I agree; we'll have to wait and see.

And yet, if they finally a standard to follow that produces wins, and a rallying cry "This is how we play", it could become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I think for it to work, you need the elder statesmen of the team giving full support to the upstarts and recognizing their contributions.  They have to support the Crest, not individual factions in the room like they did int he Eichel era.

If I would have made my comment about the owner pep talk when we were playing another team at a different location, then my comment would have been gratuitous and annoying. That isn’t the case and wasn’t the intention.

For years people complained that the Sabres had no toughness.  Now they bring in a guy just for that and people complain.  So Sabresy.

As much as anything, Ruff insisting that the team sign Geersten and Ruff's subsequent insistence on dressing him for most games has made me question whether Lindy's time has come (and gone). Such a brutal personnel move.

i love the Val James story. and i enjoyed it when the Sabres brought him up to fight Terry O'Reilly.

but those days are long gone. if Geersten can't passably play NHL hockey, he should not be on the roster. full stop.

Montreal is looking better. This should be the game where Buffalo slows things down. Plays NY Islander hockey (or NJ devil hockey of more than a decade ago.)

In the games I have watched this Montreal team, they seem to be very good off the rush and generate a lot of goals that way. Once you show them down into a structured game they are much less effective.  I would limit how much the D-men pinch, and almost always have at least one forward in the neutral zone. Stand them up at your blue line and make them dump and chase.
