  1. Hope it wasn't you who got laid off....
  2. I'd welcome it so long as it's only a 2 year deal and no more than $2-3 mil per. I wouldn't want him to take the roster spot of a youngster, but he'd be a good guy to help develop some of our up-and-comers (see what he did with Giroux).
  3. I think Vanek is done, and will probably request a trade after the season. He just lost two friends off the roster and now he wants off too. As others have said the only guys it seems like who are still trying are Miller, Kaleta, Ott and maybe a few of the younger guys trying to make their mark for next year (Flynn, Pysyk, etc.).
  4. Dave Mishkin (Lightning guy) is bad, but IMO no one is worse than Edwards. He'd be tolerable if the Bruins weren't playing, but I can't take listening to him ballwash the Bruins all game.
  5. It's interesting that Darcy said he and Minnesota originally had talks involving another player. Many are speculating it was Vanek. In taking on Pominville, Minnesota is just barely under the cap ($295 K I believe). Trading for Vanek would have meant they'd need to move dollars the other way to clear cap space ($5.3 mil for #29, $7.1 mil for #26). It'd be interesting to find out just how much that came into play in the trade talks with Darcy.
  6. Yeah, he already confirmed to UW that he's coming back next year. I think he'll come out after his junior year.
  7. I think they're both gone before training camp starts.
  8. David Pagnotta ‏@TheFourthPeriod59s Sabres source says Pominville deal their only trade today.
  9. Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie12s BUF's only trade today is Jason Pominville to MIN tho we are still waiting for precise return, Larsson, Hackett and ??? picks.
  10. I know, right? I don't usually follow him, but wanted to today just to see what he was throwing out there compared to the real media folks.
  11. Take it with a grain of salt.... Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund28s Source in Minnesota says deal is Pommer for Hacket, Larson AND a first and a second.
  12. Joe Haggerty ‏@HackswithHaggs2m Per a source, @CSNNE is reporting that the Boston Bruins have traded for Wade Redden in exchange for a draft pick. #BruinsTalk
  13. Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund1m Pomminstein traded to Minnesota is done. (e5)
  14. I'm expecting plenty of movement within next 30 minutes (just had Taco Bell for lunch)
  15. Agreed. With his contract you gotta take what you can get.
  16. I wouldn't think so either, but maybe with Columbus playing well and having a new front office in place he'd consider it? Who knows. In any other season I'd say Columbus would definitely be on his 8 team list, but maybe things have changed.
  17. FWIW, just spoke with a colleague in Columbus who said he heard a rumor of Ryan Johansen (4th overall 2010) + 1st for Pominville + 3rd. Would you take it?
  18. I know one family here who took in a kid from Denmark and that ended horribly as well (he was an alcoholic), and I knew a girl from Poland who came and was basically brought in to babysit 3 little kids while the rich parents went out to party. My cousin went to Austria and that didn't end well either. Being/hosting an exchange student should be such an awesome experience, unfortunately all the experiences I personally know of have been anything but. Sorry to hear about this one, weave.
  19. Here's my take. This team isn't going anywhere as-is. Now is a perfect time to cash in on some aging assets (Miller, Pominville, Stafford, Leopold, Regher, etc). Do I advocate trying to lose? No. But if the veterans on this team can be moved for prospects/picks, and we lose in the process, then so be it. Let the kids play, gain some experience and re-group in the offseason with a new GM/Head Coach (although I don't think Regier will be fired, even if they do finish dead last). Will I root against the Sabres? Never. Do I want them to maximize their return on some players and build for the future? By all means, yes.
  20. That's exactly what he is. He can talk football and baseball, but he's basically a blowhard who writes a column or two about hockey every year.
