  1. And then there was that time where his head popped off while trying to catch a ball at the wall.
  2. The term poopsplosion is in fact awesome though.
  3. They need a hall of fame for sports stories. Originally being a righty and converting to a lefty would definitely be a HoF story. I'm fine with there never being a unanimous voting. I know there are politics and other craziness involved in the process. It's such a minor point, but when I think of who would be the highest vote getter in history, Griffey would not come to mind anywhere near the top of that list. But it really does come down to that craziness I mentioned. A big part of that voting is that he is the one guy from the steroid era who they all assume never touched the stuff (I'll be curious to see the voting when Jeter becomes eligible too). I'm not entirely sure why anyone is viewed that way.
  4. I'm sure exactly what part you're getting at here since your words apply to just about every single post ever made on this board.
  5. I wonder how much being a second generation player comes into play for him as well. A simple phone call to dad puts him in touch with someone who has walked the same road. That and the things he would have learned while growing up. edit: And I now see you did mention a hockey family. I must have skimmed over that line at first.
  6. Driving tips from O'Reilly
  7. I heard the stat this morning that he received the most votes ever. I don't know if that's in terms of the absolute number or the percentage he received, but when looking at it that way, I don't agree with the sentiment of your post. Of course he belongs there, but he shouldn't be the guy who is closest to being a unanimous pick. But hey, we think he never juiced, so it's ok for everyone to vote for him.
  8. Even that is looking at it too deeply when it comes to Stafford. He was a pending UFA who was going to be leaving the team at the end of the year. Nothing more than that needs to be said about him when looking at any trade made.
  9. What is it that made today a crazy trade day?
  10. Are you suggesting he should wear depends?
  11. They really need to make an all pro-style list and be done with the game all together. These games are already meaningless enough as is, but the combination of the positional requirements of this new structure and the "one player per team" rule is going to bring on a ton of annoying rants about how so and so was screwed over.
  12. Speaking of that show and the purpose of this thread... season premiere tonight!
  13. I'm always told that it happens and there are articles online that state it, but I haven't actually seen it in practice yet, at least not on the car we bought 1 year ago. They say it's about gas efficiency, so I bet it may be the case with some of the smaller cars, one's I wasn't specifically looking at last year.
  14. It's funny that they play this whole game now at car shops but at the same time a lot of cars out there come with patching kits instead of a donut. So they're placing that decision in the hands of someone who has absolutely no clue what the guidelines are.
  15. It was in the treads, closer to the side, but clearly in the treads. My last punctured tire (back in the Boston area) was in the same exact spot and that one was patched no questions asked. I made the mistake of going to a specialized tire place this time around, of course they'd want to sell a new one. At first they told me they'd patch it, but later their story changed. It was an obvious sales pitch.
  16. I saw the Book of Mormon last night. That was amazing.
  17. You may call it a sweet name, but the dude is destined to be called Gloria his whole life. I call that a curse.
  18. It's all about Darcy, admit it.
  19. One place tells me my tire can't be patched and I need to buy a new one, the next patches it and then doesn't even charge me. It's funny how obvious some places can be with trying to screw you over.
  20. I can do both.
  21. Oops, I just noticed the typo in my post. I meant to say that I'm going the week after the superbowl, so I think the preliminary odds should be in place by then. Neither will be long shots. I'm only looking at throwing away a small about of money on something stupid. I bet I wind up passing on it completely, but I'm at least entertaining the thought right now.
  22. Last year I set off on a mission to be super active at the gym. It started well but then a really bad case of the flu sidelined me for close to a whole month in late February. I never got back to the level I wanted to be after that. This year, we start again, but it figures that I'm already under the weather to start out the year. Screw that though, I'm fighting through it after work today. No excuses this time around. I could be in far worse shape than I am right now, but I want to get back to where I was about 5 or so years ago. We talk about starting to have kids, so I want to be as healthy as humanly possible for any of those who may show up in the shrader household in the future.
  23. I'm a little early on this since the playoffs are only about to start, but I'll throw the question out there. I'm going to Vegas the week after vacation and I feel like throwing away $10-$20 on a long shot superbowl winner for next year. Any thoughts? I only have two rules for my bet: 1. The team must have a QB 2. Never make any bet involving the Bills I haven't thought too much about it yet, but I'm seriously considering Oakland (or is it LA?). I haven't paid too much attention to them though over the 2nd half.
  24. So now you want to blame David Legwand for all of this? The limits of your witch hunt truly show no bounds.
  25. Where was he trying to hide all of that? Wait, don't answer that.
