  1. Our last former Sabre defenseman turned first time head coach worked out fairly well. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Phil will either flop or work out. That's one hell of a risky prediction, I know.
  2. It reminds me of how just about every buffalo born player is targeted by our fans at some point
  3. They're wearing them essentially as a thank you to their host. It's pretty obvious what they're going for and they translated those jerseys over to hockey just about identically. I have absolutely no issue with these jerseys. They are what they are. It's too bad Canada can't troll us and find a way to go with patriot or dolphin themed jerseys.
  4. I just got a call on my office phone from a recruiter looking for people in my line of work. I get emails all the time and the occasional phone call, but never on my office phone. I'm lucky if I make even one call a month from that number and I never give it out. I'd love to know how these people got a hold of it and know exactly who I am. They are local, so I guess it's possible that someone might have access to our contact directory.
  5. The numbers aren't the least bit comparable, but a college goalie I see Petersen having a similar ceiling to is Scott Darling. It's tough to read too much into his college numbers though because those were some truly awful Maine teams.
  6. Ahhh Drew Stafford. I miss the old argument made against him on here where it was stated that he doesn't score goals in games where he doesn't score goals. That was truly some ground breaking stuff.
  7. Buffalo's giving up way too much for that to be a wookie offer. They won't leak it to the public, but they'll take to each other privately. So the press might not know it if Daly's order is followed, but the teams will.
  8. So you've covered Vegas, but that still leaves 30 other GMs out there that don't care about the expansion fee.
  9. For a second there after reading the first 6 words, I thought a Subban "rumor" had no been magically created.
  10. Even if not leaked to the public, I'm sure most of the GMs will be well aware of most of it.
  11. At least they're not adding an H into that word like people like to do sometimes with "wooooooo". "Whooooooooo" is a question and not something Ric Flair would yell out. I enjoyed it, but I wish it hadn't got so much hype (there's that word again, used properly though). For me personally, the bar was set way too high after hearing those initial reactions.
  12. Trading away your top guy while you're hosting a draft that doesn't have any of the big name prospects of previous years is probably not the kind of splash I'd want to make. I think it would anger more fans than it would please.
  13. Signing a guy to a $750k contract is hardly the evidence you should be looking for if you think a team is about to walk away from their starter. This isn't even backup money, it's very young guy in development money.
  14. Let's wait and see what we would be giving up before saying that. If it was Tim Murray, we'd probably be handing away a first round pick in that trade.
  15. Jersey would invest $16 million into a pair of wings. Makes perfect sense.
  16. He's praying for a Bieber and Nickelback sighting?
  17. You probably know my thoughts on bounceyball already, but I do wish they had gotten the sweep. It would have been a perfect close to a pointless postseason. But beyond that, 16-0 would be pretty cool in any series-based playoff.
  18. How does that work, playing around with the dosage? Is there at least a recommendation or do you have to completely wing it?
  19. It's the only sport where the casual observer doesn't have any clue where a prospect comes from. They pretty much materialize out of thin air. Maybe it's different if you're in a market where college baseball is big, but other than some of the mega prospects like Harper, you pretty much never hear just about anything about these guys right up until they're about to get called up.
  20. Ok, confusing is the wrong word. People love drafts in every league except MLB. It's the ultimate off the radar event even though it's huge in every other league.
  21. Is there anything more confusing than the MLB draft? I understand why they have to hold it in the middle of the season, but it's so incredibly awkward.
  22. You saw one right here in Buffalo just a couple years ago.
  23. No, you're right. I think it's a good example of where the real issues lie here though. What you're talking about with the CHL and what others have said about the NCAA are issues with those organizations, not the NHL.
  24. I thought your girlfriend was quickly disappointed.
  25. Exactly. And now they're about to lose one that they actually drafted and invested time into. It was never a problem until that long shot hit close to home. My main problem with everything discussed here is that each suggested "fix" is nothing more than a punishment to the player who goes the college route. If these suggestions miraculously came to be, all it does is dry up the college talent pool.
