" would be an appropriate come back from the great White North. :)
  7. It is interesting that the Sabres continue to trickle out coaching changes between now and the draft to damper the calls for Darcy's head. I love it, even the Sabres press release guy on the official home page's name is Kevin Snow. Best name in a while that I have seen for a PR guy...
  8. So the ex-Sabres are in the playoffs... hmm wonder what their overall record is so far?
  9. Jeez the TO Bruins game is intense and violent, the Leaves are hitting anything that moves and the Bruins are responding in kind. However, TO is skating like I don't think I have ever seen them skate as a whole team... Wow.
  10. Sorry with as many hijackers on this board, I couldn't resist, but I will be polite to a slow moving hooligan sport where the best entertainment is in the stands.
  11. So my choices tonight are the Rangers v Caps on MSG or on NBC, which should I choose? Sam Rosen is horrible so I might watch NBC's version, but Al Trautwig and Brian Leetch between periods are great.
  12. Oh, I don't deny Darcy has a talent for trading assets for talent, what is most frustrating with his decision making is his inability to identify and keep the talent he currently has and get rid of the dead wood, and that is where his biggest blunders have been. I think this thread needed to be done because the argument is consistently made that TPegs wants to give Regier a chance under his ownership, though many here believe he has already had plenty of chances which the above lists attempt to quantify his record of foul ups. I disagree, letting go on D of Tallinder and Lydman who at the time the Sabres top 2 D was a big mistake and were largely replaced by an aging Regher and turnover prone Leopold. Zubrus imo was a huge mistake and could have been a great asset and still is for the Devils. You didn't watch him while he was in DC and the consistent effort he put in night in and night out.. I would take him over resigning Stafford any day. Kasian was supposed to be a talent worth holding on to, though sending him to Couver for the two players Hodgson and Sulzer was a coop. Briere and Dumont were classic Regier mistakes. It was known that Drury was gone and wasn't going anywhere but the Rangers his childhood favorite team. Grigerenko may be developed into something special, but he was sold as NHL ready... NOT! The Sabres still haven't found a number 1 or 2 center and that has been a glaring hole since Drury and Briere left and Darcy still has not solved. He tried to solve a defense that really didn't need solving to appear like he was doing something. Erhoff's signing though great was overpiced imo given the Sabres glaring hole at center. and the attempt to turn Leino into a center was misquided at best and a redicolous waste of money better used to overpay for an actually talented center or trade for a high enough draft pick to go after an NHL ready one. The Sabres are still weak up the middle on their first two lines and it has been how many years that this gaping hole has not been solved by Darcy. I think he has had enough time so such a list while rhetorical only clarifies for the uninformed the vitriole aimed at Darcy.
  13. I agree Farcy is probably better, I just like callying him Marcy Darcy, don't know why just do. Regarding Leopold v Lydman. Did you see Leo blow another play, give away at the blue line last night ending up in the back of his own net. Lydman was not flashy but tuff as nails and consistent on D. I would take him over Leo any day. The long added list and fuller explanation by Ghost was exactly what I was hoping for. I just went off the top of my head and knew it was very cursory.
  14. Isle and Guins playing a fun game tonight. Isle just gave a Sabresque goal during a bad defensive change letting the Guins have a 2-1 that Malkin buried.
  15. Sorry in my mind... Soccer is just hockey played at a much slower speed approaching the level of baseball or paint drying.
  16. Just figured it deserved a definitive list for those keeping track and Marcy sympathizers who think he deserves more time. P.S. I did do a copy and paste with edits if you are wondering.... hence the subtle changes.. :P
  17. Losing Biere and Dumont Signing Ville Leino Not signing Zubrus Losing Tallinder Drafting Kassian Signing Leopold Losing Lydman Waiting time with an aging Regher Not finding and NHL ready center to go after Grigerenko is a work in progress, yet he was deemed the next big thing and the reason the Sabres didn't trade up... Please feel free to add to this list:
  18. I think most of the Pegula vitrole is toward Regier. Mine has been since the Briere, Drury, Vanek debacle. Drury was gone, he wanted to go to NYC which is what bothers me the most, because that was easily foreseable yet Regier f'd up Briere, lost Dumont and rented a bunch of underperforming bums except Zubrus who they also let get away. Also Zach Kassian was supposed to be something... not... Why hasn't Armia been called up given the lack of scoring talent and why the Hell is Stafford still on this team???? Also, Grigerenko was tagged as being lazy as the reason he dropped.... hmmm looking more and more apt a tag, but yet Marcy is being given another chance.... Regier in my mind is a MORON and until he is gone I cannot in good conscience give TPegs the benefit of the doubt.
  19. IMO the best Sabre highlight as the Vanek pick pocket, rush up the wing and stop in front of Rask taking time to deke Tuka out out of his Toga...for a hat trick! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQGUyR5cKZo
  20. I know this rather pathetic, but still, show some hometown support and vote http://poy.tsn.ca/Vote for Foligno
  21. Still do if you count a VOIP, came with the cable package less abt $25 per month. Bout to get rid of cable, just keeping the interenet, may go back to vonage if it costs too much with the cable company.
  22. Hey, I only did appropriations work, I have no idea how to write this kind language except to say that none of the funds necessary to carry out said Act may be used to fund the salaries or benefits whose duties require them administer or adjudicate said Act.
  23. Can I be the official courtroom photography: Looking Pretty Good there Judge:
  24. Watching the Bruins Ottawa final reg game. Love the Ottawa announcers calling him Chair a. Nice nasty game. A whole series with these two would be fun.
