  1. I couldn't venture a guess as to who that coach might be. Doesn't matter who the coach is until the assembled talent is on the ice. It's a good question though. I wonder if the attraction is anything like football where a good coach needs to see that franchise QB on the roster first. I would think that our pipeline may be attractive to some coaches out there, especially if we get one of McDeichel. And if Teddy feels he needs to throw in the towel before his three years are up (and who could blame him), I guess he really never was the man for the job in the first place. There's never any shortage of "interim" coaches out there I would think. There are only 30 of these jobs on the planet. GO SABRES!!!
  2. Keep the faith. There is size in the pipeline and a future coach that will realize hockey is about puck possession. And the Reinhart you are watching now won't bear much of a resemblance to the Reinhart we'll see in a couple years. GO SABRES!!! I'd be just as happy with Eichel who is off to a 3g 3a start after his first three games in a much more difficult league to play in. GO SABRES!!!
  3. So now you're not happy that Pegula isn't meddling enough? Tim Murray has the best pipeline of young talent already according to several outlets with more riches to come in the next draft. As much as it may pain some around here, Teddy is a mere placeholder. He's good for getting young guys to learn how to make effort an every game element and for teaching them how to make the necessary sacrifices to becoming consummate professionals, but I can't see Murray letting him anywhere near a fully functioning group of talented players poised to take the next step when it comes. That's gonna require an Xs and Os kind of coach and that's just not Nolan. GO SABRES!!!
  4. No worries, Hopeful. Your disdain for both parties and your independent spirit always come shining through. I wasn't accusing you of being a republican. I qualified my anti-republican party position only to point out that it's been an evolution over the years, not to rattle cages. Let's just agree to disagree on the issue. I think there are legitimate reasons to grant amnesty, not the least of which are the sheer logistical and economic ones.
  5. There's more to EVERYTHING discussed in these pages. The point is that there are valid reasons for doing things that don't always relate to the cynical point of view. And I find the idea that it's being proposed nowadays simply for the reason of gaining voters is the height of cynicism. Back in the 80s the cynical view held that Reagan just wanted to ensure the continued importation of a cheap labor force for corporate America. I was a card-carrying republican back then and if not for Reagan's leadership on the issue, it wouldn't have gotten done. The key was bipartisan ship as you indicated, but there is no potential for that in today's climate in Washington. The republican party is simply not interested in any aspect of bipartisan politics. Period. And I'm glad I'm a reformed member.
  6. I figured out what I don't like about Stewart: he's lazy when he's not being unlazy; poor attention to detail, like the drop pass to Myers to get out of their zone on the PP. GO SABRES!!!
  7. Trottier's press box analysis of "some guys" paying off. GO SABRES!!!
  8. There are legitimate reasons for offering amnesty aside from just attempting to increase their voting base. For example, what was the reason Republicans sought and passed an amnesty bill back in 1986?
  9. No doubt he isn't being helped by the talent and you're right, it starts there. That said, I don't want him anywhere near our talented team when we finally get one. I just don't think he's a good coach anymore. GO BILLS!!!
  10. Nice to see Reinhart continue to be wasted between two fourth line wingers that can't do anything for his game at this level. He should be between Stewart and Foligno instead. Nolan continues to show why he's in over his head. GO BILLS!!! Nolan's an idiot. As psyched as I was by his return, I'm that much more disappointed now. They aren't motivated, he doesn't do Xs and Os, and for all his talk, I don't think he has a clue about developing young players. How many regulation wins does he have in last 30 games? Something like one? Is that correct? He's a lousy coach and no amount of nostalgia is gonna change that. GO SABRES!!!
  11. I can appreciate what you're saying here and I hope he can realize he saved multiple lives vs. taking just one. I'd find it haunting, regardless.
  12. Thanks, Bio. Not exactly a wimpy virus.
  13. Hey LGR4GM or Biodork or anyone else that may be able to answer: How robust is the ebola virus? If left in the air on a stainless steel surface for instance, how long can it survive?
  14. Yep. It's as if we've forgotten we finished last overall last year and STILL didn't get the top overall pick. And the odds are gonna be worse if we finish last again this year. GO SABRES!!!
  15. That's the reason I didn't engage further up thread. Has nothing to do with being worried that you're a mod and that you would punish me over a disagreement. I was just letting you know I appreciate your role as a mod and think it's best not to engage on certain subjects and the whole subject of Iraq gets my blood boiling like none other.
  16. The thought of ANY Shia-led Iraqi government being a foil against Iran and it's intentions is pure folly. Quite the opposite is closer to the reality; they will be allies far more easily. It was Iran, afterall that took Maliki in when he fled Iraq years ago and even though Iraq has a new PM, Iran fully endorses him as well. This Iraq is NOT the Iraq that was at war with Iran in the 80s. This Iraq will side with Iran and the Ayatollah on most EVERY issue. They may not be in bed together, but they have adjoining rooms with a connecting door.
  17. This is undeniable. He served as our check in that region for years, even before their war against Iran. And all the "he was a bad man and had to be taken out" rhetoric rings hollow, especially now.
  18. With all due respect, freeman and because I respect your position as a moderator, I'll just end this here. Me going off on this subject wouldn't serve either of us. If that's being a wimp, I can live with it. I will urge you to consider the text I've put in bold. I am sorry, but "forceful policing" and establishing that "shining light of burgeoning democracy" are diametrically opposite ends. It simply was never going to be up to us to usher in their new government, nor should it have been. That was up to Malaki and other elected leaders. Unfortunately, they decided their Sunni minority had no real place at the table.
  19. This NEVER had a chance in happening before, during, or after we decided to go to war there. Not a snowball's chance, no matter how much we try to romanticize the notion. And many people knew it before hand. Including Colin Powell and others that lacked the courage of their convictions at the time, including all the spineless members of Congress who voted in favor. But if you insist on pointing a finger, I suggest starting with Malaki and his absolute bungling of that mirage of a stable democracy. You can't have a stable democracy if you willfully subjugate a large portion of your population.
  20. Partisan rant about the total failure of the Obama administration to stop these attacks in 3-2-1...
  21. K-9

    Zadorov?

Pales in comparison to the Mogilny defection, though. That was regular cloak and dagger stuff. GO BILLS!!!
  22. ISIS is a direct threat to oil supplies, anyway. And I submit we wouldn't be doing a damned thing about them otherwise. I simply ask myself, "What are the common interests relative to oil production in OPEC countries and North Dakota?" In terms of the companies that bring the oil to market, they are one and the same. Now, these companies don't have to pay the exhorbitant royalties for what they produce outside of OPEC, but that doesn't mean they will cut off their nose to spite their face, either.
  23. I can't stop laughing. Seriously, this is great stuff here. Keep 'em coming.
  24. Nutshell. Might be just as simple as reailzing Ted Nolan may be out of his depth at the moment. No wonder he's frustrated. GO SABRES!!!
