  1. What sucks is that we can never know what the full story is on this thing. But it does lead to more fun with rampant internet speculation.
  2. I'm amazed at how crappy my recovery time has gotten. Two days after a workout is where I really get hit hard. I used to love that kind of muscle pain because I earned it, but now it lingers around a bit longer.
  3. Yesterday I was trying to get in touch with someone I used to work for up here in Boston to get a reference for a job interview that I have tomorrow. It turns out that he has moved on to a high ranking position at Duke, where he runs his department. He was glad to give me a reference, but then he asked me if I'd be interested in a job in Durham. So that was unexpected. The timing is a bit crazy as my family is moving down there later this month. At the start of the day, I had no idea where this former boss had moved on to, and by the end of the day, I wound up with a very interesting scenario.
  4. The two LA franchises in question were also already located in LA at the time of the sale (or pending sale depending on that whole Sterling thing). The moving expenses would have to be added in. Now those may wind up being manageable given that kind of boost in value, but it is probably going to wind up being much cheaper to move someone else. Oakland is supposed to be on a one-year lease, so the prime target couldn't be much more obvious.
  5. What about the possibility that at least one of the five have been turned? We're not going to release these guys without thoroughly thinking it through. This thing doesn't go on for five years without our intelligence community being very well aware of a lot of things. As has been suggested several times early in the thread, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see these guys involved in a drone strike somewhere down the line.
  6. They're going to get one hell of a boost once that sale goes through. It may not last long, but people will be going just to get some of that "hey, look at me, I'm tolerant" post-Sterling credibility. The timing is really good seeing as how the Lakers are struggling now.
  7. I stopped reading here and began wondering about that ring.
  8. Didn't the earlier posts say that the pull ups were new this year? If that's the case, of course Doughty did zero. So did Marek Zagrapan, Artem Kryukov, and David Cooper.
  9. This kid went on and on for what seemed like a half hour. You just know that everyone waiting in line was thinking "well this is going to make me look really bad". I'm pretty sure he did about 375 of them. I had nothing anywhere near that severe, but sleeping was a major league pain in the ass. I toss and turn a bit, so that caused a ton of trouble.
  10. I'm surprised the bottom right doesn't say "mute". They might as well throw all the common screw ups in there.
  11. I had a rotator cuff injury about five years ago. Once I was done with PT, I tried a pull up once and I will never attempt one again. It was excruciating.
  12. The tooth picks were usually the kids who could do the most. The kid in my high school class who had the most pull ups was the scrawniest kid in the class. If you don't have any weight, it's easy to pull yourself up.
  13. If you're racist, that's fine. But if you're racist AND have alzheimers? Get the hell out. The whole thing looks bad all around and the league deserves crap for the way they've handled Sterling's ownership as a whole. I hope they get it.
  14. I wonder if there's any chance they could have turned these guys as moles. The tracking chip is probably much more likely though.
  15. Is that the lady who does the Today Show with Kathy Lee?
  16. I'm under the impression that basically everybody throws up after the VO2 max. Every description I've ever heard is brutal.
  17. Or Tyler Myers in at least his rookie of the year season, same age saw Zadorov now and not a single pro game under his belt when he made the jump. It can be done and it does look like more 19 year old defensemen are sticking in recent years.
  18. The league needs to hope that someone so show convinced Sterling to walk away quickly. If not, the mental angle is going to be played up significantly. That Anderson cooper interview was the perfect example that not everything is there with this guy. And I'm still holding out hope that someone's got some really good info on a few owners because that's when it suddenly gets very interesting. We'd have to be very naive to think that he's the only one with a few skeletons in his closet. I do agree with you on the comment about early stages of a disease though. Even if it's not advanced, there's still something there that can make him go off the tracks quickly. Oh, but one good thing has finally come from this. I haven't heard a single mention of his girlfriend with the welders mask visors in a few days now.
  19. But can hit a mentally unstable guy with a multimillion dollar fine? To punish him for something that may very well wind up being a mental disorder, it winds up looking like the NBA rushed into things too quickly and instead it can be spun as them being insensitive to mental disorder. As for his past history of being a slimeball, they missed the boat on that one. They can't suddenly reverse course on things they ignored for a very long time.
  20. McDonagh and Pacioretty in the 1st round. Subban in the 2nd. Gainey absolutely nailed the draft that year (2007).
  21. Happy Friday? You really need to work on those threats.
  22. I'd be curious to see him compete in a dive off against Boston. That is one part of Skinner's game that I absolutely hate. I'll admit to not seeing any of him this year, so it is possible that he may have outgrown that a bit.
