mjd1001 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Looking at the early returns on the 'fancey stats' from this game (Fenwick, Corsi, expected goals for/vs, etc.) and a quick glance shows the guys with the best numbers this game were Doan, Bryson, Krebs, and Danforth. Tuch, McLeod, Samuelsson and Quinn were at the bottom of the list. You’re not going to win games in the NHL very often that way. Agree. We need help at center. Remember Adams traded Eichel and drafted Savoie, Östlund, and Kulich in the next draft but none of them are a 1C at this point Savoie turned into McLoed, a good 3C Kulich is trying to find his way as a top 6 player but so far does not look like a 1C Östlund still cooking. Helenius showed something in camp and will be up. 1 Quote

At least with the Sabres, Has Pegula given any indication he wants anything other than "yes" men, or wants someone he 'feels' comfortable around and not someone who will disagree with him in any way? Terry wants to be made to feel listened to, to feel important. To feel like his thoughts on the hockey department and roster are being heard ALL THE WHILE being protected from criticism. Who is going to take that role? Until that changes, nothing really changes. Edited 2 hours ago by mjd1001 1 Quote

Either way I feel fairly safe saying this “should” be the final year of the Ruff/Adams experiment. Any other sports franchise I’d be 99% sure of this. With the Sabres it’s 50/50 at best they do anything consequential. I think you captured the Pegula factor. 1 Quote
HumanSlinky39 Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago 6 minutes ago, Pimlach said: My assessment is that they were terrible for 2 periods and then played better in the 3rd. Another incomplete game and a lot of mistakes. The forward lines look like they are not together, just like the start of last year. No one is in synch. I don’t like the effort. The big guns are silent. Lyon kept them in it Tage, Tuch, Dahlin - if they don’t step up and carry this team it’s going to be a very long season. This roster is pretty much mediocre at best. Blaming Tage for the last play, I understand the frustration, but McAvoy made an amazing play on the puck and on Tages stick. The power play is a terrible again. The PK has been decent. I don’t think Lindy is getting this team to play to their potential. I think he is done as a HC, and we already know his staff is not good. Coming into the season this disjointed is a direct result of the head coach and his gaggle of scrub assistants. I was actually offended by last summer's "coaching search." It was clear Adams, probably under Darth Terry's direction, zeroed in on Lindy without even considering anybody else hoping the nostalgia would satisfy the fanbase. It was a lazy and uninspired hire. Then they saddle him with detritus for an assistant staff. On top of all of this is was a bad hire. Lindy was a good coach 20 years ago. He's been a mixed bag since leaving Buffalo the first time and has failed with better rosters in Dallas and NJ. Bottom line, this organization isn't serious about icing a contender. Adams is a failed GM who would have already been fired almost anywhere else. He keeps his job because he will do Terry's bidding and Terry doesn't give a damn about the Sabres as long as the Bills are successful. Until Terry is insulated from hockey ops by a POHO that knows WTF he's doing, it will be and endless cycle of missing the playoffs and doing nothing to really get better. I hate this *****. 3 1 Quote

But what stands now is the most toxic cesspool I have ever seen since 3 Mile Island and Love Canal. Quote
PASabreFan Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Maybe Lindy should look more like a coach with the game on the line instead of standing there like an old man waiting for his wife to pick out the perfect cantaloupe. 1 5 Quote
Believer Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago We have an owner who doesn’t give a damn what the fans think. His Commissioner says he is doing a good job for Buffalo. The value of his franchise increases every year. No credit to him. 1 Quote
