  1. Player contracts are standardized using American dollars by the CBA. Even though coaches aren't covered in that, you better believe that everyone talking contract today with Babcock was dealing with the same units. The canadian dollar vs. american dollar thing does not mean a thing in this discussion.
  2. After a much longer time on the job. When presented with a second coach-GM feud which involves the same coach as before, you're probably not going to be too fast to fire the GM who has been on the job a year and a half.
  3. There's a long list of crappy reasons listed in this thread, mine included. We can easily produce more. Most options in Dave's top tens sucked too (except #2, that one was always gold), so there's no shame in listing some crappy reasons here and there.
  4. And certain people are able to draw in more potential volunteer donors. I just hope that some of the non-matches that came forward over the past week are still willing to give to blue collar Joe Canada who also happens to need a transplant and is a match.
  5. Certain posters don't get along well. Other posters like to agitate. There's the quick summary for you.
  6. Why does Tim Murray get a pass? The answer is quite simple actually and his name is John Muckler. When it is documented that as a coach you don't get along with multiple GMs, it is completely natural for the blame to shift more towards Nolan. Sure, it's possible that he's a victim of a series of coincidences, but that definitely looks questionable.
  7. I'm kind of surprised this isn't a topic that Drane has jumped all over. A story put out about rich guy who needs a liver and days later he gets one. If nothing else, I hope this raises awareness and some other people in need of transplants find what they're waiting for as well.
  8. Why stop there, I want to get to reason # -100.
  9. Arkham Knight comes out a couple days after I close on my house. The timing could not be any worse.
  10. That movie came out the same week as avengers. I wonder how many people accidentally bought that ticket instead thinking it said age of ultron.
  11. They're going to force me to buy a PS4 sooner or later. Arkham Knight next month is going to make it awfully tempting.
  12. That actually explains a lot
  13. Not only that, but apparently we are also concerned about what a group of million and billionaires thinks about another billionaire. Why on earth do we give two shits about this?
  14. Ok, maybe Oreo has in fact been topped.
  15. I've been scratching my head for weeks now trying to figure out how what the team spends changes their revenue. Actually, things like this wind up creating at least a short term increase in revenue.
  16. in the last 30 minutes or so, I just checked in on this thread for the first time since around 4. Needless to say, my head hurts. Hopefully we can get back to talk of possible nicknames. We need something new that will be far worse than "Oreo".
  17. Put the shovel down.
  18. I'm a month away from the house as of today. The waiting game sucks, let's play hungry hungry hippos.
  19. The rinks themselves have gotten bigger over those years. Prior to the modern arena boom in the 90s they were practically like ball parks, with each building having its own dimensions. That's a big counter to anyone who says they shouldn't change something because that's the way it has always been. That and so many other things have changed over the years. Net size really is the most obvious thing to discuss in this topic. It is a change that is not going to have any effect on the visuals of watching a hockey game. Most won't be able to identify any difference in the net when watching a game. The game will still be played the same exact way, as opposed to any modified rules being suggested. I do think there are some good rules floating around out there, but ultimately coaches will figure them out, they always do.
  20. You chose an interesting term length there. 2 years is exactly what is left on Blashill's contract.
  21. I should have been more clear. What I was hinting at there was if Babcock intends on signing a short term deal, he may very well not want to be in Detroit much longer. That would probably encourage the team to be a little more careful with Blashill and try to prolong his status as heir.
  22. If that short-term contract for Babcock stuff is to be believed...
  23. No one can talk to Blashill unless Detroit allows it. Obviously they're not going to do that as long as the Babcock situation is still up in the air.
  24. And I don't feel like it's a bad thing to be compared to Brian Flynn. I'll be very curious to see what happens to him if he ever makes it onto a team that actually has first line talent. Once he's not asked to do far more than he's capable of, he may very well turn into quite the serviceable bottom 6 forward. There's no shame in that.
