  1. US Women defeat Finland in Hockey 3-1 this morning. http://olympics.cbc.ca/news/article/holds-off-finland-women-hockey-opener.html
  2. Ah, much more succinct then my long winded explanation... Thanks
  3. Agree for the most part. Though I would add my $0.02, much of what we observe in science, though not provable, is God's part design. Fully understanding even evolution and the life force we "experience" in my opinion is also part of God design. Trying to understand the whole beginning and eventual end is also part of God's design of the human experience. Sticking our heads in the sand and denying that observable facts are untrue or blasphemous because we can't fully fit them into previously told stories of God's design, to me is silly and humanely flawed, probably God's sense of humor. Human reporting of God's facts historically, even in science is often flawed. Scientific method at least leaves open the possibility that an interpretation could be proved wrong... though sometimes in practice is not any better than the contradictory term fundamentalism in religion. Seeking an understanding of God's plan and structure is not a static activity and all possibilities should be considered and reconsidered, much like when one is editing prose. Sometimes you have to rewrite and editing something many times, often starting over from scrap a few times before it makes any sense.
  4. Anyone claim Omark? I think the guy has potential, yes he has skating and stick handling and a bit of the dreaded Max disease, but he has shown a few moments where he worked in the corners... too few and showed some toughness. He is still relatively young and maybe learning his lesson the hard way. Nothing like a little east coast AHL to toughen him up. I say keep him there for a year or two if he clears and see what happens. Unless the Sabres run out of room... kinda doubt it, though once the 2015 draft is complete he will need to be ready to jump up or go back to Europe.
  5. Trade tracker on TSN, latest: trade tracker Nuts tried to cut and paste, don't feel like messing with the html this morning. click on the above link.
  6. Ah Duh, we on this board have been saying that since Drury left and the Tin Man was obviously cephalically compromised. Just wondering why no deals before Olympic hiatus... not good enough offers, what does that mean, teams are looking for a fire sale and not offering enough?
  7. Yes, except keep Ott, need someone to keep the young'un hustling. I think Ott is going to make a great coach. Any word??? Or are we going to have to wait till tomorrow. :(
  8. To be vested... got it... and to avoid the grammar queens. Anyone want to go ride bikes... Sorry just my ADD.
  9. So I didn't go back and read the whole thread, but it is interesting that because the Sabres forwards cannot score, it looks like Nolan has them practicing getting on offense (for the future). Problem is, with few exceptions, they can't play D either (the Sabres forwards). But at least it is forcing forwards to play the full 90 feet and not be lazy. I like the long term plan of this concept and also the short term tank results. When the team drafts and obtains forwards that can play 90 feet and score with the talent on D, this is going to be a fun team to watch. Too bad Miller was left hung out to dry (sarcasm). Hasek used to make those saves on SID and Malkin, which is why many say Miller is an above average goalie, but not a great one. Despite what people say I like McBain, and as much as I like Weber and his attitude... I agree with others, dude just can't skate... he is too slow. I say keep McBain as a 7th, he needs to be more consistent, but he can skate.
  10. Finally something to laugh about during this season. What a great thread. Here is my addition:
  11. Dreger has this posted on TSN's website: Caljahan "He wants a lot of money. It's been widely reported that Callahan is looking for a seven-year term around $6 million per year. That is not accurate. I'm told that it is more than $6.5 million but less than $7 million per year on a seven-year term. Whether it's $6 million per year or, as we know now, closer to $7 million, that's a lot of money; too much for the Rangers. There's not a lot of wiggle room in this negotiation and that's why Glen Sather is considering and working towards moving his captain." To read more click on the above link.
  12. Trade him now while he is on a hot streak. He has value now, trade... trade... trade... trade... trade. Pulease!
  13. So the question becomes can the Sabres get another number 1 pick out of anyone in this group for either another top 4 this year or a pick next year. I say package Stafford and Molson together to a team struggling to score... say to FLA probably not, but NJ for one last push for a #1 and #2 next year? It is still hard for me to guage what might get the Sabres more decent No 1 picks this year or next.
  14. Was worried a little when Staphyl scored, and when it looked for a minute like the tying goal might be real. But that ref sucked and Tank Nation remained in full swing. I wanted to get upset at the ref, but had to laugh. First time I didn't go ballistic at the tv by such an obvious bad call. Tank Nation remains intact. Sorry Liger, if it is worth anything, there are a lot of desperate women out there and the ratio is in your favor especially if you are on the East Coast. When you are over this one, get that pole ready and get back out there fishing.
  15. Sabres lose 3-6, At least it won't be as boring as the Superbowl...
  16. Boring Game and as said on another stream, even many of the commercials were lame...
  17. Yeh, this Superbowl sucked. Even a lot of the commercials were lame especially Hondas... Some good. But overall a disappointment.
  18. Think like you are a gorilla for a good hockey position.
  19. Leino was awful yesterday, can't take a hit in the corner, easily pushed off the puck and can't play D at all. I say keep him till the end of the year. I like him as the TANK Captain while Staphyl is hurt.
  20. Why not, use to be when I was a kid in Buffalo, Toronto was kinda of a Suburb, when Quebec went thru all its separation anxiety, Toronto became CA's banking center and grew exponentially while Buffalo has fallen on hard times for a variety of reasons, so the roles have switched a bit. That being said folks across the river feel closer to Buff than a lot of areas, so yes make sure Buffalo feels like a regional deal, better for everyone. The only irritating about the border is now we need passports, really.... still sticks in my craw.
  21. A note to the contrary. Changing the term will affect very little imo, except that you won't have the infernal running for reelection which starts the minute the President steps into office, which might be better, but it will weaken the Presidency's power. The lame duck will start much earlier unless you add some power.... say line item veto. It does work well in Virginia. Unfortunately, we will still be stuck with two bickering so called polarized parties, though in reality are not so far apart except neither will share credit for anything that both generally agree in principal on for any particular issue. There are a number out there that majorities support including some sort of tax reduction for the middle class, cheaper healthcare.... and despite the rhetoric and politics both sides support a balanced budget. That being said 85% of the budget is made up of defense and healthcare costs and addressing both of those issues is the only way that we as a nation can balance the budget. Discretionary cuts may be necessary to better focus priorities and get rid of ridiculous spending projects, but will do little to balance the budget. Having worked in the bubble for 21 years, I am so glad I am not in the middle of it anymore. The more away I am from it and near NYC, the more I realize how much big international cos control the world economy and affect political decision making. It takes a lot to overcome that barrier.
  22. So is Stafford hurt or hope please hope... is he on the trading block and that is the reason they are holding him out? Nuts, just saw the dreaded UBI next to his name... so much for hope... up with Tank! Get Stafford back soon... or was he starting to go on one of his dreaded scoring streaks for two weeks and the Sabres couldn't afford him in the lineup and still Tank.
  23. I agree on that last powerplay he was awful... Never seen a guy make so many bad passes and not be able to hit someone in the corner on the forecheck. Stafford may be lazy at times, but Leino just sucks.
  24. That is fine Sabres getting way to close to Edmonton and Calgary in the Standing and they have either 4 or 5 games at hand... Tank Nation is alive. Miller blew the 2nd goal, he went down way too early.
