  1. don't even mention that effing "grandma got rear-ended by a reindeer" song. another month or two and we'll have to hear that crap all the time.
  2. so i started a new job this week. it's supposed to be a pretty sweet gig doing some international sales/marketing, and all flippin week i've done nothing. today i moved some boxes around and put together the new mother effin coffee maker. the vp who i report to has to go over with me the major project i've been hired to work on, but she's been busy all week. today we finally scheduled a meeting for 4:30 (the 3rd time we've scheduled something), but she had to go because she forgot about her hair appointment. company pres is back in town tomorrow and i've got squat done on a project he expects done before monday. what a first week. my wife says to quit bitchin since i'm getting pretty good money for sitting on my duff all day. i want to actually do some work.
  3. the 4th line had a few great shifts. peters made a great play bringing it out of the zone and starting the rush. i know many of you don't like peters, but i was impressed with his limited play last night.
  4. kalinin was brutal. hecht made some sweet passes, threw his weight around, and was a monster along the boards. he really atoned for the first goal against.
  5. just a thought on ryan... they're already pushing the cap envelope by having paille and stafford up with peters as a scratch (see today's buffalo news article). now hecht is out short term and they call ryan up. this puts even more strain on the cap number while peters is still getting paid to watch. what's even more interesting is that, if i remember correctly, ryan will have to clear waviers when he gets sent back down. i don't know about the rest of you, but this really doesn't make too much sense to me.
  6. tampa didn't play horribly last night, but they didn't look great either. two of the ranger goals were debatable and they had one that was disallowed. tortorella got tossed towards the end of the 2nd and everything went down hill from there. tampa's a hit and miss team. when they're on, they look really good, but when they're off, they've gotta be one of the worst in the league. from what i've seen this season they are easily the least physical team in the league, have a ton of skill up front, and lousy defence.
  7. while driving home i was listening to the game on my xm radio (nyr feed) and the announcers are horrible. it's the damn radio, i can't see anything, and everything is so general - "the sabres bring it in... there's a shot... save by weekes... rangers cross into the buffalo zone..." well how the hell did they get it out of the zone? we are so blessed to have rick and jim. also, at the start of the game the play by play guy says "the rangers will be in their home blues, while the sabres will be wearing their road whites, with the gold and black trim. it's taking a little while to get used to this new look."
  8. max is a flipping disgrace. his head is too damn big for his own good. everyone was so scared about rory playing, but he was a hell of a lot better than max. he just plain sucked a$$ tonight.
  9. teppo should be back, so who sits? fitzpatrick - who i don't think has been too bad lately, or one of the others?
  10. i missed the game as i was watching my beloved badgers win another ncaa championship, but what a nice surprise. i refused to watch the ticker reporting the scores because i didn't want to be upset about the sabres during the uw game.
  11. i noticed on the nhl super stats that after 1, drury only had a little over 3:40 of ice time, as well as grier, where as novotny, pominville, and afinogenov all logged over 6 minutes. any clue as to why? bad/good play?
  12. i love the fact that on any given night, any one of the 12 forwards can absolutely shine. drury puts up 3 points tonight. briere did it the other night. dumont the other. THIS is what makes teams successful. a team with one good line will never get far in the playoffs.
  13. I hear ya on that, but I don't think Boston has any guys who'd go with Peters. The only guys they've got who are half decent fighters are Gill, Lacotoure, and Boynton. If they had a real heavyweight, someone like a Laraque, Boogaard, or Shelley, then I could see dressing Peters. On top of that... if you dress Peters, who do you scratch? All 12 of the forwards who have been playing deserve to be in the lineup.
  14. screw Peters, Gaustad can chuck 'em. let him take care of it.
  15. rory's in there... kalinin is still out, so there's only 6 dmen
  16. being at the game, and seeing vanek's pitiful shootout attempt firsthand, what the hell happened? that was almost as bad as when wideman from st. louis came in and fell down. the look on numminen's face when vanek botched that one was priceless.
  17. looks like hecht has a grade 1 mcl sprain (per dr. ruff). no olympics for jochen.
  18. i really like the fact that the 4th line is getting a lot of ice time. they need to get some energy going
