Yes, offensive formations dictate the corresponding defenses to a certain extent. But that doesn't mean it always has to be the same thing; you can defend a spread offense using something other than the basic quarters coverage that is so predominant, but college DCs are reluctant. I don't think Rex was exaggerating when he said college QBs see that defense 90% of the time, with none of the variations even within quarters coverage, either. It's no wonder these kids can't recognize, let alone break down, the various defenses thrown at them at the next level. GO BILLS!!!

A defense that allowed the Giants to keep the ball for 41 minutes is what prevented our offense from more possession time. We were a hurry-up offense, anyway. But to put up a point a minute, regardless of Reed's drops, was not indicative of a great Giants defense. Quite the contrary. Our defense, Kelly's ego, and our coaches, in that order, lost that game. That gimmicky 2-5 front was tailor made for TT to run the rock right at them; our Oline would have feasted on the leverage of run blocking against standing D linemen. My guess is that the deposed witness's testimony convinced Cambria to convince Kane to make an offer too good to refuse. Gold digger or not, something uncovered in the Grand Jury proceedings brought the accuser back to the bargaining table. I doubt that something was favorable to Kane, given the DA's decision to convene the jury in the first place.
