  1. Or just go to China or Hong Kong. You can get a really nice suit, custom tailored to your specs for around $75. You pick out the wool and everything. I have 5 or 6 that I've picked up over the past three years, and all are top notch materials and craftsmanship. Much better than the last suit I bought at a department store. While you're there, get some glasses if you need them... only $24 for the frame, lenses, and eye exam.
  2. The Checkers are loaded with good young talent. They should be a fun team to watch... minus MAG.
  3. Living in Charlotte, I'm pissed that Rochester won't come to town this year, but at least I can see OKC 4 times.
  4. I just hope he doesn't get lazy and bored in the Q if gets "too easy" for him. Perhaps the KHL would have been a better option, a la Yakupov.
  5. I saw him play in person last year in Kingston. He was like a pinball, all over the ice. Isn't afraid to go to the net or play in traffic. He plays much larger than his size.
  6. Thanks for posting the link. I enjoyed watching the 3rd period from the comfort of my office.
  7. I saw a game in Cologne last season while I was there on business, and it was awesome. I hadn't seen that much energy from the fans outside of NCAA hockey.
  8. I thought Darryl Hammond did Clinton on SNL...
  9. See, that's the opposite problem from my mom. She's a computer programmer (COBOL) whose been out of work for over 2 years now. She's tried learning some of the new languages, but can't get the hang of it. So, she's trying to get any job she possibly can. Now she lives with me (lost her house), has no savings (spent it all trying to save her house) and her unemployment ran out in March, so she's on my dime. She has applied EVERYWHERE. Minimum wage included. Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target, you name it.... nothing. Yesterday she had a 3 hour interview for a job through a staffing agency for data entry work at $11/hour. 35 people showed up in a group interview format. 33 were hired on the spot. She was one of the unlucky two. Why? Overqualified. She has some limitations with physical labor (she's 59), but is willing to do anything, and no one will give her a job.
  10. I've lost 50 lbs over the past year (215 down to 165). I'd love to say it was directly related to an increased workout regimen, but I attribute it 100% to my patented 3D diet. Divorce - Depression - Diarrhea Whatever works though, right? On the plus side, I had to go get all new hockey gear for the fall, because nothing fits!
  11. holy, crap. that's the best thing i've seen in a while.
  12. That's a great deal. Thanks for posting. Last time I was in China I got an eye exam, frames and lenses for about $30. That's the 2nd time I've done it, and they're great. A week after I got home I scratched the hell out of one of the lenses. I can still wear them, but can't afford to new glasses anywhere around here. I'll definitely check this site out!
  13. Bio- sorry to hear about your dog. I've been there when two of mine own were put down, and that's never easy. On to my complaint... met with my boss yesterday to re-discuss my eventual leaving. It seems as though he's had a change of heart and realized how much I mean to the company. So, he offered to demote me from Director of Sales to a junior sales position, give me a 20% decrease in salary, AND reduce commission/bonus payouts for performance, all while expecting me to basically continue doing what I'm doing now, minus the travel and managing three other sales managers. He said if I didn't like it, then he'd keep me on until I hire my replacement and find a new job for myself. I actually laughed, thanked him for being so kind, and told him I'd place an ad on Career Builder by the end of the week.
  14. So with all the drama surrounding my son over the past year (divorce, possible abuse, etc), I've decided I no longer feel comfortable traveling internationally for my job. I just don't like being away from him and don't trust my ex. Last year I was away for 120 days in all, this year, around 75. So, I told my boss I had no interest in continuing to travel. He basically told me he understood, especially given the situation, but that I was no longer of value to the company. For a small company (8 employees), I bring in about 80% of the revenue (+/- $1.57 million last year). Fair enough, I get it, but then he tells me to kiss my $10,000 sales bonus goodbye, because it is suddenly contingent upon my ability to travel. Huh? How so? It was contingent upon meeting sales goals, which were met. And then, because he's so nice, said he'd keep me with the company until I find a new job, but I can't leave until my replacement has been hired and adequately trained, which will be sometime in December, January or February.
  15. The Japanese guys always insist on eating at Japanese steakhouses/hibachi joints, and then complain about how they're not as good as back home (surprised? really?). They asked for karaoke once, but I got out of that one. I've even had dinner at a hibachi place in Cologne, Germany, that's how obsessed they are (which, coincidentally is the best I've been to outside of Japan). The Chinese clients that visited here in Charlotte insisted on going to some absolutely awful dim sum place. It was horrible. They seemed to enjoy it, but you can never tell with them. They didn't know what to make of the Chicago taco truck experience. It could have been the food... or the atmosphere... or the ghetto... who knows, but best damn taco I've ever had.
  16. I've had to travel throughout the US with visiting Japanese and Chinese colleagues, and they always insist on eating Japanese/Chinese food. It's horribly annoying. The one time I got to pick, I took them to a taco truck on the south side of Chicago. Win me.
  17. While I'd love to think something is happeneing, the inclusion of Ben Eager in any deal, and framing him as something that would benefit the Sabres is laughable at best. While the Sabres are definitely soft (albeit improving), I just can't see how Eager would improve this team one bit. The past few years it seems like he's been passed around the league more than a bong at a frat party.
  18. That old thing is as big as a whale
  19. While an OHL team would be cool, I'm not sure it would work. I think they're more interested in expanding the presence of the Jr. Sabres (OJHL).
  20. The Erie Otters play in Erie, PA. In 2010-2011, the Otters averaged 1,749 per game. London led the way that year with 8,947.
  21. I went to a game last season in Kingston with a couple of friends, and we got great seats, first row on the glass, for $12 IIRC.
