  1. re: electoral college and President and VP from the same state. I think it was worded oddly, but he was referring to the tendency that voters in a candidate's home state tend to vote for the candidate. You normally nominate from two different states in hopes you'll get a bump in two states rather than one. I was trying to think of a country that's as militantly Christian as the US, and I'm drawing a blank. Especially if you toss out the Catholic countries since the militant in the US tend to be Protestant and they don't get along with the Papists.
  2. Sabres fans are among the luckiest in the league.
  3. Maybe, but you definitely can from Discover. :)
  4. Down goes BOT! Down goes BOT!
  5. I'm good with it being the end of Jim Rome.
  6. Chester County PA does, I'd be surprised if Erie County doesn't. I don't want to be a jerk, but, you have no idea what goes into digital archiving based on this paragraph.
  7. There's a trick question: "If you are drafted by the Sabres, what number would you like to wear?" Anyone who answers 7, 11, 14, or 39 (I'm not counting Lala and Danny), they're immediately shown the door. Anyone who picks another number gets a dirty look from Rick as he snickers.
  8. But not to stuff cheese with hot peppers? You make no sense, sir.
  9. This! That's been a long time, at least 10 years I think. (also, seems ;)) I don't have a window to slang; the youngest person I talk to on any regular basis is my wife, who is 9 days younger than I am. Everyone I work with closely is older than I am.
  10. repeat after me: "Your emergency is not necessarily my priority."
  11. The smoking lamp is on.
  12. It'll make my current situation of listening to games via streaming radio a lot more palatable. Unless you're in Philly. ABC in Philly uses an ill-advised Low-VHF frequency in the digital switch so it's it's common to not be able to pick up ABC within the city limits, never mind the suburbs where I live. Apparently it gets better if you have a 30' outdoor antenna. :)
  13. Goals, schmoals. With more an more people cutting off cable, having 3 of the first 4 games of the SCF on cable (including a Saturday night) is killing the game more than anything else for me.

  15. Boca Raton, eh? Was there a PegulaJet sighting?
  16. Somewhat. Depend on the rules, they may not have to protect Matthews/Laine where Buffalo will have to protect Eichel since he's a year older. I have to think they're automatically slotted, other wise you'd end up with teams that have enough guys on NMC that they could protect everyone.
  17. I just can't get my head around American Hefeweizens, they mostly taste terrible to me. Magic Hat's (Circus Boy?) sat in my fridge forever because I just didn't want to drink it. I really dig Bavarian though (Franzikaner, Victory's Sunrise and Mad King), the spicy banana thing is awesome; the dry taste of Americans is huge turn off in this style for me.
  18. Freakonomics' current podcast is about Leicester City, but so far it'd be review for just about any footy fan.
  19. Yeah, you suck. I have 33. points, suck it! So here's my admission: my bracket is almost entirely cribbed from some reputable site's playoff preview (featuring actual hockey people). I'm almost wondering if I could have done better on my own.
  20. http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/199/66674/ I'm a sucker for gimmick beers. I really am. Give me something strange and I'm on it like PA on scrapple or pi2000 on a report that Auston Matthews may have signed a marketing deal with Swiss Chalet even though he doesn't actually eat chicken. Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin surely falls into that category. The difference here is a really do like it after having it. It's pretty warm, like, I just ate a portion of wings (hot) and I have that nice full-mouth burn going (disclaimer: I don't eat as much hot food as I used to). The fruit in the habanero comes out, as do the hops. It's not something I'd buy a case of, but I'd like to have a 6-pack every few months.
  21. Thanks for going for it PA; I saw the picture, thought of the conversation, and immediately tried to think of ways to non-creepily complement a young woman over the internet as middle-aged, married, parent. I didn't think it could be done, but then you go and do it with great aplomb.
  22. Maybe you just need to find the right IPAs. I immediately thought of this, even though it's a little over your ideal numbers: http://www.yardsbrewing.com/ales/ipa
