    Interesting. I never took that quote as pointing to the bogeyman, "fear of God" aspect of belief in order to adopt a morality to live by. Guess you had to be there.

    He's barely passable when describing action that you can watch on TV. He is a train wreck for anyone listening on the radio. Just terrible at painting the action and his lack of goal calling skills is that much more irritating. GO SABRES!!!

    Visited Helsinki years ago. IIRC, at the time they had the highest rate of alcoholism per capita in the world. Must be all that Seasonal Affective Disorder. Quite the hearty lot. Had a great time. GO SABRES!!! Helsinki is just a stones throw (in the curling sense) from Toronto, anyway. GO SABRES!!!

    None of the links you've given over the last half dozen years support your claim of today that Benson is being investigated for anything, let alone covering up for a pedophile. Nor do any of your links support your claims that Hodgson's dad hired hit men to have people whacked. It's always the same old noise. Little style, no substance. Anyway, I've given you enough attention today and it gets wearisome going around in the same circles. But please, let us know when Benson gets arrested.

    Bingo. The single largest contributor to the formation of ISIS in Iraq, after the removal of Saddam Hussein, was the exclusionary policy of Maliki who was appeasing his former hosts in Iran when he decided to exclude such a sizable minority from the process. He should have realized just how many Sunnis held positions in the military and in the police. Mass amounts of vehicles, arms, and personnel defected overnight. And so it goes.

    A link showing that Hodgson's dad was charged with conspiracy to commit murder would be nice. You can get on that after you provide the link indicating that Benson is being investigated for covering up the activities of a pedophile. Then maybe when you've finished all that you can work on providing the proof that Kaleta's uncle was slated to receive kickbacks for the ice rink. That's enough for now.

    Perhaps I misread your initial post in that I thought you were intimating that people who were mad at everything/everyone PSU were suddenly all forgiving because Pegula purchased the Sabres. It wasn't hard to reach that conclusion based on how you presented that post, thus why I questioned the timing. Thanks for the clarification. I am not saying you are connecting Pegula to anything. Only that one poster here has suggested that Benson was involved in a coverup protecting a pedophile and that he is being investigated as a result. All the while never once offering one shred of evidence to suggest that was the case. Ghost has offered several such scenarios over the years, including the suggestion that Hodgson's father hired indigenous Canadians to have someone whacked. Tin foil stuff. If you don't think it is, we can agree to disagree. I'm sure Sandusky had been raping children since he became sexually active and that some people in and around State College, PA had been aware of it for decades. I'm also sure the all powerful football institution silenced anyone who deigned to raise a concern.

    All good stuff here as well. Nothing to disagree with here at all. I am only looking at the question of insulting someone's faith. Quite simply, it cannot be insulted. It is transcendent. If Muslims are offended by caricatures of the Prophet or Christians by the cartoons of a "raptor Jesus", etc, then the faith has been lost.

    Your timing is off. Pegula bought the Sabres 7 months before the Sandusky story broke. We can criticize Pegula, Benson, and anyone else we want whenever we want. It's when people deliberately cross a line and accuse them of being involved in and covering up pedophilia without anything other than a tinfoil conspiracy theory that it becomes a problem. Especially from someone who has offered several other tinfoil conspiracy theories over the years.

    Everyone is well aware of Benson's role with the charity as well as others on the board with ties to PSU. Yes, the math is easy, but it doesn't mean a damned thing because there is no there, there. When you can link relative information that actually says Benson is under investigation, as you claimed, let me know.

    You offer up a three year old article with no mention of Benson to imply Benson is being investigated? That is some weak crap you are slinging. What is the CURRENT disposition of the investigation of the charity and can you point us to anything, ANYTHING, that suggests Benson was complicit?

    This is all good stuff to be sure. One can't belittle others if others can't be belittled. One can't be belittled if one doesn't take offense. Nothing anyone can say, no amount of ridicule what so ever, can have the power to shake one's faith. If it does, the faith isn't strong enough to begin with.

    Thanks for the clarification. My post was certainly not confined to their particular brand of being offended, though. It goes for anyone of any faith in anything.

    I came late to this dance and don't know what YEC is. Good point about tolerance. I submit faith is impossible without it.

    Smartness and wilfull ignorance are seldom a healthy combination. I think it is a dangerous formula, actually. And anyone offended by cartoon depictions of their God or Prophet or whatever are not as strong in their faith as they would have me believe. True faith needs to withstand the harshest of insults and other attempts to diminish it. It needs no justification, especially in an imagined defense of it.
