You wouldn't happen to have a link to this study would you? I'd be curious to check it out when I have some free time. I hear the numbers they randomly throw out there on the news claiming to prove racial bias, but they don't actually prove anything. There are too many other factors in play, so throwing only raw percentages out there is misleading. I personally think that some of these other factors carry as much weight, if not more than race, but that's where we actually have to read the entirety of some of these studies instead of just running with the single sentence the media decides to run with.

I've hoped for a while that they could make it work down there. The Phoenix market (you know, the place where they don't actually play) is massive and it's one that the league could absolutely use. You're probably thinking of that other show Bruce was in from that era, Brisco County Jr. He pretty much plays the same character in everything... check that, he awesomely plays the same character in everything.

Granted, if you take the picture at the perfect time, you can claim that it looks like McDavid is checking out Toew's ass. A single picture can be very misleading when trying to draw any of these conclusions.

The comparison is actually far more interesting than you probably even realized. Both players would be one who started off well with some promise, then completely fell off the map when they were a part of an truly awful hockey team. I won't expect that kind of turnaround for Hodgson, there should be a sharp bounce back for him... whether it is here or somewhere else.

I feel like the drawing of the gun isn't really a major concern in that video. I don't put much stock in the analysis of the pictures that was included in bio's link, but as I watch the video, it is very clear that the officer was completely focused on that one kid when he pulled his gun. I don't know what the kid said or what exactly that gesture was that he made towards his shirt/waistline, but it does look very aggressive to me. Getting crowded as he was at that very moment, I have no problem with him pulling the gun. It may have gotten much uglier if he hadn't. And ultimately, he didn't shoot anyone. I would love to know exactly what sparked the tackling of the girl though. That portion is just off camera. Whether or not his actions were justified, something must have happened to spark that. What did she say and who initiated contact? Those are the big questions to me. The thing that bothers me about the coverage of this whole situation and many of the other recent stories is that complete blame is thrown fully at the cops. For a long list of reasons, there is a ton of tension between the police and black people. We seem to focus solely on one side of that relationship, but at some point people are going to need to realize that both sides need to make steps to improve things. There isn't just one single guilty party here.

The thing that bugs me more than anything is how often these stories pop up. Everyone talks about how disgusting these stories are, but at the same time, we're not the least bit surprised when the latest accusation comes out. Mankind is far more screwed up than we could ever imagine.

The part where it started to annoy me was when fans starting thinking that they need to do it too. And speaking of that Penguin team, the one thing they should ban is the Crosby playoff "beard".

I get sick of having to hear about playoff beards. I just don't care to hear a single word about a player's physical appearance while I am watching a game.

I suppose it could potentially be viewed as a spoiler, so click this link at your own risk. I just came across this awesome bit of casting for season two of Daredevil. I don't care too much about the actor choice (he was great in the Walking Dead though), I'm just pumped to see that character added to the show.

I don't like Kaleta or his style of play, but I do realize that it is a style that can help out a team. If it's not him, they're still going to look for someone who brings a similar style. I guess I'd have no problem with him being on the team as long as he's not getting any more than 4th line minutes. If nothing else, he serves as a distraction for the other team while he's out there and if his ice time is limited, his reputation is less likely to have him sitting in the box as frequently.
