Morning sickness?

I kind of like where the Sabres are at, talent-wise. You have a decent veteran based anchored by Tuch (for the time being anyway), Tage and Dahlin, and decent supporting cast. You have some young players that are past the "breaking into the NHL" stage and contributing in a significant way. And you have a few players right smack in the "breaking into the NHL" stage with more behind them. It's not a team built around a superstar; it's a team with a decent cast of characters that is growing into itself, with the right support being added (Zucker, McLeod, Doan, Kesselring, Norris, if the last two can get and stay healthy). I kind of think it will be ironic if Adams gets fired now because it feels like the last year or so he's finally learning the craft; or maybe that's just Jarmo taking the reins. A few players I think will be long term stalwarts on a successful Sabres team include Krebs, Kozak and Malenstyn. You might laugh, but that's the kind of player that's been missing. I'm also hoping that Östlund turns into this edition of the Sabres version of Tim Connolly, sans concussion issues. When he was sent down I thought maybe he needed some AHL time, but last night's game he looked great. Also looking forward to Rosén's return.

Have they been elite the last 15 games? They've secured 60% of points. 100 points left on the table. 32+60=92. Maybe enough? Last Dec. 15 the Sabres were 11-16-4 and in the midst of their losing streak. Also six points out, it felt insurmountable. The record this year, the trend line, offer a bit more hope. A bit.

He's already what i hoped he would develop into which is really impressive actually.

Thank you. Every season there are a handful of fans that want to minimize the level of effort they need to be back in the playoffs. “It’s only 6 points”, like they can leapfrog a bunch of teams next week. They’ve already dug a hole that would require elite level play to get out of.

My condolences to Jarmo and his family. We recently lost a person close to us. This is going to be a very tough time for Jarmo.

Maybe. Or maybe it's them finally getting healthy. Or maybe it's finally putting Lyon back between the pipes with a healthy team and both are playing towards their potential. Or maybe it's just them getting to play a string of bad teams and one that's good but underperforming in the 1st half of the schedule once again. We see what we want. So, sure, it's because they expect positive changes might soon be made. Of course, there's only a handful at best that should feel secure in their role should a new set of eyes be placed in charge; so would that cause them all (or most of them) to play better to try to be able to stay a part of the team as it presumably moves in the right direction or would that cause them to grip their sticks tighter as their personal futures are less secure? No idea. Maybe it's a little of all of it. Just hoping this expected move actually happens and that it does trigger better play. This season doesn't have to be lost yet. Well, that would explain his being in Finland the past few days. Condolences to him and his family. May his dad RIP.

Is the team playing better because they know Adams will be gone soon and that is giving them a modicum of hope?

The franchise deserved to be crapped on during that extended drought, especially in a system designed for competitive balance.

Normally I'm one of the more positive people on this forum. However.. The Sabres May have 50% of available points, but they've lost more than they've won. They have 14 wins and 18 losses. They've won 14 games, lost 18. Next, in terms of point percentage, Detroit is holding down the last and 8th spot with a .591. what do the Sabres need to do to get to that level? It's an eight-game winning streak. 8. Yes, from this point the team would have to win 8 games in a row to get to .600, which would put them ahead of Detroit's current .591. A seven-game win streak wouldn't do it It feels good to say they are back to .500, but this is still a team that loses more than it wins. Yes, they won a few games in a row. But is being in a position in mid-December where you have to win 10 games in a row... Just to be in the very last playoff position in your conference.... Is that something that should prevent you from making major major changes to your front office? I don't think so. A three-game winning streak is nothing compared to that.

If Adams gets moved out how do you think the players will feel?

Being at the bottom of the division, or even at the bottom of the entire conference, might matter a lot more if we were in the western conference where the bottom dweller is 26 points out of 1st place, but here in the eastern conference we are only 12 points out of 1st place and just 6 points out of 8th. With a goalie who plays as well as Lyons has played, there is really no limit as to how far this team can go. Do I think this justifies keeping KA? Absolutely not.

Lyon's the man. Shocker. In other news, you don't fire your GM in the midst of a heater. That's just the real world. Not if Dude is being offered up as a sacrifice. If it's a golden parachute as part of rumored reorganization, the announcement could come anytime. But you can get more bang for your buck when everyone is in a tizzy. Reality: it's not xmas yet, the Sabres are NHL .500, it feels like the season is starting anew. FTR they are 9-6 since ending their losing streak.
