  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah he should go right next to Ben Bishop and Steven Reinprecht.
  3. I don’t know if the steal was attempted. Simply got picked off of first.
  4. Yeah, and now everyones reaching for roslovic who's agent is Claude Lemieux, who's son basically said "i'm not playing for buffalo". He was Olofssons agent when they signed him to those deals, but that was restricted free agency so you have a lot less control - and he still seemed to stress short-term deals to get out of buffalo.
  5. When Ruff got to Jersey, the team was insanely young up-front (Bratt, Hughes, Hischier all under 23 - and a few others) and the blue line was pretty poor. Sabres this year tried to improve the blue line, and they need growth from the young forwards in Quinn, Benson, Kulich.
  6. Effectively, we came to the plate with 2 outs and a man on 1st who after a pitch got caught stealing thus ending the inning.
  7. I feel like the only way they'll try and spend to the cap is approaching the deadline if they're in contention. It's also probably the only time that a player might waive a NTC/NMC to come here so it increases the talent pool, but also usually has increased trade costs. Unrestricted free agency was terrible this year after the majority of players opted to re-up prior, so it was almost like striking out without ever even going up to bat.
  8. When a player falls into Lindy's disfavor the outcome is predictable. The player will see limited ice time or be benched and then sent packing. Both Clifton and Docker fell into this vulnerable category. Lindy seems to be an old school coach who when he makes a judgment on a player, it sticks. There are coaches who try to utilize and maximize talent on hand while there are coaches whose approach leans toward my way or the highway. Taking an overview perspective, from the ownership to the GM's office to the coaching staff in general, everything seems to be third-rate. When your boat is taking on water, how do you stay afloat when the bucket you are using to clear the water out has holes in it? The never-ending cycle of futility.
  9. Taro has it.
  10. The Grigorenko pick would've been outside the 12 year window he's looking at. And, he did state the last batch of players were those that weren't DIRECTLY stemming from any of those picks. So, can see why he didn't include guys that came into the organization a trade later wouldn't be counted as stemming directly from Compher and the pick that went out for O'Reilly.
  11. Today
  12. Isn’t Thompson part of the Compher, Grigorenko - ROR - trade tree? Last I looked Compher (2013)was a 2nd rd pick from the tank era and Grigorenko (2012) was a 1st. Isn’t Johnson, a 1st in 2019, part of the same trade tree?
  13. TBH it just needs a good goalie, doesn't matter if they are a vet or not.
  14. I just don't think this guy is any better than Clifton but we shall see.
  15. Both of last year’s backups, sandstorm and Houser, are without contracts. I doubt Sandstrom returns, but Houser seems to resurface annually as the organizational number 5. The plan seems to be rotating the two young guys between starting in Jacksonville and backing up in Rochester. Their youth is a main reason why I’m pretty sure Levi is pencilled in for Rochester. UPL spent most of the year in the ECHL when he was their age and Ullmark didnt come over until he was 22. Can’t remember the last time the Amerks had a 20 or 21-year-old goalie playing regularly.
  16. That goalie list looks like it could really use a veteran.
  17. Yeah my brewing was early ‘90s and it cost me $40 to make just shy of 2 cases of IPA and about $7 to go to the brewery for a growler. I did miss the aroma and roasting the barley ( I’d snack on some of the barley out of the oven). I didn’t miss waiting for the wort to cool so I could pitch the yeast and obviously sterilizing bottles.
  18. No. Me, my wife and two boys live in Charlotte but we're visiting Buffalo. Having a great time. Her Dad has a spot on Snyder Beach and spent all day yesterday there for his 70th. My parents and siblings are in Cheektowaga and Alden, so spent today with them.

  20. With Canadian beer prices, a batch that costs $40 all-in would easily be $120 at the LCBO. With my time, obviously the per hour savings aren't great unless I'm also having fun making it... which for now I am. The biggest benefit is the ability to customize the beer. I'm not sure if I've ever seen a cherry wheat on this side of the border. Now that I can make my own, I can make as much as I want if I like it. To your point about washing bottles I hear you! A keg would be really nice! 🫣
  21. It’s interesting that 3 key veteran forwards from last year remain unsigned: Rousek, Murray and the captain Jobst. Rousek has gone back to Europe and Meyer looks like his obvious replacement. Geertsen and Leschyshyn aren’t direct parallels, but they may slide into the roster spots of the other two. Neither Jobst, nor Murray have signed anywhere that I’ve seen. I wonder if they could still re-sign, or if the idea is to lean on Helenius and Wahlberg more in their roles.
  22. By “next year”, do you mean 10 weeks from now?

  24. What the current Sabres have to show for the past 12 years of their own first-round picks: Kulich, Levi, Tuch, Krebs, Östlund, Greenway, Byram, Dahlin, Norris, Quinn, Power, McLeod, Benson, Malenstyn, Helenius, Mrtka and a 2026 4th-rounder. What they have to show from the rest of the draft over those 12 years: Timmins, Kozak, Kesselring, Doan, Bryson, Luukkonen, Samuelsson, various prospects What they have to show from various signings and trades not directly involving those 12 years if picks: Lyon, Danforth, Jones, Zucker, Thompson, Johnson
